      Yes it is. It's lactobacillus fermentation. It's a controlled rot just like every other type of fermentation. It would be safer if it were inoculated, but still it's lactic fermentation. You need to practice excellent hygiene if you don't inoculate and you should practice good hygiene either way. You just need to be mindful of off smells and taste. You learn what these are quickly.

    • @FourOfClubs
      @FourOfClubs Рік тому +6

      People who ferment meat do not believe in "bad" microbes. We WANT the bacteria because it's a necessary part of the digestive system and its consumption promotes health.

      @@mr.wheatman Germ theory is a hoax. All the bacteria that we are taught to fear is in fact a natural part of our organism. This includes Salmonella, Campylobacter, E. Coli, etc. We consume large amounts of these bacteria, and we even ferment foods to increase their quantity before we eat it because we know they're beneficial. Hundreds of thousands of people have been eating raw animal foods for decades (raw meat, raw eggs, raw dairy) and became extremely healthy because of it. The evidence for this is outright overwhelming and undeniable. I myself have been doing it for years, and I'm still waiting to get ill.
      If you are open-minded and want to learn more look up Aajonus Vonderplanitz. I've already told you too much, not going to spoon-feed you anymore.

      Hey Wheatman, I think you may have misunderstood the sentiment of Clubs' comment. People who eat so called high meat dont deny the existence of various bacteria and microbes, rather they understand that all of these so called "harmful" bacteria exist in a balance in our digestive systems and are essential for good health. It is an imbalance of bacteria/fungus that causes disease which is why contaminated foods can cause poisoning. Generally people who eat raw animal products source their food from healthy animals, which is why if you meet one of these kooks you'll probably hear them spout something about sustainable agriculture or wild harvest. The general mindset is healthy animals make healthy food, contaminated sick animals are unhealthy to eat.

    What is Meat Fermentation?
    Meat fermentation is a traditional method of preserving meat that has been used for centuries. It involves the use of beneficial bacteria to break down sugars and proteins in the meat, creating an acidic environment that inhibits the growth of harmful bacteria. This process not only extends the shelf life of the meat but also enhances its flavor and texture. This typically involves mixing the meat with a starter culture containing beneficial bacteria, such as lactobacillus. The meat is then packed into a container and left to ferment at a controlled temperature for a period of time, allowing the beneficial bacteria to work their magic.

    Personally I think it's the bacteria that creates the good feeling. Humans are already exquisite meat digesters. There's so much research showing that bacterias can make people feel happy. It's no surprise that a scavenger hunter species, like humans, are adapted to symbiotically thrive with the bacteria that feed on meat. It's interesting that the Inuit recommend it for people who are sick, it could be the bacteria repopulating the gut that is so beneficial.
