I thought I explained during the video just where the trams ran that this bus replaced. North of the Spot Bridge trams ended 1939, south of bridge 1958.
good video! that bus lane crossing at 20:15 i have heard and i think remember causes quite a bit of congestion in the peak. i think they're doing a project where the bus lane will be continuous which should help travel times
I took a look and it is quite an awkward situation. While a bridge would be nice, rather difficult to do on a steep hill. Maybe something can be done to improve it. I can see how the cars would block the crossing buses in the peak. Maybe a section of red road with big white crossed lines with a sign ‘Keep Clear’ on the ground.
@@tressteleg1 yes. They made some improvements both north and south of the bridge with the new storage area and bus lane since my time. I'll always remember going past all those cars stationary in peak time, like the take the hint. On some occasions the bus was hardly full.
I use a $50 Sony suction cup which will hold anything. This one was done with a GoPro but I also use a small Sony. I only found out the hard way that digital zoom should NEVER be used if you want a sharp image.
This shows how Sydneys transport infrastructure fails No room made for a cycle lane. Where Melbourne excels is this. Cannot imagine riding down here. As a experienced cyclist would be a worry with a Bus up your Butt. Just one horrendous road to drive up and down on in Peak hours.
Judging a city’s transport infrastructure by an amenity used by a minute fraction of commuters is hardly a good yardstick. I’m familiar with that road from my childhood in the 1950s and the same concrete roadway and the road width have not changed since. The hundreds of millions of $$$ required to produce 2 bike lanes for that great distance would be better spent elsewhere. Bikes simply ride in the bus lanes, delaying 80 or so people on the bus. From my tram videos I have seen bike lanes in the typical narrow Melbourne street with trams as well which would be more deadly with the ever present risk of shoppers flinging open their doors in the face of your oncoming bikes, with little space between cars and passing trams. No thanks, and I am a regular bike rider as well.
driver had a good run - thankyou for the video
Thanks. It was recorded around mid afternoon so traffic was not too bad at that time.
Sydney Harbour Bridge. About 90 years old, quality from the good old days👍
Yes. I think little bits of it have been renewed here and there, but largely it has been free of problems.
Very nice review. Did this bus replace trams? Bus only lane is a great idea. Thanks tresstleg1💚😀

@@Roadrunnerz45 Some people can never be convinced to use public transport no matter how good it is.
Hello from a fellow Sydney UA-camr
Not quite, I live on the Gold Coast but sometimes visit my sister at Mona Vale. 😆
@@tressteleg1 🤣🤣
How do you record these. Do you use a GoPro and suction mount or just hold your phone the entire ride?

What city is that? Still a good video 😊
Thanks. Sydney added to title.
