    It has been rough. Since 2001, I have been using my Palm 505 almost on a daily basis. These days, I do actually use it on a daily basis. And to make things even worse, I once had to replace the battery. I know, I know, it sounds crazy, but over the 21 year period of use, I actually did have to replace the battery once. LOL

    I’m a sony minidisc enthusiast and I think it’s cool that the UA-cam algorithm recommended this video. It’s not 100% my thing but it’s fun hanging out with cool people from a sibling subcommunity

      I appreciate it, yes youtubes algo is starting to work against youtube's actual self interests which I greatly approve of, I see only what I like and things that seem at least, vaguely cool despite being a bit not what I was looking for too, I've been noticing that, its a nice feature.

    I wanna buy one not to use it regularly but just because channels like yours have sparked a huge interest in collecting old tech. I asked my parents for all my old phones they had in their basement and oh boy do i have quite the lineup.
    -Evo shift
    -iPhone 4
    -iPhone 4S
    -iPhone 5
    -iPhone 5S
    -iPhone 6 plus
    -iPhone 7
    and the ones after I moved out and had to buy my own:
    -LG K7 (this thing served as a backup phone despite having a broken screen for years)
    -Unknown Low-End Samsung Galaxy (A series i think)
    -Asus ZenFone 2
    -OnePlus nord again idk which one
    -Razer Phone 2
    -Mi 10 note pro
    And my current one, Xiaomi 12 pro.
    It's crazy looking at them all lined up and seeing how far they have come.

    • @NijiDash
      @NijiDash 4 місяці тому +1

      I know, right? I remember the first time I brought my HTC HD2 to school, someone put her phone next to it and was like "that screen is almost larger than my whole phone" haha. One of the first 1GHz phones, loved Windows Phone 7 on it.
      Nowadays I'm still on my Note9 from 2018, now with Lineage OS. Back then, using a 6-year-old smartphone was quite uncommon and now it's quite possible (barring battery lol). We've come a long way indeed!

    • @RedVRCC
      @RedVRCC 4 місяці тому

      @@NijiDash damn... I remember that, when phones just kept getting bigger and bigger. It's crazy seeing how tiny an iPhone 4 is for example, it's hard to believe that felt normal back then!
      Windows phones weren't honestly all that bad, it's a shame that it never took off cause it had some potential to provide something entirely different from android or ios.
      I need to try a custom os but by the time I think about it I've already got a shit ton of things installed and am too lazy to bother with having to make a backup, wipe everything to install it, then restore everything. I do usually root most of my phones and install twrp tho unless it proves to be too challenging. I really like the xiaomi phones because they're one of the few companies that make the bootloader easily unlockable. Literally just a single button press when connected to a pc and it's done.
      And you're right about their lifetime I remember upgrading a lot more frequently back in the day but now that pretty much everything is a super overpowered slab that looks not much different from last year, I find myself using the same phone for 3+ years. I usually end up upgrading simply because the battery life has reached such an abysmal level.
