It causes less knockback than w tapping because W tapping is you literally stopping moving, the returning, which causes the most knock back (other than s tapping, which is a different story). Less knockback can cause the most combos, but block-hitting is not required for combos. I almost forgot the most important thing! Blocking in 1.8 decreases damage taken by some margin. I thought it was 50%, but that isn't always the case for more precise damage that is invisible. Block Hitting- less damage taken when hit, causes less knockback, can create combos W-Tapping, causes a LOT of knockback, and double hitting can launch players far, good for getting people into the void, but when controlled, can also cause combos with a lot of practice. Minor tip- for the best knockback to throw people into the void, get the player to jump.

Both methods are necessary to make sure you don't get comboed by your opponent for not causing enough knockback. For W tapping, a trick to get people into the void is at their most vulnerable: in the air. Anywhere in the air, especially when they start jumping, causes the most knockback. For Block-Hitting, a tip is to time your block hits. I often forget to time my right-clicks and i end up spamming the block button, which is inefficient for two reasons. 1: you have less speed and reach. Speed=Reach in all of minecraft pvp. Blocking gives you as much speed as drawing your bow, and that less of a speed boost can lessen your reach when you are trying to extend it. 2. You are given less of a damage reduction. You can try and time it with when they are hitting you (which is hard af) or just when you are timing it with your hits. It is not a spamming technique, it is just like W-tapping: time your presses and you'll have the best result. I hope this is helpful, and I can give more information or answer any questions, because I am not the best at explaining things XD
