Nice video! I went there about two years ago and was completely amazed. A great trip in this horrible heat! I know this is a Texas channel, but northern Mexico has the "Cave of the Crystals" and other caves similar to this one too.
Thanks to the National Park System and the many state park systems much of this beauty is being preserved for us and the generations to come. Thank you President Theodore Roosevelt!!!!
You also need to do Natural Bridge Caverns. And also do a bat flight. Texas has the most bats in one place on the planet. Everything is bigger of course :) cause its Texas
Bat flight in Austin at the Ann Richards Memorial Bridge is a sight to behold. Those bats consume about a million pounds of insects every night - mostly mosquitoes
I've been to the Caverns of Sonora. Man, that was the most spectacular cave I had ever seen! And I remember they called it a "living cave" meaning it was still forming features or something? It was humid and wet in there, I remember that. And that one pool of water, that the tour guide showed us, was completely invisible water! You couldn't tell it was water at all, until he dropped a pebble in it.. Wow, so weird. And all those crazy features like the fish, and butterfly, and those wild crystal rooms! Unreal!
Very sad. Glad I was able to see the butterfly when I was younger. Also saw the balanced rock, that was near Enchanted Rock state park, before someone toppled it.
Just got back from there last week Going over the pictures and videos and still saying Wow. Sorry, Sonora isn't even close to it and I'm from So., Tx. Carlsbad will be hard to beat to me. Pictures and Video don't do it justice. 68F down there was a relief when coming from the New Mexico Heat.
@@snatcher420 Sonora is smaller and Carlsbad overwhelms with the sheer quantity of formations and its size. However the pink gypsum gallery in Sonora is unique. It is not shown in this video but it is breathtakingly beautiful, even without the butterfly.
My husband and I stumbled on this last December...Wow! what a find. I have seen a lot of awesome cave/cave systems, especially in Arkansas, but this is like no other. Our tour consisted of us and 2 other people, it is family owned and you just have to go see it yourself.
@@secretsoftexas6872 It is a very nice cave. My understanding is that it was discovered during interstate 35 construction. So glad it was preserved for us all to enjoy
@@May9ninth Sonora Texas is on Interstate 10 between San Antonio and El Paso. It’s 90 miles to Del Rio to the south on 277 south and 70 miles from San Angelo on 277 north. It’s actually out in the middle of nowhere. Lived up there for 14 years. The cavern’s are about 15 miles from Sonora going west towards Ozona off of Interstate 10

It's worth the visit if only to see the "cave butterfly". Amazing formations.
Addendum: I had no idea that the butterfly formation had been stolen!
They think it was some college kids from Houston who distracted the tour guide.

Only been there once. & that was back in June of 1997. I enjoyed it.
Amazing. And the water is so clear. 😲 I think that I am too big to fit down some of them hallways. 😉
