  • The United Nations has warned that the conflict in Sudan risks “a catastrophic conflagration that could engulf the whole region and beyond”.
The warning was made by United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres, speaking to the the UN Security Council in New York.
He urged UN members to use their influence to stop the violence and restore the east African country to its democratic path.
Fighting has broken out in the capital, Khartoum, and other parts of the country in a power struggle within the country's military leadership. The clashes are between the regular army and a paramilitary force called the Rapid Support Forces.
Many countries are trying to withdraw their citizens from Sudan.
Huw Edwards presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Andrew Harding in South Africa and Nick Beake in Brussels.

The death toll will rise rapidly if it carries on from starvation and disease. The infrastructures in these already struggling countries is on a knifes edge and this will be the start of a disaster. The main issue with intervention by foreign nations is that both leaders are insane so they would have to wipe them both out and create a new government and stabilise the country. They could do all that but remnants of both sides would likely attack NATO or UN forces and if the Sudanese people opposed it then its pointless even doing anything after what happened in Iraq and there they had support from local militia etc.

This was not in the interest of Sudan's people, Ethiopia has had the right to fight back, and currently, it was a good opportunity for Ethiopia to re claim the occupied territory by force, but for reasons Ethiopia didn't take an action as Burhan took the opportunity, to invade Ethiopia, when it was busy fighting the terrorist EPLF backed by USA in the last four years.

So while the state broadcaster shys away from the job of journalsim the UK govenment will not be treating those fleeing the Sudan conflict as refugees but as "illegal"/economic migrants.
Congratulations you turned my rhetorical question aimed at highlighting a significant blind spot in the pillars of UK democracy and made it an overt calling out of both the media and the state for reprehensible actions. I would love to know why so many are there, I read an estimate of 4000 UK citizens . I very much doubt they are tourists unless they are stupid ones and they are not all government people so the rest must be people who live and work there but still claim to be UK residents who picked to work there knowing the risks.

As someone who got inside info into the situation this is the TDLr.
    - Russia wanted a military base in Djibouti
    - US military said no (Russia will use the base to strike in Yemen and Syria)
so Russia looked else were in Sudan (a bit above in a state called Port Sudan)
    - US warns Sudan from accepting the deal
    - 4 months ago Sudan started going with the military base in Port Sudan, and US said Sudan will pay for that (another final warring)
    now the war broke out
    however, there are many sides
    - mainly the mercenaries who started the war who are funded by mainly UAE and Israel
and the other said which's the gov military
thus being said the big players like US and China are still quite on which side they will support
Russia 3 days ago thru Wagner group supplied the Mercenaries known us Rapid Support Force (they rebranded from Janjaweed a force made of Sudanese, south Sudanese chad, Niger, Eritrea, Ethiopia mainly)
which makes everything confusing the RSF was keen on siding with the US, but looks like they are playing both sides
it's confusing now and bigger players now will have to wait and see which side they will support in the war to maintain their influence in central African region
US now sent 2000 extra to their Djibouti military base, France and UK and many countries did the same even japan got a huge base their next to the Chinese base
that area is vital and I can't explain why in one commend (Oil+Water+Gold & Uranium to name a few is present in the region in huge quantity but maybe the geo-location is the most attractive )
