You died within me The boatmen came to sail me down the river Bind me up with visions of a blind man I operate this way Turn nothing into gold Death on such an ugly day You dine like a king on top of the world You show us all That forgiveness is the weakest call And now revenge Against that grudge inside your tiny head Remove the crown of absolution Let the retribution fly The king has all the king has all But words can kill and maim and take their toll And you massacre my dreams at night And eat away at every thought Until we take control The king has all totalitarian and carnivore Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground Until it's safe to breathe and coexist again Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground Until it's safe to live and coexist again They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you But the sun always shines for you They're taking away the freedom to be just you You'd kill to find me But the crown above my head is deadly They're taking away the freedom to be just you They're taking away the freedom to be just you
I prefer this version so much more, mainly because the vocals are so different, and in some parts of the song there is this full band harmony that happens that makes me feel some type of way
@@denischurin this is a live production. They even had to get another drummer to fill in. You can also tell from the minute differences in vocals. All of their live shows are like this.
Im glad Amos moved away from Kiesel. I dont think it looked good i his hands, and every other bass ive seen him play sounded better in his hands then that one did, nor did he ever seem to move quite as fluidly and relaxed while playing it as he did his warwicks. There just seemed to be something tense aout his playing with it or something, idk though, there was just something not right about seeing him with that Kiesel. (Not knocking the kiesel, bet it would have looked/sounded sick in Simon Grove's hands, just like his Le Fay) This ibanez though... Hot damn Amos, dont ever put that shit down, that thing's your flawless-victory bass straight up. Every time i see Amos with this thing, i cnt help but think "Yup, fuckin nailed it" On a separate note, its hilarious to me how much harder the drummers in bands like this always appear to be working then everyone else. Hes back there shaking like a muppet with drops of sweat getting slung, while the other guys all just locked into a trance or something lmao.
Amos out here continuing to prove he is the most effortlessly cool thing to ever walk the Earth
Seeing them live was.. a formative experience.
All of them are scary good. But I do love Amos.
Amos is such an interesting character. Insanely good bassist, very knowledgeable and so down to earth. And a killer growler!
My face melted on the recent Seattle show. This track was exactly like this presented live. So clean, massive and emotional. Absolute all star show!
I prefer this version simply because the singing is much much clearer.
2:31-3:04 gives me chills every time! 🤘🏼
Best scream i have ever heard
the little sustained/swung transition into the instrumentals feels so badass every time
You died within me
The boatmen came to sail me down the river
Bind me up with visions of a blind man
I operate this way
Turn nothing into gold
Death on such an ugly day
You dine like a king on top of the world
You show us all
That forgiveness is the weakest call
And now revenge
Against that grudge inside your tiny head
Remove the crown of absolution
Let the retribution fly
The king has all the king has all
But words can kill and maim and take their toll
And you massacre my dreams at night
And eat away at every thought
Until we take control
The king has all totalitarian and carnivore
Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground
Until it's safe to breathe and coexist again
Bow down submit to me and kiss the ground
Until it's safe to live and coexist again
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
But the sun always shines for you
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
You'd kill to find me
But the crown above my head is deadly
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
They're taking away the freedom to be just you
Best fucking lyrics ever. Dan Tompkins is a genius

I heard this for the first time in Portland during their Sonder tour. It's when I fell in love with their music
I love this. This is a masterpiece ♡☆

It’s so hard to find this song off of PORTALS
Tesseract uploaded every song from that live album
@@IcarusNadir not the live videos though. You gave to buy PORTALS to watch all of the songs performed live. The album is on Spotify though.

Wutt?? Is this a live recording? If so, it's unreal...
no, it's definitely not live; the sound absolutely matches the album record. But this doesn't mean these guys are ain't awesome.
@@denischurin this is audio from their live performance. You can absolutely tell with the differing drum parts.
