    Planning on switching out our Coleman Mach thermostat for a Honeywell FocusPro th5220d1003 that we had in our house (switched it out for a wifi one and luckily kept this non-wifi one).

    @Young at Heart Adventures Loved the video. I have the same exact old thermostat that came originally with my RV. I wanted to upgrade my thermostat from analog to digital. But DANG!!! Its $88.00....LOL. For that price, I can get a thermostat that is wifi. But thanks for sharing the video. Happy traveling my friend . :-)

    Have your wire nuts ever backed off and disconnected during driving? I've seen others recommend the crimp on kind wire caps instead of the screw in nuts to avoid them backing off during vibrations. Thanks for the helpful video!

      I have not had an issue..they are pretty secure. But a crimp wire cap does sound preferable.

    Great video! So you don't need to shut down the power to do the replacement? And does your new digital thermostat come with colored wires already?

    • @YoungatHeartAdventures

      It is all low voltage (on the 12V system). If you want you can flip the battery disconnect switch (storage mode) before doing the wiring... but I didn't do that

    Hey man, are you still liking it better then the old thermostat ? Is it keeping the rv temperature more steady instead of kicking on and off constantly? One last question i have seen a video where put insulation behind the thermostat, do you think that’s necessary ?

    • @YoungatHeartAdventures
      @YoungatHeartAdventures  2 роки тому

      Yeah I do like it better than the original... but even this one seems to kick the heat on and off more frequently than I'd like... on my rv the thermostat is on an interior wall so I don't know why insulation would make a difference ... but if yours has a draft in that space I guess it wouldn't hurt

    I ordered mine from Amazon and installed today. Maybe 15 minutes total. No electrical experience at all. Very helpful instructions. Would be good to mention what size of wire connector nuts to use and why. You used gray, I went with orange since that was like the one that came with the new T-stat. Probably overkill but better safe than sorry.

      I'm glad it worked for you! Good point about the wire nut size..I didn't think to mention it.

    Mine comes on the second the reds are connected. It won't turn off without separating the reds wires. Any suggestions?

      The furnace or the AC? Make sure you have the thermostat set for the right mode this time of year and the temperature set to the right range. It should turn on/off as expected. If everything is good, maybe the thermostat is defective?
