Lived, worked, and studied in Manhattan during the 70s and 80s. Loved the City. Loved the grittiness and the pulse of the City. Mayor Koch injected hope and pride in the City.
Lived on 2nd Ave and 33rd for about a year ,as a teen 1975 roughly , went to Seward park high for a short time, then quit ...then blue collar life, now sitting in bed in China with the wife, what a strange life it's been.
No gas sign, I was 13 in 1973 and remember long lines of cars waiting for gas, it was crazy, and I also remember how all of a sudden there was gas, I thought, what, all of a sudden they found a huge stash of gas, I knew right away there wasn't a shortage, it was big oil companies putting the squeeze on, to up prices and to show just how powerful they are, I remember electric cars idea, gov shot that down, solar panels, gov shot that down, gov, aka big oil changes, something's never change.
My grandmother lived in Hell's Kitchen (47th. St. between 8th and 9th Ave) from 1974 up until her death in 2004). It was a rent stabilized 3 bedroom apartment and the rent was $470 a month. I'm guessing they’re renting it now for $5K a month?
All black & white photos in the 70s? It does not correctly represent the time period. By the 60s, most people only used color film. Must be for dramatic effect.
@Younger Dryas ..im assuming certain aspects of Tijuana could be better or better , it’s really up to the individual. Tijuana is right under San Diego to the south in Mexico , under California. Ive never been there …so, I can’t say what it is or isn’t .

Love grand central station. Commuted from westchester in the late 70s as my dad did before me. It’s a beautiful place.
Love 1970s NY photography ❤
1970's NYC was pretty grim. I remember it well. But at least it was still reasonably affordable.
Geez, I miss those days. Got a quick glimpse of Mamma Leone's, I used to love eating there with my parents. Hokey, but in a good way.

Amerikanın amerika olduğu zamanlar süper manhattan caddesi
Not a great era for the city. Crime was at its peak at the time and poor economic conditions led many companies to leave.
Great inages...pity about the choice of music...there was some great music in the 70's...nothing like this
😂😂😂

It does not correctly represent the time period.
By the 60s, most people only used color film.
Must be for dramatic effect.
We often still used B & W films after colour came out...
Doesn't make any difference all beautiful none the less
Black and white was appropriate for that particular time period.
Towers Tweens was to byild in 73'
A nice White country.
Look exiting but no Pretty like tijuana in the 70s
