Calls in to mind being out in the snow covered country side during night, feeling the bite of the cold, free from the light of towns and cities, free from the sounds of cities and towns. Just you, the frigid snow, the silence, and the vast endless expanse of the star dotted sky above.
This song is everything I aspire to as a musician. I'm from Australia and the closest thing I've heard to this has been in film and video game soundtracks. I just started studying music full time this year and this is the kind of music I want to make. Love the mixture of classical and electronic instrumentation and haunting vocals. So glad I found you guys!
+Aris Sophia Haha High Five! Where are you from? I do know that they will be touring with Anneke van Giersbergen in Holland! Here is their facebookpage, so you can stay updated about upcoming shows: facebook.com/arstidir/app/123966167614127/
Majestic. I've waiting for months hoping you'll be coming to France. Guess I'll be hoping for long. I should come in Iceland just to see you ! (And the country too of course)
Greetings from the US. This is my new favorite band! I have no idea who listens to music from the US, garbage, almost all of it. Its so rare to find a good musician in my own country. This stuff you put out is amazing. Thank you for enriching the music world.
+Bridget Foreman I wouldn't be so quick to down your home and hearth because it's "so rare to find a good musician in my own country." You have to actually look.
The US as almost 400 million people. The amount of amazing music which comes out of that area of the world and is exported world wide is incredible to say the least. The amount of wide ranging cultural influence the USA has had world wide through it's musical outpout is second to none, especially from the African American community and also in other areas like movie/game scoring, metal, country etc.. It is certainly anything but rare to find a good musician who comes from the USA, in my opinon.
After reading the lyrics, it could be interpreted as a reincarnation of Ymir, actually. It all kind of fits to the story. If you ignore that mythological stuff it's still a great song though.
Well, some of us have it to listen to at home. I got the CD for my Bose Mo-chine years ago. Probably drove my downstairs neighborsta little crazy listening to it.
On their website :) Mér líkar svo vel hvernig þú segir sögur þær flytja mig í annan heim Á fjarlægri slóð greini ekki lengur hljóðin né vindinn, reika þyngdarlaus Sólina hvergi sé öllum stundum gleymi mér himinhvelið yfirgef Óreiðan eykst stöðugt með niðurbroti það rennur allt sitt skeið Þá dreifist orkan í fögrum dansi handan tímans verður til geimryk sem umbreytist í ljós Sólina hvergi sé öllum stundum gleymi mér og hjartahólfin fyllast undur sem það er hið taumlausa afl sem sendir mig aftur heim

Great song to chill to, the melody that starts at 1:30 reminds me of the Da Vinci's Demons theme, love it.

If you ignore the lyrics it sounds like a prosa to Ymir. Really impressive.

Mér líkar svo vel
hvernig þú segir sögur
þær flytja mig í annan heim
Á fjarlægri slóð
greini ekki lengur hljóðin
né vindinn, reika þyngdarlaus
Sólina hvergi sé
öllum stundum gleymi mér
himinhvelið yfirgef
Óreiðan eykst
stöðugt með niðurbroti
það rennur allt sitt skeið
Þá dreifist orkan í fögrum dansi
handan tímans verður til
geimryk sem umbreytist í ljós
Sólina hvergi sé
öllum stundum gleymi mér
og hjartahólfin fyllast
undur sem það er
hið taumlausa afl
sem sendir mig aftur heim
