The Portuguese Celts and the Galician Celts are the same people. Both share DNA with the British Celts as well as musical traditions. Compare the paliteiros of Northeastern Portugal with England's morris dancers. Yes -identical! Incidentally my wife is a descendent of the Bracariae an aggressive celtic tribe who gave their name to the city of Braga. She and her brother are pale skinned, tall and blonde.

Morris dancing is Anglo-Saxon. The connection would have to be through the Goidelic peoples of Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man.

It is so obvious because Northern Portugal is Celtic as well. Question is: Why is it not part of the Celtic world? The USA is also considered a Celtic nation. yet I don't know that the Celtic language is spoken there, like it is not spoken in Portugal, yet Portugal is NOT considered Celtic nation, why?

Northern Portugal, Galicia, Asturies and Cantabria are unofficial members of the Celtic Nations. To be a "true" Celtic nation, the population of the country has to speak a Celtic language. The Celtic language of Northwest Iberia died out in 500-800AD. It is being revived, however (Ína Danga Hálega). Who knows, maybe one day Gallaecia will officially join the Interceltique Nations.

Connie Silva Dang! So what you are saying is I am pretty much 86% Celtic!? I can totally handle that! I took an ancestry DNA test and it pretty much told be I am 78% Irish/British (more Welsh then actual England) and 8% Iberian, which is Portugal and Spain. Awesome! I knew I was Celtic.
The USA isn't really a Celtic nation...it is what we called a melting pot. We have people from all over the world who migrated to this country.

Algumas semelhanças entre Português e Irlandês
Amanhã em Irlandês é, amárach .

    ouro // óir/or

I'm portuguese. Just took a DNA test and found out I'm 32% Irish/Scottish and 29% Iberian. Could this be the Celtic heritage?

    • @Alfablue227
      @Alfablue227 3 роки тому

Yes, it is a mix o Iberian with Celtic. I have it but I am overwhelmingly Iberian 80% with 7% and Roman, etc, my sister is 21% and she has some Greek, which is in the family too. But yes, you are a Portuguese Celt. Are u from Minho?

@@lopazio there is Celtic heritage in the Beiras and in the NW part of Alentejo, but in Algarve, it is rare, unless it is modern Celt DNA from all the Brits, Irish, etc that either hang out or settled there in the modern era. Now if ur parents are alive,, test each and u will see which 50% DNA u got from them, and which one you did not; fascinating stuff.

Gallaecia= Galiza, Northern Portugal, one nation one culture one people, denied by both Madrid & Lisboa. Divided by Spain for their convenience, as Gallaecia always challenged Castile's dominance.

because its easy. Or you are Portuguese or you are spanish, both doesnt work.
