As a bisexual Cypriot, lots of these people's answers warmed my heart. I almost cried. I'm still in the closet because I know I would get bullied and made fun of, people would discuss my sexuality as if it were a fucking unicorn or a sphynx, and I'm just not ready to have people question if my existance is right or wrong, if I'm confused, if I'm just gay, if I'm just straight, if I'm sick or if I'm a disgusting sinner.
I also live in a country where homosexuality is not so normal. now are you still without telling people or is there more acceptation? (I do not pressure you if you do not want to answer)
There are so many differing opinions.....when there shouldn't be. I believe we are in an era where there's going to be lots of rebellion against the 'norm', exciting!
Love is not just love there are different types of love there is love for your cat, heterosexual partner, mum, sister, boat, car, homosexual partner, pedophile love for young children. Homosexual love has absolutely nothing to do with heterosexual love as a type of love at all. The sexual aspects of both literally are at other ends of the spectrum and heterosexual loves physical aspect can procreate and reproduce which has absolutely nothing to do with the homosexual concept at all. Whilst I love all the dramatics and redefining of words, facts don't have any respect for your feelings. Homosexuals should invent their own term and move on instead of annoying the hell out of heterosexuals and causing so much nonsense in the community regarding this.
wow !! excellent job Gos in the World!! I didn't expect such a question to be asked to people of Cyprus!! Amazing! I do not believe that a religious marriage is necessary for two lovers but, maybe a political marriage will be enough just for the legal rights in between the love partners of different or same sex. So, I will definitely vote YES to such a referendum since I hope that one day people will live as free as they wish to!
Let's all hope so! Of course, I didn't mention religious marriage since church is an institute which is opposed to homosexuality. But the state should protect its citizens and give them the same rights! Thank you for the support!!😍😍😘😘😘
I think that the homophobic lady who said that having gay parents is not a good example for children, she forgets that 95% of the homosexual population according to the studies come from heterosexual families even that children raised within homoparental families in the future develop more tolerance and receptive with society in general!
(1) Not even a question, I'd vote yes. (2) A very well done for doing this. (3) A very well done for answering back with knowledge and facts to people who said would vote no (despite the older gentleman not accepting some of your facts regarding Adelophopoihsh). (4) I was so happy you corrected the man who called a homosexual relationship "practise" *claps hands*. (5) It's funny that some people who don't agree with same sex marriage start of their sentences as "well I'm not a person who discriminates, BUT...."... Discrimination is discrimination. Even the "I accept same sex couples, as long as they don't flaunt it in public etc I still think is discriminatory. (6) Finally, thank you for mentioning the importance of marriage to the mayor; civil oartnership is one thing and it is great, but like HE said what is important is people of the same sex to not feel discriminated against. Well, not being able to get married IS a discrimination. So yeah, well done!!!! Hope Cyprus is marching on the right direction
Thank you so much for all the positive feedback! It means a lot to me ❤ To be honest, I was surprised by how many people said Yes - I think we Cypriots may not seem like it but we are heading towards equality, maybe not at the moment but in some years ✌
For me that's by far your best video. I think that the most obvious conclusion from this survey is that it's extremely difficult to change the mind of the most of the elderly people and try to introduce to them a new reality or a new event, especially in our country where the christian church has deep roots in the mind of people and generally in our society. I think it's all about accepting this right rather than voting for or against it. That's why we need the young people to participate more in the social events of our country in order to start changing and influencing our society with contemporary ideas and practices. MIC DROP
It would have been awesome if we had recorded the conversation we had with those 4 elder men when they found us as we were about to leave, Gos! It was a whole new experience of ignorance from narrow-minded elders. And unfortunately their views are similar to the majority of people of any age (over 30 at least) here in Cyprus. Great video once again buddy! ;)
Personally I would vote yes! Very nice video!! Interesting to watch what do people in Limassol currently think about marriage equality. I also like the fact that people of various ages were asked for tgeir opinion. Though it would be good to have people who respomded with a yes to elaborate on their opinion.
The Ugandan man should not have been let live in Cyprus if he is going to have those opinions. I suppose we have to learn to live alongside those who have different opinions than we do. Hopefully LGBT human rights will improve in Cyprus soon.
I agree. I was in Limassol last week, for the first time. I am from Israel. I found the people to very nice and the food good. Also, I found many hebrew and Arabic speakers from my country living there. And, we are mainly liberal and support same-sex unions, even if we don't agree with it. I am gay myself and felt welcome in Limassol and plan to visit again. However, regarding the Ugandan man: this is his problem if he don't like gays. He is welcome to go back to his country since his values clash with those from around the eastern Mediterranean area.
Good content George. Although I think you should have asked people of the yes to also elaborate. I personally don't believe in the concept of mariege as it is a very bizarre ideology. Asking permission from the government just to act like I would have freely act without one is like I am supporting it. However, since we do live in a bizarre society where momogamy dominates , I would have voted yes just to promote equality.
Marios Erodotou Marriage is indeed a very debatable concept. Whether or not consenting adults should have the Right to marry - should not be. Thanks for watching dude! 😊😊
Although I have a gay parent, I would vote no for two reasons: 1. The purpose of marriage is inextricably tied with procreation, as the old man in the video said, not ‘love’. This is why even most supporters of gay marriage do not call for the legalisation of polygamy and incest just because the adults involved are consenting and ‘in love’. From time immemorial (literally before the church or state even existed), this is how marriage has been understood, and it is the height of arrogance to assume that an invention of the 21st-century politicians makes more sense than millennia of human knowledge and practice. The early Gay Liberation movements would themselves be against gay marriage because they opposed all marriage, and some older homosexuals regard gay marriage as an attempt to mimic a conservative, oppressive, homosexual institution. 2. I do not believe that a referendum, that is to say weight of numbers, ought to decide an issue like this any more than I would accept a referendum with a majority voting to legalise theft would be just or legitimate. Finally, a man and a woman who choose not to have children do not destroy what marriage is in principle, because in principle procreation remains possible; in the case of two men or two women, procreation is impossible in principle. It therefore guts marriage of its meaning and eliminates the very reason for its existence in the first place. This was best explained by the superb Dr Alan Keyes: ua-cam.com/video/KrD8zvCUtWc/v-deo.html

ch33psk8 But no one redefines religious marriage. All we talk about in that video is about civil marriage. If equal rights insult people, they should ask themselves why first.
Superimposing "marriage equality" on what is an established and widely accepted cultural practice is stamping your claim on another groups belief system and is tantamount to bullying camouflaged as equal rights. Think about it before you say something, because those who know the truth will laugh and wont appreciate you. If your only way is to defend your beliefs by lying what can I say?
