well after some time away from the water just thought id do some prep and make sure am cluded up befor i sail my new to me little boat from Pwllheli back to Conwy and trust Mike to be here with a super helpful video! cheers Mike happy sailing
Thanks for the mention! We shot through Bardsey sound at 9+ kts, then the tide slowed us to about 3 immediately around the corner, so we slowly clawed up to Porth Dinllaen... Lots of pot buoys, some being dragged below the surface... Will consider being closer in next time depending on conditions..
More than welcome, nice to say hello 👋. Pots pots pots I see them in my sleep and as you say they can linger just below the surface. Hope your days are pit free. Regards mike
Watched you come in from the la la rally today. Looked like fun out there. Took some pictures if you want them. Nothing spectacular, just a couple of you entering the river.
Hi Mike. Just looking for a bit of advice on the Peninsular. I sail a Lugger, so a big dinghy!! I can land her anywhere as long as it's not too rocky when dried out. I have sea legs now and have gradually made my way around Anglesey already in stages!! I'm planning an overnighter from Y Felinheli / Dinorwic and just letting the tide take me as far out and back again the next day. Hoping the ducks all line up so you can assume it'll be close to neaps, SW wind ideally, no more than F4/5. I know the common advice is the last anchorage is at Porth Dinllaen, but are there any other places beyond that where a Dinghy could anchor up for the night? I seem to remember a video about a secluded cove with a pub up the hill but can;t find that anywhere on the maps!! Any help appreciated.
The anchorage you’re thinking of is Porth Dinllaen. Not too good if north in forest but you can pull up the beach. Wouldn’t do Bardsey sound in a f5 in a drascombe. I’ve sailed drascombes and found they can swamp quite quick in any type of overfall. F4 or less I’d say and yes neaps of course. Regards mike
Hi Mike, hope all is well not seen many video’s lately hope your ok. I know the weather has been awful but hope your still managing to sail / motor in those few days of good weather. Look forward to your next video.
Ye not done too much of late, health good just logistics. Did Barts bash this weekend and came 9th. Won’t tell you how many boats there was 🤣. Earlier this year I was in Caernarfon and after that I’ve not seen my cameras ☹️. Ain’t replaced them as yet. Swallow coming out next week for the winter 🥶. Regards mike
Great video`s you have taught me so much about what actual sailing is like... thank you. Noticed swallow is for sale hope all is ok with you and yours! Best Wishes
@@sailingcosiloveit Well Mike i hope you wont mind me saying you have a great narrating style, far more engaging than any other sailing channel, with a vast amount of knowledge that you impart with humour and humility. These are rare qualities, that could be translated to many other areas, instructor, voice over etc etc. perhaps food for thought. I have been stuck in the house recovering from back injury and your video's have kept me entertained, and helped me scope out a future entry into the sailing world. so thanks once again, and i hope you re-find yourpurpose you are a top bloke. Best Wishes.
Mostly got a corrupt memory card and only got a little data that seems any good. Life upside down at moment, try and get a grip soon. Kind regards mike
Have you been to the Ty Coch, on the beach? Voted the third best beach bar in the world. Often walk across the beach to it from the NT car park at Morfa Nefyn.
Another very informative transit. Thank you. Keep ‘em coming.
Cheers 🍻
Thanks for the wonderful navigation video. I’ve saved it to my navigation for yachts playlist . Looking forward to visiting sometime

Funny to see how welsh and breton place names can look the same : "Pen" (Penn in breton), "Carreg Ddu (Karreg Du in breton)🙂
