    Thanks Vicky. This is absolutely astonishing. Do you think this makes manual linking unnecessary or is that one of the inputs that feeds this plugin? One of the things I noticed is that it makes a meal of daily notes - if I happened to reference unrelated topics in a daily note, now, suddenly they are related.

      I have and use one for all client notes, business meetings, group coachings. It's great but the implementation with other things isn't that exciting. text recognition is sub-par in my opinion (or it's my handwriting), but it's a great tool. Yes! I'm currently putting together a video on zettelkasten and creativity. My perspective is that our entire lives are what we pay attention to, and zettelkasten is a way of organizing observed knowledge, so better and more accessible organization means easier access to artist connections and projects. I try to use my zettelkasten for a lot of questions. Since I'm a composer, I use a rastrum to draw music lines on my index cards (or if I'm using digital I take a screenshot of the music notation software I'm using and put it in obsidian) and save ideas that way. I think it's a great way develop creative habits. Don't be afraid to make seemingly useless fleeting notes into permanent notes; you never know what a project might take inspiration from.

    I do not understand how to properly use this. It appears extremely conveluted to me. I've only had it being able to properly use a system prompt 1 time. After that it immediately became unable to do it again. I can't use it to access notes or anything else pretty much. I am able to chat, that's it. I'm not using ChatGPT as I don't trust the company, but trying to use OpenRouter.
    This is what I'm trying to do: I'm trying to use the System Prompt function that I have had work just once in order to run a simulated chat with an onboard AI machine in Barotrauma. But though I've named the prompt properly, and the plugin explicitly tells you to use @ to access system prompts it has never worked. Not once. For now I can do a workaround with "Based on my notes" but that doesn't cover long as it doesn't recall our conversation and I'll have to "reactivate it" forever.
    I feel like I'm doing something wrong, please help.

    Thanks, Vicky. I really like this plug-in and have been using it for a while. The embeddings mapping from text to multidimensional vectors into the LLM look to be part of the ChatGPT4 code interpreter and Claude2 text upload techniques. Let's hope it gets rolled out to the more powerful models. For many decades I've seen commercial software (and my own code) underutilise the available hardware. Is this the first time in history that the speed of software complexity growth and its usage have outstripped the available processing?

    Your other point is right, with chemistry, things change properties.
    Water isn't one of the most heaviest substances, Water is a combo of atoms, there is nothing more basic than an atom. The heaviest atoms are the metals. And the heaviest is iridium/Osmium. Everything else in the world can be changed and broken down to an atom, an atom cannot be changed or broken down.

    Great video Vicky; I always enjoy your content. I think a discussion of the privacy implications of Smart Connections is probably warranted off the top. It wasn't initially clear that a user may want to exclude sensitive files from the plugin.
    I'm sure this won't be a popular opinion but people write very personal notes in their vaults and once these are siphoned up by Big Tech, it can never be reversed.

    • @ezzellvfx2169

      I think it's pretty baffling how people integrate tools like this into their private life and even business matters without much thought on the privacy implications. I mainly say that because I think the risk is too great allowing a tool like this the ability to scan all your notes at once, even with the ability to exclude folders. I understand the convenience factor, but again too many risks. We need privacy preserving options.

    Uff, the hydrogen and oxygen analogy is just... Wrong.

    • @VickyZhaoBEEAMP
      @VickyZhaoBEEAMP  9 місяців тому

      😆 fair point

    • @RupertBreheny
      @RupertBreheny 5 місяців тому

      Yes, this inadvertently demonstrates why you have to be very very careful with AI output. Hallucinatory pseudoscience at its worst.
      Oxygen occurs naturally as 02 with atomic weight of 32, Hydrogen is only 1. A molecule of water weighs 18 atomic mass units. What actually happen is two gaseous elements oxidize to form a new compound, a water molecule, which because of the difference in phase (liquid not gas) has an increased density. So a liter of H2O weighs much more than a liter of O2 at room temperature and 1 atmosphere pressure.
      Just do a quick double check in your head when you see answers like this. As a thought experiment fill a bath with water and go around your house dropping things in it. Most of what you throw in would sink, proving that the density of most of our everyday objects is greater that water (or heavier as AI puts it).
      Thank you though for an important demonstration. AI can be a really useful tool, but only if it augments our critical faculties and does not replace them.

    • @RupertBreheny
      @RupertBreheny 5 місяців тому

      Here's a better example of the transformative power of chemistry. If you took a body and put it in a warm bath of of sodium hydroxide then one of hydrochloric acid you could dissolve all the flesh and bones in a few hours. But if you mixed those two baths of hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide together, you would get salt and water and a very nice warm spa treatment you could float around in very comfortably for as long as you wanted.

    • @BlendtutsES

      Same here. I wouldn't want the AI (this particular one that is "on the cloud" and accessible to everyone) being trained with my personal private thoughts and sensitive business data and information.
      I think I'll wait for a bit: these models are rapidly becoming local and open source, so I wouldn't be surprised if this will be possible in a matter of a few months with a local solution (that doesn't involve sending all our data through the internet and helping train some company's AI) if you have a decent computer that can run such models and do the training.
      I guess it all depends on what type of data you work with, and how much you care about its privacy. Also how much you're willing to be fiddling with such technology and deal with it yourself or let some external company do it for you.
      That said, this is AMAZING - it's basically the main feature of MemX taken to Obsidian!

    • @christiank9447
      @christiank9447 9 місяців тому +1

      @@BlendtutsESI have the same thoughts, very important to think about! As for OpenAI's API they state nothing is used for training and one has to opt in for training. Using their services like ChatGPT one has to opt out of training.

    • @BlendtutsES
      @BlendtutsES 9 місяців тому

      @@christiank9447 Yes, I've seen those terms. Unfortunately, given the way they trained the models without any care for copyright or consent (even the notion that you have to opt out by default is preposterous), basically scrapping the entire internet, makes it difficult for me to trust that they are not somehow using that data for some purpose or technology we may not even know about yet. That's why even though I use ChatGPT occasionally (and I also use the Text Generator plugin for Obsidian), I'm less comfortable trusting OpenAI with a bunch of sensitive data.
      That said, I've seen that you can choose which folders to upload for the training, so it may be interesting to isolate the most sensitive data and use the AI with the rest of the vault.
      But I'll be more interested in local solutions that are starting to pop up that don't require to upload a bunch of data - not only because of OpenAI or having data floating "on the cloud", but because I would prefer to not have to rely on having Internet access to be able to use the features.
      Nevertheless, while I'm concerned about the privacy and the use of our data... this whole thing is amazing, and years ago I couldn't even think this would be possible so soon. Love it!

    Your channel has no patterns in your uploads for growth for new subscribers. Thus would discorages new viewers I feel, I like a lot of the creative content you put out. But in terms of knowing how to help out newcomers its really just stagnet. And your focused based on your progress alone in particular projects vs working with your community it seems or helping new subscribers.
    Thats what I kind of got from your channel as I understood a lot of the video's and the way you think. I hope your able to help others more and learn how to not sale so much in your video's. This is small constructive criticism and hope you take this well.
    Things you could do better ?
    -Upload more
    -Personalize your videos
    -Explain why you saying what your saying
    -The Benefits to XYZ
    -Resive old content to stay up to date with updates,services and new changes.
    -Review the changes and explain why or your thoughts of why.
    Im sorry i just didn't feel connected to it as a human being and I understand a lot of things. Obsidian is really good and am able to fly on it, but how you linguistically explain things seems entirely too complex to others that didn't understand i feel. There are easier approaches i feel to expand for others to comprehend more.
    Just a thought and a little feedback - good day !
