Looking back on the band ZNÖWHITE who released four albums in the 1980s, but never had a real breakthrough despite tons of talent and street credibility.
"Act of God" is not only one of my three favourite Thrash Metal albums featuring female vocalists, the other two being Détente's "Recognize No Authority" and Sacrilege's "Within the Prophecy", but together with these two also one of my overall favourite Thrash Metal albums which has aged very well and which I still turn back to every once in a while. I just love the raw sound and energy on this album! I also have got "All Hail to Thee"-EP, but the songs don't do much for me.
BTW The bass lines for Act Of God were played and recorded by Ampdog a gentle giant that i played with in a Chicago band called PreyN Mantyz soon after Ampdogs departure . Some years later i shared a practice spot with Alex Olivera( ex Assault )and we have kept in touch a lil over the years .
I only learnt about this band recently, after searching for Thrash Metal bands from Chicago. We know there were no shortage of acts from L.A./San Francisco or New York. The only Chicago Thrash acts I could find were Znowhite, Cyclone Temple and Aftermath. The latter band found themselves in a ridiculous trademark dispute with hip hop artist Dr. Dre over the name! Dre wanted to use it for his record label, Aftermath Entertainment. He offered them $500,000 but went ahead and took the name anyway without paying the band or their label. What a guy. They ended up changing the name to Mother God Moviestar and moved away from Thrash to Alternative Rock.
Absolutely loved this little mini documentary here, such an underrated and well-deserving of the acknowledgment band

So glad you covered this iconic Chicago band ! They were awesome and Act of God is a true metal masterpiece !
I still love that 1st E.P. all these years later. Where is Nicole now? No one has been able to find out what she's doing these days.

Kick em When They’re Down is my favorite album by them. Sounds like a cross between Motörhead and Rush.
Sparks was on drums
