Thank you Prabhuji. Prakruti is material nature innate to our psycho-physical nature and harmonisable with dharma. Vasana is the material desire superficial to our psycho-physical nature and not harmonisable with dharma.
Hare Krishna Prabhuji, nicely explained the difference between nature and vasana. Krishna has said not to curb our nature and not our vasana, people mis quote this saying Krishna has said nothing can be accomplished by curbing. and the second point mis quoted is performing others dharma is dangerous, where Krishna did not mean dharma as Christianity, Islam or Hinduism. And lastly a very important question by Arjuna that what is it that forcefully impels us to act in sinful ways. thank you.
3.33 - 3.36 - Two mis-quoted verse fragments from the Gita 3.33 - Everyone acts as per their nature. What can repression accomplish? Diff between Prakriti & Vasana Prakriti: Material nature - Innate to our psychophysical nature & Harmonizable with dharma Vasana: Material desire Superficial to our psychophysical nature & Not harmonizable with dharma Bg 3.34 - There are principles to regulate attachment and aversion pertaining to the senses and their objects. One should not come under the control of such attachment and aversion, because they are stumbling blocks on the path of self-realization. Bg 3.35 - It is far better to discharge one’s prescribed duties, even though faultily, than another’s duties perfectly. Destruction in the course of performing one’s own duty is better than engaging in another’s duties, for to follow another’s path is dangerous. Bg 3.36 - Arjuna said: O descendant of Vṛṣṇi, by what is one impelled to sinful acts, even unwillingly, as if engaged by force?
Attractions and aversions are part of our nature but we should not come under their control. Otherwise they will steal away our spiritual inclinations.
Prakriti is not sinful, vasana is sinful. One doesn’t acquire ksatriyas, vaisya, brahmana, nature not due to sin, but due to contact of soul to body. Even sudra can become guru if he knows Krsna tattva.
Thankyou Prabhuji for the wonderful class.
