Sharpay and Ryan's song in the beginning was actually super great because of the fact that it was supposed to be a love song but because they wanted to sing it together, they turned it into a super sweet song about them being siblings.
I've always loved them more because they actually performed and stuff rather than just sing their parts like Troy and Gabriella

My favorite thing I noticed about Chad is that he literally always carries a basketball. My friends and I call it his emotional support basketball since there’s almost no scene in the movie where he doesn’t have it 😂

@@chococatrocxs it was Vanessa live however for the movie because her and zac were so young they couldn’t hit certain notes so they mixed there voices with other peoples but 2-3 is zac and Vanessa’s actual voices
I noticed it when I was younger but I thought my ears were just bad lol. As I got older I became more suspicious.
I had noticed Vanessa's voice changes!! Also, in the Lizzie Mcguire movie, when she sings What Dreams Are Made Of, there are like 3 or 4 different voices, especially at the end of the song haha
And they always said that Zac's voice was not in the 1st movie but you can actually hear him in the first lines of both The Start of Something New and Breaking Free and the voice change is soo noticeable 👀

They both had vocal dubs (obviously Zac had for the whole movie) but hers is awfully noticeable. I just love how the vibe of these movies are like Gabriella loves Troy, hates him, tries to leave him, loves him and repeat 3 times 😂

To throw another musical into the mix where Zac Efron actually gets to sing (and shine!) and for just a generally damn good time, I'd highly recommend Hairspray! So many talented singers there!

I’m gonna say this loudly and proudly, I know every lyric from every hsm movie 😂 this was my life growing up and to this day even though she hasn’t got the strongest voice by any means Vanessa’s tone is by far one of my favourites
I do too and I genuinely listen to a lot of these songs in my go to playlist.
I thought I heard that they hadn’t written the songs for Zac’s range for the first one but did for the other two movies. Props to Drew Seely for the first movie!

The squeeze that you hear a lot, the faux Britney thing, was very much coached and intentional in Disney musical kids. Several former Disney kids have talked about how that style was taught. So then you hear then later, post-Disney, and they drop it fully.
You know you’re a grown-up when you realize you totally understand the equations that Gabriella is being a genius on. And then you realize that those questions are actually not that complicated I learned the stoichiometry question in 10th grade

hey hannah! yes, zac didnt sing in most parts of his songs for hsm1. however, you can hear his voice at the beggining and ending of start of something new and breaking free. he does sing entirely for hsm2 and hsm3.
From what I recall, the songs were too high for him so Drew Seeley sung in this movie. You can find him with Selene Golmez on Another Cinderella Story to see him sing

Fun fact: my uncle is friends with the actress that played Ms. Darbus. He went to the premiere of the third film with her and sent my sister and I a bunch of cool stuff.
Also, Vanessa was 17 when they filmed since they filmed it in 2005.

@Crystal Spencer back in the days, Disney did a HSM special with little side notes/bubbles during the film, and during that part the little note said it was Lucas singing Zac’s part

This comparison hurt me because while you're absolutely right, Sharpay is also waay more likeable than Rachel (at least to me) and now I'm questioning everything.

bop to the top is still one of my favorite songs of the movie, bad spanish? yes, but still spanish XD as an spanish person it made me feel like they actually acknowledged living in a prominently spanish speaking community place with that. bad? on sharpay, yes, because Ryan's pronunciation is well done
I was always going back and forth on Bop to the Top. As a Puerto Rican, I liked that Spanish was at least included. As a Latina with functioning ears, I always cringed so hard at how badly they spoke it. The rest of the song was that cheerful kinda cringe that was sort of energetic and catchy enough to (almost) forgive the cringe factor, lol.
Fun fact: Zac Efrons voice can be heard briefly when they sing at the auditions for like the first line. After the first(?) movie, he voices troys singing voice

Zac usually sang the first and last line of his songs in this film (like in Start of Something New, Breaking Free) and Drew sang everything in between. But there’s a few moments where it’s just Drew (Getcha Head in the Game, What I’ve Been Looking For ).

I saw in an interview with Zac Efron that most of the last sequence was the first take. He said they did it all in one day cause they had maxed their budget and they only had the facility for that day.
I did the “all in this together” choreography with my high school classmates 3 years ago lol it was pretty great
The berets are often worn by tuba and sousaphone players in marching bands because the normal hats, worn by the rest of the band, often get in the way of the instrument and vice versa. Those were the pep band folks from the previous scene. 👍🏼😊

I did a play of this last year and I absolutely loved every second of it besides all the drama but that normal middle school behavior
YES FINALLY! Someone noticed it! I’ve noticed this for years and I thought I was genuinely going crazy because even on the soundtrack random parts of her voice are dubbed!
Call me crazy, but I'm pretty sure that, while there are definitely different takes spliced together, all of Gabriella's singing was done by Vannessa Hudgens.
Whether you believe it's lipsynced or not, the "Live" performance demonstrates her transitions better than the movie version. Specifically in the second verse after the key change you can hear her voice sound very similar to the "different" voice in the first and lower verse, but also seemlessly move into her usual sound. Which to me is stark evidence that V Hudge sang it all.
Same can't be said for Troy, obviously. Zac only had some intros, outros, spoken lines, and the balcony reprise in the film and everything else was Drew.

Have you ever seen the misheard lyrics version of HSM 1? It's like a 30 minute recut of the film from the guys who do the misheard lyric videos. They even do that final song as a full song. It's HYSTERICAL! And I bet you would love it.

The most unrealistic thing about these movies is that they show them living in this big beautiful houses and then expect us to believe that they're both poor for the next two movies and desperately need scholarships to afford college. Also PLEASE react to the other two! Even after all these years, these movies are my guilty pleasure, and the second one is definitely the best one.
