When I was stationed on Guam back in 67, there was a section leader named Frankhouser who had a chopped Triumph, though not as radically as the one shown. Frankhouser was one big guy both vertically and horizontally, I mean, like fat. Anyway, he would take things off the bike and bring them to work to lighten them. He'd get ecstatic if he could shave off a couple of ounces of weight to make his chopper that much lighter. I liked the guy and there was no way I wanted to insult him, but if he'd have simply lost 50 pounds..... oh well.
It's not like you would ever be riding it and hit a pot hole and get thrown off the seat and you butt ends up on the rear wheel at 60 mph. (at which point you wouldn't be looking so cool......)
Hey, I’m currently in possession of this bike. It’s down in South Carolina now. Would you be able to give me the low down on it or put me in contact with the original owner?
Sorry for such a late reply. I never saw this comment until just now. My father and I built this bike together as a father son project. Would be happy to answer any questions you have if you still have the bike. Cool to know it’s all the way down in South Carolina. Was originally from Union Pier MI.
There is just something about the way a Triumph sounds that just about cannot be improved upon.
