I built at least 10 Primaris Sanguard 2 years ago and I'm really glad that I did, especially having seen the new models. Hopefully I'll be able to run this detachment. It's definitely for a jump pack skew list. It might make it worth repainting my VanVets just to have another jump unit.
I couldn’t talk about this detachment without mentioning Inceptors in every sentence. Good on you for keeping it objective. Poor VanVets, I try to squeeze them in, but can’t find the right fit.
I probably would play the Sanguinor in all AH lists. You can have him jump in, Angel Sacrifice, Fight first and then Unbridled Ardour when he dies (pretty funny if it's a SG unit that got charged). I also think Astorath with DCJI are a nice Angel Sacrifice target with Fight on Death. Cool combo there.
Nice! I'm still going to choose Liberator Assault Group as my main and favorite, but I'll play all the detachments. That gotcha moment, though. Never thought of it like that! Thanks for the tip
Something to add to that Captain + Sang Guard combo. Rites of Battle allows the Captain to use Martial Exemplars for free so you can also utilize those Lethals to help penetrate heavy units.
I love the VV combo. I mentioned this on another YTer's review about this and you would have thought I grew a second head with his fairly rude rude response. I hadnt even thought about adding the captain to it. thats just icing on the cake that someone wouldnt be expecting. I find the third sentence of your after thoughts to be amusing since I am playing my light cav guard army tomorrow with its 6 chimeras, 3 hellhounds, 2 LRs, RD, and pile of sentinels and just waxed a khorne army last weekend. Your list is weirdly close to what I was thinking about running and pleasantly lacks special characters who I despise.
Hey John, nice analysis. It's an interesting detachment no doubt. I wish that some day we will get back our full codex treatment with Red Thirst being our army rule.
I think we have a nice balance of detachments, LAG for those of us who are not quite so good tactically, or just wanna kill stuff. For those who are more tactically capable, as you said, this will allow a lot of game control. Lastly, probably more of a fluffy detachment for the hell of it.
I really don't like plasma inceptors, with overcharge in 6 man squad, 1 of them is almost always going to die, and that sucks, i also find their bolters to be superior, even vs tougher units, with sustained hits 2, they can very easily swing.
Descent of Angels might be nice with the Sanguinor. If the enemy leaves a weak unit on the home objective you could drop the Sanguinor just on them as a harass. It has fights first so if they charged it, you'd be fine. And if you pull it back into strategic reserve, you can still use its reactive ability to deploy when an ally gets charged
Incorrect. If his on the table and you pull him back Into strat reserve he would have to come back down straight away. Cant hang out and wait for a charge
@@ba_commander 1000pts. 1 squad of 5 plague marines had mellee weapons and fights first from a character, one squad had the flamer load out. They dominated the board and felt unchargable. I over killed the deathshroad as I was scared the DC would bounce and wasted resources
What I think is that LAG gives you the incentive to take many melee units. So you'll try to also use melee units against high toughness units. Angelic Host doesn't give you incentives to go melee, it just gives you incentives to take certain Jump Pack units. So why not handle the anti tank problem as any vanilla Space Marine army would ant take ranged weapons to fight high toughness units?
Maybe somewhat off topic. But we were looking at the death company detachment and noticed a slight issue. Enhancements can pretty much only be placed on captains??? But you can't attach a chaplain as well?
I wish i had more jump pack units! Currently I have 10 jump death company, 3 plasma inceptors, and 5 jump intercessors but nothing else. Im not too broken up about playing LAG though haha

BY THE BLOOD OF THE GREAT ANGEL SANGUINIUS
Thanks Ryan for your awesome support!
@@ba_commander thank you for the video, always enjoy listening in the morning at work

No mephiston, no sanguinor, no Dante. That list is crazy
Each to their own, my friend. I did win a GT just a few months ago with Dante. :)
Been looking forward to this video all week. BAC you are awesome
Hope it lives up to your expectations!

No problem!
Yes, thank you. I think it'll come down to this detachment and LAG. I think Lost Brethren is for narrative games.

Plus with lone op, they couldnt just shoot it off the board. So even they had a tank in the backfield, you'd be ok

I'm going to play Liberator, and honestly I like the fluffiness of the Lost Bretheren more, but... man this detachment has some crazy tools.
The enhancements are just total garbage, though. Pinions aside, obviously.
I agree.
I played death guard on Tuesday night and lost using LAG. The 3" shooty deap strike would work well next time I play them
Which death guard unit caused the loss?

Probably makes sense! Maybe a few gladiators?
The SG spears clearly should have been base Str 8…!
Our Ba codex would be op, because it was written 6-8 months ago
Than gw would crush us, when they would see stuff.
They know how popular we are.

Hey can you please put some time stamps in your videos? Especially for unit breakdowns and combos
Time stamps actually lower watch time and have hurt my channel in the past :/ people just skip the videos.
@ba_commander what about making some shorts for stuff in the video
Hell yeah! Suppressors for the WIN! 😂😂😂

Do you get the benefit of heavy if you come in from deep strike?
No, you would count as moving
Could t you angels sacrifice with the sanguinor and then do some damage before absorbing any of the damage coming to your sang guard
I think you could!
How is the size of the new SG compared to the old ones?
They will be on 40mm bases and a little taller.
So if codex comes out tomorrow
Means we cam start making army lists now ?
Yes for sure!

How are 6 sang gaurd 300pts & 5 deathwing knights 235 or whatever.. seems bonkers
To be fair the points may yet change.
