OMG +cuddleblossom this is the most brilliant pad tutorial ever. I am totally going to make a tab, and stop cutting out my backing completely I think it will make my sewing so much cleaner and nice looking Thanks so much for this tutorial
Girl use those crayola markers fabulously lol too many people out here obsessed with latest notions and gadgets that cost twice as much!! Awesome video.. very helpful!!
After seeing this video. Why worry about inhaling those toxic tie dye powder colors to make a tie dye pad. Just use an old shirt A lot easier to do, plus a lot better for our health. :) Thanks for this video.
Thank you for posting; this is super helpful! I'm in Tennessee and didn't have any of the usual materials on hand, and in store they were too expensive. Looking forward to trying these out on my next cycle.
I recently started making pads and I am hooked!! Very informative video! Thanks for that. I would just like to mention that for me, I would have loved to see you machine actually sewing. I meant, a different camera angle? That helps me. Also, a walking foot has made sewing the core a lot easier and neater for me. 👍🏻 Thanks again
I am so jealous. I have no sewing skills. Loved this video though! and what a great idea to use pieces of fabric you have around the house .. upcycling as you called it. Do you find that there are certain fabrics that are more beginner friendly to use? (as far as not bunching or slipping around etc)
I've had a sewing machine for years! Lol. I was intimidated but I finally figured it out so I could make my owns pads. You literally need half a day to learn the machine and be able to do a pretty good job. I was very comfortable after one day. I really enjoy it now. You should definitely try, you could even do it by hand.
This is a great tutorial! I am curious however to know if there was a reason you didn't sew the core down from the core side instead of the topper side? Does it matter if I do it from the core side?
I don't think it matters. I'm assuming she did that to line up the wavy stitch she used on the topper. If you used a straight stitch, this wouldn't matter.
Super cute idea with the upcycle Tshirt material and towel. I too live in the south and wouldn't have anything flannel to part with. I haven't tried making diy pads yet but want to. Are the snaps comfortable while sitting?
Julia Roldan definately for the backer it would be great! I'd personally only use on top if it's a micro fleece (less sweaty and more reliable for fluid to pass through) ❤
Thank you so much. I have to upcycle to start a stash. I have t-shirts and pj's galore. I just didn't know what else to use as a water resistant backer. Any suggestions?
I like the idea of your video, I was very interested, but I lost count of how many times you said “um” and smacked your tongue the roof of your mouth. It made it really hard to watch. I had to mute you after 4 minutes.

Thanks so much for this tutorial
I'm curious if upcycling swimming shorts would be a good water-resistant layer if PUL isn't available.
I definitely think so, also umbrella material for the bottom part seems like a good Idea, bônus points if it's nit a colorful umbrella

thundersnowstorm Yes!! I thought the same thing esp if trying to be chemical free as much as possible. No dye on your lady parts!!
Fantastic tutorial, turned out cute and you made it look so easy!

Hello I just have a question how many layers of the towel would you use for a medium or heavy flows?

Gonna do this for school so people don't hear that plastic ripping sound 😂
LOL
xPickles lol
Thats hilarious.. even though I know the other women in the stalls have a period.. I still quietly(ashamed?) open the pad.. 🙄🤦♀️
Our cycle should never feel or be shameful. We should embrace what our reproductive system does 🥰
Loved this video great job!
Great video! Thank you!

Dixie H Yes they are! I use that kind and I don’t feel them
Thank you for this :)
When I did this my machine got all messed up the stitches was pulled and did not work. Any idea why?
Can happen when sewing terry sometimes and sewing too fast.
Can you use a polyester fleece?
Julia Roldan definately for the backer it would be great! I'd personally only use on top if it's a micro fleece (less sweaty and more reliable for fluid to pass through) ❤
