how the hell do they always manage to make an already messed up storry way way worse?! twist the knife a little further, make it more terryfing, fates even more horrible and still it has a certain, haunting beauty to it . . . .
something I'm wondering about this song, was Lyssa driven mad by the machine Ulysses created to kill the Illians? or at least the same technology, maybe Artemis used it against them
Judging by the natural imagery, this takes place a long time before UDAD, but it could still be versions of the same technology. Maybe Ulysses took inspiration from Artemis' technology?
@@theweirdestfish9962 I think Artemis had some of the natural world in her own territory, given how in mythology she's the goddess of the wild. kinda like rich people keeping nature for their own enjoyment but denying it for everyone else
this is the first song where I did not instantly hated the character Raphaella sang, no clue what my problem is, with odin and Frankenstein there was inherent bias though . . . gosh this song is way more beautiful than it has any right to be for what it is about
So, I believe the greek goddess Lyssa, personification of madness, also appears in Euripides's Heracles, where Iris brings her to drive Heracles insane and cause him to kill his wife and kids. Ulysses Dies at Dawn made it seem like Heracles didn't kill his family but rather they were killed by Zeus who framed him, but this song shows that the olympians actually can cause people to kill their family members so, interpret those implications how you will.
A lot of The Mechanisms songs are Filk, so this probably is based on one or two or three other songs. Unfortunately, the wikia hasn't been uploaded with the "original" songs. (The wikia has them for the story sets, the Mechs put them in the linear notes of the physical albums)
actea: sister, don't you know me?
narrator: she did not
having now listened to the silt verses (s1)- getting mad penda's slake vibes from this one
This _screams_ The Hunt to me.
I don't know how I missed this one before. It's beautiful.

I found both the original story and this song satisfying rather than messed up; I mean perverts getting what they deserve? Heck yeah
I had no idea this was Toy Soldier and Raphaella. It doesn't sound like their usual performance styles at all. Love it though.
i love the way the song picks up when the hunt begins, and the mournful, yet urgent cries of actea asking sister dont you know me?
Well I mean it’s on em for perv-ing on ppl
for fellow tma fans (spoilers for later seasons): this but with daisy and basira
😢😢😢😢
The first time I heard this song was on a magnus archives playlist and this was literally my first thought
probably my favorite TS vocal moments, with Redeath a close second
there shall go no mechanism album without some space lesbians, at least in the aditional material . . .
Small note the goddess they upset was Artemis not Athena, thank you for your work though
whoops, the mistakes you make when you're only half awake. thanks for pointing it out! (and you're welcome!)
God, the music, the lyrics, the images in my head, brought tears to my eyes
they always find a way to make the story they retell way way worse and still beautiful . . . I cried so much over this band . . .
Dude I tried to get tears going but honestly these sisters deserved it😭😂
I've been obsessed with this song
me too it is increadable
Wish I could like a video more than once, this song is so beautiful
Same
proabably my favorite one!

Remember, don't oggle the local AroAce no matter where she chooses to bathe, it won't end well for you
Why this sound so familiar? Is based on another song?
