Oh my god, we had this on our computers at school as a kid! It's existed only as a memory for so long I had no idea what it looked like anymore. Thanks SO much for this vid.
are u kidding me, this is exactly the same feeling for me. i just happen to spot the thumbnail and recognised it from a childhood memory in the early 90's
Damn this takes me back to being a 5/6 year old in the mid 80's. I was in awe over this game but the teachers rarely allowed us to play it. They had this BBC computer in a room (the only computer in the school) and would take us in to fiddle around with it. The first Windows based PC I saw was in 1991 but it was a teachers personal PC which she kept in the classroom. Paint was about the best thing on it. It wasn't until I got to high school that I actually saw a dedicated IT room with more than one computer. No internet connection back then. A completely different world.
Did you have the game where you had to build a motte and bailey castle too? Had to send out so many hunters, so many gatherers, so many woodsmen, and with very limited resources... I could never get the keep built all the way
Lol, I used to be contrary and answer "No" to the questions. The game would just say, "Yes you do/can" and continue. Cept when it asks "Do you want to help the king and queen" and you answer no, it goes "That's not very nice!" and continues regardless. XD
OH my goodness! It's funny how much of this my brain had remembered! That witch!!! lol! I'm sure there was another game too called "Suburban Fox" where the player got to be a fox roaming around the city and had to do certain things to survive.
In the 90s when I found out my mother had given away the Acorn because me and my sister hadn't used it in a number of years, I felt like she'd given away my favourite stuffed animal. Thanks for uploading this!
I never came across this version until I got to play it at a retro gaming convention in the 2010s! My class in Infants had the Acorn Archimedes version, and my 6th Form had a CD Rom version for Windows!
Thats great. Ive never played the Archomedes version. You can get it this version on the Apple App store for iPad or iPhone now from the original publishers. (It costs 3.99.)
this game was fucking legendary. my mum was a teacher so after school I used to play this game every day, pretty sure I'm the only kid in the history of our school who ever beat all 5 parts
I'm 33 and this was my memories from primary school, made me rather upset watching it. I remember another one were you flew a plane out at the end if you completed it I feel like it had rupert in it.
@@paulward2076 It was excellent. Computers were so new and exciting. I remember coding a map of the Isle of Wight using the draw command in BASIC that took weeks to complete and it was fantastic fun.
Wow I swear I remember something like this at my school in like '95 or something but I remember it being almost like an arcade cabinet and there were more graphics, I remember a pot being in the room and some stairs going up to a landing, been trying to find what that was and this feels very close to it, v strange
I recorded the sound but there was none to record... I don't know if its an issue with my copy. I think there is none. Although I must admit, I don't remember hearing any sound when I played this in the 80s anyway.....
we had another game called Pod if I remember right. Pod was this red alien looking thing ... you had to type in commands for him to do stuff like "MAKE POD BOUNCE"... could be what you're thinking of?
C S5 No that’s not it. He was a red robot boy who looked alot like Mario. You could even make him jump instead of walk. The first level involved a castle, woods which were a dead-end, and a mole popping up from the path from what I remember!
Do you remember the one with the clowns? I think it might have been a spelling one, and the clowns would throw a pie in the face of another clown (your opponent )
I’m 41 I remember playing this in the 80s when the was only one computer in the entire school, the good old days lol
We must of been lucky, one BBC computer per classroom.

That witch used to scare the s*&t out of me. Seeing that video triggered some old memories, thanks for the upload.
LOL, she scared me too!
Yeah, it was the 'she's coming to get you' part which still scares me
Me too!!!! But I bought the iOS version to try and conquer my fears 😂
Me as well! The way her eyes and mouth moved and the music was just terrifying
This game terrified me back as a 5/6 yo in school. Still no idea what you were supposed to do in there.
I was about the same age when I first played it at school and felt the same.
Had this on a school computer around 1990 amazing
Ahh back in those barmy days of wandering around with a stick, throwing apples at snakes.
Life lesson there, if you see a snake... throw an apple at it!

That really sucks! Sorry to hear that, should have kept that!
I played this in school in the 90s...amazing to see it again

This was literally my introduction to gaming.
i remember this from about 1985 here in australia on BBC computers our teacher played it with us
Glad it brought back some memories.
Thanks! We had an after school computer club where we used to play this game.
This, dare devil dennis and flowers of crystal were my school 80s bbc micro memories
I did a video on dare devil, remember playing at school too.
Glad you enjoyed... I must look up Dread Dragon Droom :)
Àaa
Even as a six year old, I still thought it was incredibly tame that a supposedly wicked witch would simply ‘send you home’ when she caught you.
I'm 33 and this was my memories from primary school, made me rather upset watching it. I remember another one were you flew a plane out at the end if you completed it I feel like it had rupert in it.
I remember something like that too, cant quite remember the name of the game though.
I'm 43 now and played this at school. It is staggering how far computers have come in 40 years.
Yes its hard to believe isn't it?
@@vauxhalldotnet It certainly is. I am old enough to remember what was basically still an analogue world. It's sure as hell digital now.
Remember how good playing this at school was?

They were exciting times. I remember getting a second hand zx 81 for christmas and it was the best present ever.
Wow I couldn't believe this was on here brings back memories LOL! I wonder if through the dragons eyes I on here?? Lol
Was dragons eyes the same type of game?

There have been updated versions of this game.. so maybe.
The black beams can stretch.
*They can stretch really high.*
They can stretch high.
I kept expecting a jumpscare, too quiet...
The graphics alone are scary enough! :)
will search ROM for emulator, are versions differ at quest and puzzles for different 8bit computers?
I think they are all pretty much the same, but ive only played the BBC version and seen screenshots of the others.
@@vauxhalldotnet yes, game is the same, only graphics differ: some have pictures of rooms others doesnt
Sound?

I remember another video game I played alongside this one. Something about a little red robot boy. Anyone remember the name?

I remember it. It was killed Adolf Hitler's clown party 🤡: Arbeit macht pie 🥧
Black Magick Hooliganz rise :)
Oh wow, I remember this pile of wank from school in the mid 80s.
