    When my children were younger we would give them a cool laundry basket on their tenth birthday as a signal that they would be taking over their own personal laundry (with guidance of course). We assigned each child a laundry day to minimize laundry room congestion. It worked out really well.

      I switched to tide pods when I got my oldest who is now 10 to make it a bit easier then switched back so they can get the hang of it. I’ll be doing the cool new basket for my almost 9 year old lol

      Where does one find a "cool" laundry basket? All I've ever seen/bought are boring ones. Lol I've been working with my 10 year old to get him doing his own laundry and I think it might be less "painful" for him if he had a laundry basket he likes. May not work, but I always enjoy cleaning a lot more(or at least not dread a task as much) if I'm using tools I like to get the job done so it's worth a shot to see if it works for him, too.

    I feel like choosing whether or not to have your kids included in videos is an ongoing process. I love that you respect their wishes and also that you’re not showing them on their off days or in moments they likely wouldn’t want the whole world to see.

    I grew up in a big family. My mother was adamant about us being able to take care of ourselves. I went to a college that had many students who came from affluent backgrounds. I will never forget walking into the laundry room of my freshman dorm and a girl was putting laundry detergent on her clothes that were in the dryer! I stopped and she began to cry because she had no idea how to do laundry. I helped her and word got around that I had mad laundry skills. I had a little side hustle going teaching people how to do laundry! I also did ironing for formals etc. I couldn’t believe how many kids did not know how to do laundry! My mother used to say that it was not her job to make her children so dependent on her that they couldn’t function in the real world. She would always say that it was her job to make sure that we could take care of ourselves when she was no longer here. I think that you have the right idea!

      A laundry detergent in the dryer 😂😂😂; at least she has stories to tell about her college days now. actually Sarah herself told us when she got married she didn’t really know how to cook and in a recipe that called for 3-4 cloves of garlic, she added 3 whole heads of garlic 😂😂😂🌺🌼🌸

    • @CJR-bs7eu
      @CJR-bs7eu Рік тому +1

      @@lovalin4139 haha IT remember Sarah telling that garlic story. But yes it's quite sad how clueless so many adult children are. My son's are 16 & 14 & both have been doing their laundry since age 10 also. They can cook whatever they want to eat & if they haven't done it before, I'm near enough that they can ask. I simply see no reason at all why our children can't learn everything it takes to manage a household. If they live with you, these things are being done, in fact for many years I worked outside of the home & of course they were still being done. Just my opinion but I believe their future partners will be very happy .
      Anyway they are all very
      Children are very lucky to have them as parents & ppl

    I am a firm believer in having children do their laundry. Our girls 2 yrs. apart with the second being twins and me working left us with lots of laundry. As young girls they began to argue about their clothes being in the dryer and not finished. I had a meeting and told them from then on they were responsible for all of their laundry. Peace at last!! In our house we all work and try to learn young. I enjoy watching your blogs.

It makes me so very uncomfortable when I see family UA-camrs who take the camera into situations just for the sake of content. How are you going to deal with the ticks? Many people find Guinea hens to be very helpful...they eat the little critters. Ticks carry five very bad diseases ...to remove a tick, take a cotton ball of alcohol and place on tick. This forces him/her to release their bite, and then remove the tick. When the tick mouth parts are under the skin, or not released, the bacteria and virus in their mouth part can continue to force that bacteria/virus into their victim. Stay safe, be happy. I preferred to to do the laundry myself because I usually needed to spot clean and since we passed everything down I wanted the clothes to look good for as long as possible. Back then we had a cart on wheels that I had to drag to the washer and then use a folding metal chair/step stool and go up and down it to get clothes in and out of washer... Once washed I had to push/pull that heavy cart thru the house to the back porch... We had a huge window ...that would open up and had a hook to keep it open..so I would climb up and straddle the window sill and hang clothes out to dry.... Once dried, off they came from clothesline and luckily Mom did the ironing till I was 8 yrs old.... UGH

I may remind someone what *they* need to do, but it's not something I need them to do, or helping me out. If I ask someone to do me a favor, of course I use my manners and say please and thank you for that situation. Otherwise, I provide instruction or reminders, not requests.

    Not happy with commercials either I mute or pay extra for no commercials at all so worth it cuts watch time down on a 30 minute show to 30 so it's like getting a little time back during a day or evening 🙃

    What exciting news!! Your family is my go to on yt. Not only can it be informative and entertaining but it’s done without exploiting your kids. I’ve unfollowed a few because they use their kid’s personal business for views. I’ve seen you, many times, not show a child because they said they didn’t want to be filmed that day. Love your family and their values. ❤

    I have to say here in the Austin area most of the commercials seem to be for ambulance chasing attorneys and drug companies.

    Sara ... I don't have children, but I love you, Solo & everyone of your wonderful children!! You all have been an inspiration to living an live for the Lord! I've also learned so much watch how you manage your home & how you handle everyday challenges that we all face. You do it with grace & love towards each one of your children & Solo. I'm not trying to idealize you, but just wanting you to know that I truly respect & love you for the honest, open , strong & vulnerable person that you are. I do wish I lived next door to your family so I could really get to know you better & fellowship with you personally! I bless you folks!

    I agree about commercials. I'm a great-grandmother and am thankful none of my grandchildren or great-grandchildren watch television. I dropped TV 2 years ago. I have never had cable since 1984 Waste of money. Also. I know you earn money by our watching the commercials on YT. Surely you've seen some of these commercials. I won't watch them. I skip them. I understand you have no control over commercials content too.

    Congratulations on the course launch. I went from living by myself to living with my son and his family including 3 kids. Laundry is my contribution to the household chores. No one really enjoyed doing it and I don’t mind. It gives me something to do. However all the kids do KNOW HOW to do laundry (some tend to overload the washer LOL) and if I’m not feeling up to pare they will do their own. I also took over doing dishes as I don’t like a sink of dirty dishes and they would wait until they were out of dishes. Yes all the kids know how to do them but I have chosen to take on those chores. The kids do keep the house tidy. They sweep and mop the tile and hardwood floors and vacuum the rooms that have carpet. It is very important that they contribute to taking care of the house. It really warms my heart when the kids do things without asking. I like to think I’ve had an impact on that. It takes everyone living in the house to keep it up and keep it a home. Thanks for sharing.
