I totally agree with you that selling all natural essential oil soaps colored naturally sell really well at the farmers market. I tried craft shows also but did not do as well as farmers markets. It was great to hear your story on how you got started with your business. Good for you for taking that leap into being a full-time business owner. I still work part time but hope to be full time too as my business grows. Thanks for sharing your story it's inspirational.
Thanks so much Sherry! I'm glad to hear others do well at farmers markets with natural bath & body. My biggest tip I could ever offer is to just do you and be ok with your own journey, and slow and steady wins the race. Enjoy the time your building before going full time. I always thought I'd somehow feel different once I went full time like I'd mysteriously wake up knowing more, but in all honesty I felt a little more lost or behind and it's taken a lot of time to feel secure and confident in doing this full time. Regardless, keep on trucking on your doing great!
I enjoyed your video. It was very informative, & it’s always great to hear the experiences of others who are more seasoned in the soap business-especially since I also do soaps that are naturally colored & only scented with EOs. Thanks!
Hi Danielle, I'm a small business that started 9 months ago and I've been trying to figure out when is the right time to start doing farmers markets for businesses that aren't earning too much yet -- because they can be quite expensive to get started as I've seen in their application forms (vendor fees for the whole season, insurance, renting or buying a tent, displays and signage). It was helpful to hear your thoughts on the goal of earning 10x your vendor fee.Would you say it's a worthwhile risk for a business who is just barely getting by from a financial perspective, to take the plunge into spending on all the costs associated with the market?
I can't say what's right for you but for me it was worth it. I didn't do markets for years. I just did Etsy until I found my rhythm and was comfortable with my products and company. When I did decide to move forward with markets it was a worth while investment for my company but it was more than I expected to pay. I choose to buy most items in one season and not little by little. It was about 3000 when I was done. I'm sure it could have been much cheaper but I wanted very specific things for my "look". Hope that helped on some level.
Looking through events on Fb and attending the event to feel it out, there are a bunch of local GB groups for your area. I live in Massachusetts and there are tons for my state along with New England. I'm my ideal customer so when I go somewhere I like and shop from, I reach out. I also asks my customer (niche) what markets or events they have been to lately.

How did you go about searching for markets in your area? How did you know ahead of time that your niche would be there?

@@SpoilYourselfNatural Thanks so much! This gives me a place to start.
How do you pack your soaps?
In boxes. I have a video thay goes into detail for these size soaps here ua-cam.com/video/WWChHhPxZrI/v-deo.html
Are those cotton balls in a jar?
Yes, I use them for smelling the core line scents so I don't need to put out tons of samples.
What a great idea! 💡
