I'll never forget that day we lost Jim... I was 11 yrs old, riding public transportation to school, downtown Tacoma, WA.
I was crushed as he was my favorite at the time, what a great loss

He died the day after my 13 birthday. September 20 1973. I remember seeing the news & just sitting there realizing I'll never get a chance to see him perform live. I still listen and play his songs. He was a huge part of my life growing up. Now I listen to AJ Croce perform his music

I remember it vividly also, I was 12 and already a big fan, and grieved him. I’ve introduced his music to my children, and was proud to hear my 23 year old son say that there are no bad Jim Croce songs, and he’d be right! I can only imagine the genius songs he could have written.

I’ve always loved Jim’s music. Then when I did research on him for a project, I found out he was also born on January 10th. I guess that’s why I feel so much in his music.
