- Daeron Katz, Matt Newman, and Russ Bullock discuss the recent acquisition of PGI by EG7 and the announcement of MW5 Mercs Xbox versions. They discuss the goals and synergy with EG7, the new simultaneous ship date with Steam and GOG PC versions, as well as the Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC.

Anyone else remember when we paid for MWO to be made, back in like 2010? And they promised us a working campaign single player experience? And then they fucked us all and made it a separate game and charged us again for it? I remember.
I remember coming in during beta and asking on the forums when single player was going to be released, and basically being told to F off by everyone there because the circle jerk at the time was to complain about Faction Warfare.
Then PGI released faction warfare, and it turned out to be some competitive league esport bullshit.
Then I asked again if we'd ever get a single player component and was told to F off in the forums again because the new circle jerk was demanding Solaris 7.
And then again, Solaris 7 turned into more esport bullshit.
The day they announced MW5 I just cut my losses and stopped playing, because I knew I'd save more money than the separate game cost just by not chasing that carrot on the stick that is the ever shifting meta on MWO.
@@whitworth5s248 I played MW5 with the Microsoft game pass for about a month, and it only cost a dollar. It was barely worth that dollar, even with mods. These guys just keep making shit and they know the fan bois will pay for it the day it drops.

What seriously bothers me is how completely blasé you three are about the negative feedback you are getting. "It sucks, I know..., but we're doing such amazing things that justify it." is pretty much your attitude. What you don't seem to understand is the image you've presented your customers and, now, reinforcing that image. Allow me a moment, please, to explain. You have set a date to release new content for MW5. 2 weeks before this is set to release, you make this big announcement (which I only ran across at random thanks to my google newsfeed) that you are pushing the date back to Spring of 2021. No set date, no mea culpas, simply 'this is what we're doing, this is why. go soak your head if you don't like it..' Then, watching this video today, it seems that this process was started back in July. Earlier, actually, but it was about July when you realized that with everything going on, you weren't going to make your DLC launch date. Let's not get in to why. Because the reasons really don't matter. What matters is, you promised your fan base and your customers something. When you realized you weren't going to deliver on time, you decided to wait until the deal was done with EG7 before informing your base that you weren't able to come through. Instead of being upfront and honest with us, you kept pumping us up for the December release.
While I understand the need for profit, being a business owner myself, I also understand the need for a good image. You can do business with someone who is punctual and trustworthy. You have a tendency to be leery of an someone (person or company) who lies, even by omission, and doesn't deliver. If I had a custom order cabinet project and didn't tell the customer until 2 weeks before delivery that it would be another 6 months, they would be demanding their money back and slagging my name all over the internet. They would also be going to my competition.
Unfortunately, you don't have any competition, so you get away with pushing the order back until..., what was it again? April 2021? My goodness.
Perhaps now you understand some of the vitriol you see in your feeds? No? You strung us along then cut us off at the very last minute, and to make matters worse, you had this in the works for the past 5-6 months.
So, yeah, your video didn't help. You or your image as a business.
Telling us that you had this in the works for 6 months didn't help.
Showing us a new mission that we won't get to play doesn't help.
Telling your MWO fans that they're product is fine in the same video that MW5 fans are getting screwed doesn't really help.
Telling us us (and I didn't see who said it) that you don't get as many negative views because you filter your groups didn't help. Actually, on that note, it made you look like a politician who only listens to their focus groups, not to the real world around them (no, that isn't pointed at any particular politician, it's pointed at all of them.)
Summary. Your blasé attitude towards your customers is sad, pretentious and hurtful. Who you were bought out by, doesn't matter. What you have planned for down the road, doesn't matter. What you show us is coming doesn't matter.
What matters is the fact that you lied, you strung us along and then gave us the big middle finger.
That matters.

you guys say the older games have aged poorly, but mechwarrior 3 is still artistically the most battletech looking a mechwarrior game has EVER been. original, classic designs. realistic (though bland) environments. the most simple, basic, functional and realistic HUD the franchise has ever seen. looking closer to a modern fighter HUD than a video game. cockpits with even the most basic, simple amount of thought put into them. shell casings??.... and thats not even getting into the mechanics the newer games lack (mwo, 5 and assault 1 and 2) knockdown, ammo cook off, radar modes, interactive map with plottable cooridinates, RECOIL, IMPACT! getting hit by an AC-20 will knock you RIGHT around somtimes. regardless of the damage it causes... i wish someone else would look at these things :(

True, these aspects are needed. But in terms of controls, it has aged poorly. MW3 wasn't too bad but it was not very user friendly.
Why aren't you releasing the base game on Steam?! I was planning to play the game this holiday, waiting for the ridiculous epic exclusivity to end and now you are simply pushing it 6 whole months for no reason other than 'marketing' (it's pretty obvious).

@@Josh-gg6ct The Medium, Path of Exile a few other don't have much in common with CP2007 either and they still moved out of the way. It's doesn't matter what kind of game your are CP is going to take all the ad spot on all the stores and beyond and everyone is going to be talking about it.
@@321cheeseman Major AAA releases create a sales blackhole for a good couple weeks in either direction for every other game on the market, if you cant understand that, then I recommend you never start a business.
so the inner sphere dlc still isn't out and its still unknown when it'll be coming out after a year in the making but yet you guys are talking about other dlc or updates coming out soon after just release the game on steam and drop the dlc after and make the Xbox players wait until your ready we payed for this project now give us what we payed for.

Here's a customer that doesn't play those games. Now, before you start calling people names, I suggest you think on this. The business promised something, then broke that promise 2 weeks before it was delivered. That's bad business, bad image, and shows that they really weren't focused on their customers, they were focused on their merger. How do I know? Because they said they'd been working on this deal since before June.

@devs Is there any chance for an update which will improve the optimalization of the game? I have fairly powerfull CPU, running stable 100+ fps in games like doom / cs;go etc on high/ultra high graphics. In MW5 however even while running on low details the fps drops drastically, not to mention higher details (drops to 10-15 fps)
No one likes delays, but I hope the extra time will make the update even better.
4 months later, and still no release date for the DLC that Russ claims is already finished. And still no new information about this second DLC that was supposed to be ready in spring.
Russ. It's spring *now.* Cyberpunk was a flop. It's safe to release the base game to Steam players, and give us Epic players access to the DLC. Or at least a release date.
Xbox user here excited to try it out tonight
Still waiting for the Clan invasion to happen. Would buy it instantly but time passes and nothing happens. This could expand the whole feel to Merc 5 dramaticly and even let us fight in those sweet sweet mechs we are waiting for to make a complete experience or even let us fight for a clan of our choosing. How about reporting on such stuff where we get some good and solid info.

You guys lied to us upon the realese (no steam only epic exclusive) now you lie to us once more. I don't envy Daeron that he has to put up with this Bullock character on the daily basis. How many times is he going to screw Battletech fans over in the future. In gaming industry there is always another big title. I love this game and will buy the dlc but only to keep the franchise alive.
There is a bit of irony in it, isn't it? They have postponed the game because they (like many others) were afraid of CP 2077, this is actually not in good condition, which is why I'm waiting with the purchase, whereas my buddy has no desire for the game and is waiting for MW5, others request a refund. The plan of CD Project Red is now to update the game until February 2021 in order to let it run smooth, are now no more games released? I will get me CP 2077 as soon as it runs smoothly, so then probably in Q1 2021.... Courage to the gap dear Devs (Epic should have enabled you anyway a certain buffer).

So, its been on microsoft store sinds 7-5-2020 and its now 27-03-2021 andat full price there. But not yet on steam, are you waiting for the dlc's to be finished? and when is the selling release on steam? bcouse it's still not anounced there. is the planned price for the game that is out for a longer time going to be at max price? bcouse a lot of people do not look forward to this. wishing all the best to the team.

I hope friendly AI is upgraded. I get annoyed in high tonnage drop missions where I run around in a Firestarter doing thousands of damage and dropping mechs like flies yet my allies are lucky to get a single kill in an assault mech. I mean..... Hit something already. Lancemates should be more useful than taking out the occasional VTOL, helicopter, or tank.
With how PGI has been so far...what a load of crap this discussion was and you know nothing going to be improved or changed. Same ol' crap. They have failed on every front and this game MW5 could have been a really good chance to redeem themselves and they blew that too.

Disappointing, I still don't see a clear comprehensive list of changes that are coming in the "free update" or when it is actually coming. This vlog was more "let me explain" but I also "won't get into details" -mind boggling. At minimum try creating a rudimentary roadmap or timeline with a clear list of planned improvements. This could be done as a simple PowerPoint presentation or maybe for an interactive approach place the timeline on trello for MWO and MW5. "This is what we have planned for such and such date, here is the roadmap, etc."
This improves organization, transparency, clarity, planning, and most importantly accountability.
Fans won't be left wondering about generalizations and they won't keep nagging you guys either. Because everyone knows what's up and what is coming- small/moderate timing changes won't be as big a deal.
The internal system you guys have is not cutting it...we all see the results and fans are not happy.
I did not hear anything about coop either which is still very limited with no drop-in system or matchmaking/room system. I want to see a coop rooms/request page integrated into MW5.

setting: "allow drop-ins for campaign" "set restrictions on mechlab" etc.
Coop is also laggy over a LAN- this should not be the case. There is no difficulty slider to allow the player to choose how coop difficulty multiplier is set- right now its is just an invisible arbitrary difficulty multiplier. No clarity. No way to add adjustments.
You guys seem to think a simultaneous release is a great thing...but given the PGI track record I see it otherwise. If you release the DLC on PC a couple weeks or a month early you can get free bug/play testing from PC players so upon Xbox release it will be more polished. If the DLC has issues- a simultaneous release will have you putting out fires on both platforms at the same time... I wonder how Microsoft will react if the DLC is not ready for prime time -> using their IP license, on their platform.

12:29 - Dude, could have just released base game on GOG and Steam, and postpone the DLC. Why do you need to have both PC and Console launch concurrently? Lots of other games aren't in console when there's PC version, and vise-versa. Look at Monster-Hunter World, it's usually waaay behind the console too. Delay is understandable, but the step you took -- the approach you did, that is what is questionable.
So fuck that. I'll see you next year when it's 80% off or something.

So in short... PGI has been acquired by EG7. The same incompetent morons who released a flimsy half-assed product are still in charge. No improvements have been made by PGI to actually fix the game to line up with the promo vids they showed everyone prior to release. Mech animations, Cockpit UI, Map UI, General UI, Enemy AI, Friendly AI and Textures are still absolute garbage. But at least they're selling everyone another mechpack to keep them complacent. In addition, they are for some reason porting this mess of a title to console where it will no doubt go ignored because the games looks and functionality are equivalent to dogshit... Seriously, MW4, MechAssault and Chromehounds did a better job than PGI did with this title...
