I've been riding duke 390 2018 model for close to 3 years now. To be honest. This bike is beautiful on the highway. Ring the throttle, power in every gear...feel so good to feel the wind and feel the power. Only cons are: *Viberation: slight viberation, because of which certain bolts and nuts on bike come loose. need to keep a check.(single cylinder/high power: gota accept that viberation will be there) *unstable idling: gota agree this point. When you slow down for speed bumps/breakers ,engine shuts off.(solution: change exhaust.back pressure is reduced and ull feel the smoothness of bike) *Suspension: rear suspension is too close to the catalyst converter. So the spring becomes hot. Thus reducing the life span of mono-shock. *Don't dare change to ordinary tires for this bike. It's light, high torq, so gota understand need better shoes. Else you'll skid in turns/corners The stock metzlers are so fakin good that u can go a corner ,.leaning using one hand... kissing your girlfriend on the other. These are the issues I found...there are other minor ones like display/indicators fogging up during rains. Which is ok and managable. Don't think twice, just go for it. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility. So ride sensibly not like a crazy maniac on steroids 🥴
@@Abhay44211 engine is not very smooth like a Honda, and isn't ruff(vibration) like royal Enfield classic. Vibration is there but little, but you will hardly notice because the bike is tooooo fast in 0- 80. Blink of an eye
My friend rides the 390 adv and suggests this as the first bike and says it wouldn't be an issue for beginner riders as long as they are aware about the power. Once they love the ktm duke 390 there's no going back.
Yes that is correct. It is a part of package and people should get over it. All the superbikes have same thing which is expected this should not be a con rather a standard behaviour
There is solution for it... In ktm 250 and 390 adventure have curved radiator having more surface area to decipate the heat and also two fan instead of one in duke counterparts... Ktm advs have significantly better heat management... Also we have to accept the fact that any super to hyper sports bikes heatsup a lot
No it can be resolved. This bike is currently having only one cylinder which is causing this issue. If company offers 2 cylinders . The heating issue might be resolved by 65 percent. But then the cost will become high. So can't do anything.

One feedback for you brother - instead of titling this video as '5 reasons not to buy', keep the title as '5 things that could have been better in Duke 390'. This would be more effective and doesn't convey your findings in a negative way.
I have taken delivery of the duke 390 BS6 yesterday and it’s amazing to use the heat is a little higher than other bikes and feels hot on the left leg while wearing slippers only the quick shifter is working amazing and the only minute jerk I feel is when I quick shift from 1st to 2nd due to neutral gear. The only issue for me is the engine oil light. It lights up suddenly but then goes away too but comes back too then. The heat in traffic dose not exceed more than 4 bars anyways and the fan cools it too and if moving then the heat is barely existent
Have to fullfild the break in period as manufactured preconize. New coolant is also recomended. Rode adv 390 in heavy transit and dont had any problem regarding excess of heat.
Here is a small summary - 1. If you are buying for the quickshifter, the that is not a good reason as it does not work as well, you experience jerks while shifting similar to clutchless shifts on normal bikes. 2. If you are buying just for city rides and not long rides or high performance rides, it is not good as it becomes jerky and stalls at low RPMs in traffic. 3. Earlier you could do mild off-roading but not now as the ground clearance is reduced by 24mm. 4. Not advantageous if you are a beginner as it it an aggressively accelerating bike. 5. The heating issues are still there and it has not yet been resolved.
I ride my 390(2019) mostly in heavy traffic, morning 1.5 hrs and evening 1.5 hr. I don't find any extra ordinary heating issue. Yes it does heat but don't compare that with normal bikes rather compare with similar high compression ratio engine bike. If I have to answer to this point, When the engine is in running condition, temperature won't exceed more than 4 bars in the display meter else you might have to get coolant level checked. Also I agree with the "jatka" point he made. I understood it as, If you are in 2nd gear and the bike is decelerating and speed reaches less than 20kmph suddenly you feel a jump.
I have duke 390 2019 BS4 bike I was also facing similar issues of heating and jerkiness at low rpm. After riding my friends bike with Powertronics ECU and after market quick shifter I also got it installed. it doesn't solve all the issues you mentioned completely but makes riding smooth.
Heating is Caused by High Compression Ratio which is in KTM 390 series is 12.6:1 .. and High CR leads to better efficiency (it doesnt mean better mileage, but Efficiency in High CR means more power in less fuel or same) .. but also increased engine wear and tear .. (SR i know you know all this already, i posted this for audience here) ..
quick shifter comes as an accessory.... not available on stock bike.. as your test bike doesn't have quickshifter... second quickshifter is only for upshifts not for downshift... and the mechanism which have both is known as autoblipper
I have the duke390 bs6 and the quick shifter upshift works after 4k RPM and downshift at 2500 rpm and below.thats how you can use the quickshifter smoothly.

Bro, I have pulsar 150 I was in approx 80 in 4 th gear, I was confused wheather it is in 4 or 5 th gear then I press the gear lever and the gear fall to 5th gear 😑😑😑, but there was not jerk it went smoothly. However, I was very dissapoint that I made clutch less shift.
Bro, close ur eyes and go for Duke. I am a Duke owner for the past 4 years, using it for touring, city ride and everything else. People crying out loud for heating issues etc. don't know anything about performance. They are simply the ones who only consider, "kitna deti hain".

Try to shift it after 4k rpm........dude im the owner of duke 390 bs6 Quick shifter is so smooth U can shift after 4k rpm without realising throttle u can shift at full throttle without any jerk try it thank u
4:35 Heating issues is not a complaint, its a feature of this bike!! Its inherit reason being the over-square high cc engine! Even if KTM launches BS10 D390 in 2030, it'll still have the same heating issues unless they change the over-square design of the cylinder!
On ground clearance.. Bullet/classic have just 135mm , but everyone takes them for Leh Ladakh. So, it's not even a problem. None of these are problems at all. Every bike has heating, buzz, slight electronic errors etc
It's a beast in this segment.. High end torque... quick shifter works when revolutions are high... quick shifter doesn't work better in low revs even on high end bikes.. So can go for tourer or amature drag races
