That "belt" for the Beretta holster is actually a bandolier meant to be worn over the left shoulder, with the pouches holding Carcano rifle clips. Also, the tip of the C96 cleaning rod is for removal of the firing pin, not for use as a screwdriver.
You are right; this belt was worn over the left shoulder and belonged to Italian Carabinieri, a kind of Italian Gendarmery depending on the Italian Army, Esercito Italiano, from which the acronym EI stamped on the pistol, which has different duties: Military Police and Civil Police in case of serious unrest, Rural Police in Italy, Security at the Italian Embasses in the world and special tasks like antiti terrorism. Every Carabiniere was supplied until about 1970 with a Beretta 1934 9x17 mm pistol and a Carcano rifle Mod 1891/38 with an integrated folding bayonet called"Cavalry Model". During normal duties only the pistol was worn with a simple holster hooked to the trousers belt. During military service also the quoted rifle was carried on the right shoulder. In this case the special combination holster shown was used over the left shoulder with pouces for the rifle loaders and a ring to which the pistol holster was hooked. That is what is shown in the picture.
CORRECT
awesome, thanks for the info.
I would said the same. Even today the bandolier is a part of the actual uniform of carabinieri
Thanks for pointing it out I was cringing hahaha
Love the black widows. Who am I kidding I love them all 😆
Always an outstanding video and presentation.
Great Post Tom fantastic pistols.
Someone pinched your desktop rubber mat while you were away. Hehe
Seeing what you bring back from the show of shows is always one of my favorite videos, especially since i can never make it there. Thanks for sharing Tom 👍
Louisville is about 70 miles away I can’t afford to go any more there is so much quality collectibles I must stay away. PS I like your voice, my wife hates Scotty the car guys voice. He saves me money you cost me money. Welcome to Kentucky
The broomhandle mauser and artillery luger are my two favourite firearms of all time.
For info: the Persian Walther has writing in local language that translates to "Sample 1939"
The reddish hue is due to the hardening of the steel and the reaction from the bluing-process on the surface of those areas/parts which need to be stronger during firing/action.
On the color change I always called it Plum HK pistols had plum over the year’s great videos SIR🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
...watching your videos is not only fun and pure entertainment, it's also super informative, inspiring and interesting.
I can't wait to see more, so please keep it up and coming !!!;;;!!!
Love that black widow, they seem like they are getting alot more rare these days especially an all matching, what a fantastic lot of firearms and history.
Saving history and having fun. Win win.
Beautiful collection! The Persian contract Farsi# 9917. The mark you are referring to is Farsi letter "F", do not know what it signifies, but it is not number 9. The Farsi 9 and our 9 look very similar, and we can see them on the first two digits of the serial#. On the slide of course there is the Persian crest one side "Shahrbani", similar to constabulary, and Model 1317. I need one for my collection!
Walther Persian contract writing has a mark 'Police', as well as year. However the matching letter on the gun and magazine, although similar to 09 ( 9mm), is actually the letter 'F' or ف.
Hi Tom,
Had to stop you 20 seconds (whatever) in about the red 9.
The Imperial eagle was stamped in that location (front of the magazine well) after the directive in June 1918 as a way of identifying Imperial property as by that time items were disappearing with 'departing" personnel.
The application of the Imperial Eagle was performed by unit armourers (as per the red 9 as well) and obviously with the turmoil of war, a lot of weapons were missed .
I am lucky enough to own 2 red nines with this Eagle stamped on the magazine well- Thanks for all the informative videos.
Great information!!
That is not 9. It is letter "F". This gun was issued to police. It reads "شهربانی" on the slide which means city police.
News to me.... but thanks !!
The stocks of military Mauser Red 9 Broomhandles do not have any markings like seen on DWM/Erfurt LP-08 rigs.
I did enjoy this video. Great to see an expert at work
Exceptional!

I think someone refinished the iron.
I suspect it has been restamped.
I Think the stock is revised the wood is too glittering.
@@Carlo1997
Most likely. I think the original finish was linseed oil.
Hope you enjoyed your self !!! Tom and Randy!!!
The C96 and the Luger are two of the most beautiful firearms ever made.
I had seen a video elsewhere showing, Depending on the bluing . . .to get a very black color. . .a dip in copper based fluid may occur between standard Bluing multiple dips and hot flame washes.. . . to get a light blue color, the copper dip is not used. . .
byf - Oberndorf, Salzberg, Austria. I hear there’s a fantastic Mauser museum there.
Bought my bucket list M1 at the SOS back in 2017, an H&R 1954 build LMR barrel minty rifle. Last appraisal I had done on it was for $2300. Considering I paid $1100 I think I'll hold onto it for a while longer....
the live was fun..
what a gorgeous stock on that red 9
well done tom
the Beretta holester is worn across the chest like a bandolier.
Thought the metal took on that colour hue when it wasn't quite at the right temperature?
You could be right. I know I dont understand it but have heard several explanations.
@@LegacyCollectibles I don't know for sure Tom as I'm not expert either, but I seemed to remember Mark Novak saying something like that when theyre doing the straw, fire blue, etc. google metal colour/color (US) temperature chart
Is it Aluminium did you say. Would it be strong enough.
I have two 1959 P1's with consecutive serial #'s that I would like your opinion on. If you are interested, what's the best way to get descriptions/photos of them too you?
It makes sense that the red 9 would have the Prussian eagle mark. I think that contract was specifically for the Kingdom of Prussia's army.
Hey Tom, I really enjoy your videos. Quick hint with regard to "Waffenproofed": The proofmarks on german WW2 guns should read WaA, followed by the respective identification number. This actually stands for "Waffenamt" (Wa - Waffen; A - Amt), translating to "Weapon's bureau". Please keep on producing those informative videos!
I have a 1935m Beretta made in 1944,7.65 cal with the 4/UT in an oval-shaped I had that rig for it,where can I find more information on this firearm, thank you!
The 4UT is a German acceptance proof which means your pistols was made during the German occupation of the factory and issued to the German Army.
Wish I had that stuff
Tom, Did your mean 1943 or 1933 in regard to the "60 degree" safety, RZM Walther PPK (s/n # 803571) ? I have s/n # 845693 for 1936, I believe.
🎶WALTHERS and🎵 🎵LUGERS..🎶 and MAUSERS with their Wooden Holsters 😊
🎵🎶..these are the 🎶few of My Favorite things !!🎵😅
Love your videos.
If your voice is causing women to want to divorce their husbands,...you are doing the guys a favor. Keep up the good work.
C-96 tool open grip ⚙️
It's for firing pin removal, not the grip screw.
On day I’ll have enough money for one of these SS guns.
Annoying? You? 😊 No way. You're like the Mr Rogers of UA-cam gun channels.
16.27 this "made in germany" is done later ?
What book is it that you have out?
Why do commercial guns not have proof marks?
Proof marks were for acceptance by the military.
Hi Tom how and where do you get those Canadian rescue Lugers ?
Probably just imports them from Canada, there are companies that specialize in bringing guns into the country on an individual or small number basis. I don't know how much longer he'll be able to though, the Canadian government recently banned the sale or transfer of handguns.
@@chemistryofquestionablequa6252
Import them from where ,like you said ,it's prohibited to transfer , sell ,or buy handguns in Canada
🍸👍🏻
Just to let you know, you don’t annoy people, my watching your videos frequently is what annoys my wife. Still great video and keep up the good work
First! Nice video
I think there's a typo there's to many zeros on the price.
i realy want a luger its a dream gun butt i need it deco
Rescue from what???? Serious did i miss something, are the luger pirates coming for them.
All pistols are illegal in Canada. Rescued from destruction by the government
Canada has made certain guns illegal and they are collecting them and destroying them. Ones that are being exported are sometimes referred to as rescues
Did not know this ,makes sense now..thank you....
Artillary pistol is really wacky lol. why ? why not just give them a rifle. oh they did have them. i still dont get the longer barreled pistol. no way your shooting that long ranges over your bolt action rifle standard issue.
UK gun laws stop me from owning such works of art.
