Four of us from RC played this build, so we're not going to post the full specs because the comment will be huge. I'll go into each GPU. - Vali played on a 1080 and had to run the game on low. - Chuckie is running a GTX 1060 and had some minor frame drips from 60 to 50 in crowded areas. He also played on Steam deck, where it held 30 fps on minimum settings - I (John) played it on a GTX 2070 Super. I held a flawless 80 FPS on entirely maxed out settings in 1080p, and 60 in 4k. - L2876 played on a GTX 3080 and had similar results as John We were told this build of the game that we played is about a month behind where they currently are in development, so its very likely optimization improved since! Edited for clarity on one of the cards
@@RustyChains I'm guessing you meant its the RTX for the 2070 and 3080, Either way, thank you for replying! Edit: I saw that you had mentioned dedicated servers on the other comment, so I'm assuming the game will be mostly GPU bound during your playthroughs
@@RustyChains i mean that ain't great news for low spec players, the minimum on steam is a 1650, if u had to play on the lowest graphics using a 1080, yea...
I think I would make a hostage based build so motion detector is cool because you can have some hostage scattered around to stop grenades spam but also have the rest located in one room and have a motion detector in that room so if cops in there you know
@@RustyChains I found it depended on difficulty and the specific location in a heist. On higher difficulties it was a pain because destroying it required alot of ammo and ignoring it required taking some serious damage. On lower difficulties the damage is easier to ignore and thus using cover was more practical and destroying it was doable solo. But the big issue was location. If it was somewhere with lots of cover it's fine because you can secure your cover and potshot the turret to death or use the cover to move around it safely. Other places it's outright in the way of the objective and thus becomes a roadblock that's understandably frustrating, although I like the feel it creates of implying the cops grew a brain for a moment and actually tried to cut the players off from their goals and having to come together to deal with it as a group is the closest Payday 2 gets to that "oh sh*t a bulldozer" moment in Payday 1 (and from the sounds of it, Payday 3). But then I'm the guy who brings 2 ECMs on loud heists specifically so I can pop one to make the turret friendly if I need to move bags past it or create an opening to make it easier for teammates to destroy it.
This sounds rly good, getting a back to the roots feeling in a good way. It's like payday the heist ~ evolution edition for current gen. I am so down for this, now if the music is anywhere near as good... I will play this game for a very very long time. Never been a big fan of payday2 ... so yeah can't wait.
You're correct that Bain got got. In our streams, a few people have theorized in chat that President Bain would oversee the or contact the gang as a secret black ops unit. Obviously that's not the case, but enough people have brought it up to us in the past that we thought it was worth mentioning that Bain is out of the picture
I think i might've figured out who the 2 extra heisters are.. And I'm not gonna say neither. All i will say is i believe their signature perk deck gadgets from PD2 are also probably in the game.. 1 throwable and 1 Tool.
i wanna see a different way to bring heisters back maybe mid assault you can see your heister being held up by some cops and if you kill and untie them there back early, but make this spot in a odd spot some where cops can defend.
I love that the difficulty is no longer just “Hey guys, look! Death sentence! Enemies do 10x damage, have 5x more health and there is a couple new variations of enemies.” I do like death sentence because of it’s more tactical play style, it feels like bullets hurt as much as they should. Having enemies act smarter and having entirely new units is such a better way of increasing difficulty, at least it’s better then the “2 medic dozers, 3 mini gun dozers, have fun asshole” bullshit we sometimes get in death sentence.
Perk Decks aren't really a thing this time around, but they mentioned they designed the skill system in a way where they can easily add more in the future. Fingers crossed it ends up in the game through that!
I enjoy the previous game but WOW... These improvements and new things sound awesome. The mini cams, the new smart police units, the sabotagers, larger maps, hostage ideas, no body bags, destruction, and more is a huge improvement since payday 2. I will definitely have to get this when it is released on PS5. I give this game what I hear 👍👍👍👍
I do feel deployables having skills that add a new mechanic is really weird. Like, having more uses of a deployable is nice, but also, you can unintentionally sabotage a team unless they can read your skills.
do the medic bags dropped by hostages restore downs? if so, how many charges do they have? is it linked to your medic skill or an entirely separate skill like mastermind.
So in Payday 3, medic bags are basically just a bag full of first aid kits. A hostage trade or a bulldozer kill will grant one of these first aid kits. Single charge, do not restore downs, act as an un-upgraded charge from a medic bag. If you fully upgrade the medic tree, the final skill there allows it so your own medic bag that you place restores a single down on use
I noticed it says 11 hours time played. did you get the full 11 hours or did you have to sort a lot of issues out and thats why they gave you more time. also can you still play it or not ?
We had very few issues. It was surprisingly stable. Of the four RC members who played, only one person had one crash in the entire weekend. We could have played more if schedules permitted. Some of the other partners DID play more. We had unlimited access to this Press Build from Friday afternoon to Monday afternoon. We can't play it after that. The game is still in our libraries, but the game uses dedicated servers and the servers for the press build have been shut off
Good video. You clearly lay out what the game is like compared to the others. I'm looking forward to playing it. I'm still wary of the microtransactions they said will be added after launch though. I hate microtransactions, no matter what they're for.
Appreciate the feedback on the video! I agree that it micros can be scary. They've mentioned it's just cosmetic though. I know you mentioned you still hate all types but personally I prefer cosmetics to gameplay micros. A lesser evil, I suppose
im wondering, is there a melee system? your video didnt touch on it, and other youtube videos didnt either... it seems like a small thing but i hope theres a melee system
Hello there, thanks for the detailed PD3 video! What can you say about bots ? It seems we can give the money bag to bot for carry, but they don't do it by themself like crime boss rockay city. It would be great if they can collect moneys and carry over bags to van without help.
Great question! You can throw bags to bots, and also call the bots over to you with the follow command. This is identical behavior to Payday 2. However, it seems like they've dropped the command for bots to wait in place and hold a location. The biggest thing we noticed about bot heisters is that they're smarter. If you go down they'll take a direct path and not the long way around like Payday 2. They also have these neat feature where every so often if you're playing solo, bots will drop an un-upgraded version of the deployable you need most in the moment. So if you've been running around without armor for a while, a bot will drop an armor bag for you
@@RustyChains Cool! Thanks for the respond, appriciated it. It would be really great if the PD3 also had collecting money, throwing bag animations and bot heisters do that with themselfs too. Crime boss rockay city really does that great. I wish Starbreeze did the same thing too.
I haven't heard anyone who playtested this build mention it at all, but did they completely remove the mechanic where you yell at regular cops to surrender? Maybe it becomes a skill later on?
It IS a skill you get later on. The description mentions that you can have one SWAT hostage at a time, but its unclear if that's per person with the skill or the whole crew
Ah, so basically medic bags work like how every new player ever to 2 keeps thinking they work. The charges just heal you. So now we don't have newbs wasting our down resets by using it to heal after taking 50% damage with no downs. And by that token the bags also aren't the only deployable you should ever bring since the ones in 2 remove downs from meaning anything almost entirely. Being able to restore downs now is very expensive and will suck up a charge for each down you want to restore. I like that.
Omg a silencer to start!!!! Bruh I kid you not when I say I played up to level 71 without getting a silencer (back when skills had to be purchased and attachments only came from loot cards)
I'm wondering if you could take say a human shield outside to the police and trade them during the negotiations if so I have an evil idea of dragging out the negotiations while one of my crew take a few hostages in the back to be used as leverage for a future assault wave
Afraid not. You can't trade human shields, only hostages that are tied down. The best use of human shields is just for cover. Cops won't shoot you from the front if you're holding a civ unless they have a clean shot at your head. If you're holding a cop as a shield, they're not entirely unwilling to ventilate him and take you down too. Maybe he took their lunch?
Overall, did the devs convince you to change from Payday 2 to Payday 3? I am really enjoying Payday 2 and I'm wondering if it's worth the money to get something that could potentially give me a worse experience.
We are making the jump FOR SURE. Part of that comes from the fact that we all have literal thousands of hours in PD2 with 99-100% completion, so we're running out of things to do. But the shooting, abilities, heist quality, and game changes for 3 all feel like a brilliant next step. Can't wait to play more. That said, if you're still enjoying Payday 2, no reason to drop it if you don't want to! Payday 2 has so, so much content and I'm sure you'll have plenty of people to play with.
Great question! There's a skill tree for faster grabbing and neck breaks. I'm not 100% certain, but I BELIEVE that tree grants temporary buffs for doing it in loud when you grab a SWAT after a flashbang. Stealth is where the mechanic really shines, in a two-part approach. Part 1 is that it allows you to pick up guards right onto your shoulder from the neck snap and answer the pager while carrying them. The benefits of doing cleanup without ever stopping moving is obviously huge. Part 2 is that it is a silent technique. Payday 3 is built in a way where it is easier and makes more sense to continue into loud if stealth goes wrong. There's no concealment or anything, so functionally you can stealth very well with a loud build. If you want to bring two loud guns without taking the silencer damage penalty, which is certainly noticeable, the neck break gives you an option to still help your crew silently deal with guards in the time before the alarm goes brrrr.
They are indeed. Except for Shield, that is. He isn't that Goofy and mostly does callouts to the other cops about how to move because of his new gameplay mechanic
No ammo types this time around, at least at launch. It's largely dependent on the guns, but they're also all very close in damage amounts. It wasn't like Payday 2 were there were complete non-started guns that were just crap
Completely understandable and I will not pressure you to give it out because god forbid I want you to lose a future chance to be invited to another event. Crossing fingers it's Clover and Houston.
So about the 18 months of post-launch content. Since you said Starbreeze is commissioned on that, will there be more content after said 18 months on their own, or will that be the end of it?
The publisher controls content drops for the game, as far as I understand it, so they'll need a new agreement for development after 18 months. Starbreeze told us they hope to keep it going, but it depends on how well the game and DLC sell
@@thefbi3350 Every character released with their own specific weapon. Jacket was just the only one to have their name in the gun's name. I wouldn't bet on any Payday 2 crossover characters returning.
I'd have more faith jacket with return because he fits the vibe. They'd just have to go slightly more serious with his interpretation, emphasis on the sociopath vibes. Maybe melee overkill weapon.
Will sydney make a comeback? And a buddy asked me will this game have a battlepass i told him mostly likely no because it's a pve type game and the way payday works it wouldn't make sense but regardless i'm also Curious and worried if it would be a thing which i hope it doesn't
We can't talk about what heisters will or won't be in the game besides the original four, but the story is set in a way where you can pretty easily headcanon where heisters are until Starbreeze decides to pull them back into the game. There is no battlepass.
There are! The function largely similar to the AI teammates for Payday 2, except with better pathfinding. If they go to custody, they are released after a set 30 seconds. The neat thing about AI teammates in this game is if you run low on resources, they'll drop an un-upgraded version of the deployable you most need.
@@capsortee Because buying a console for 5 games including payday doesn't seem like a sound investment to me, especially considering I'm broke af lmao. I only have a series X because it was a birthday present. At least PD3 is both cross progression and coming to game pass so I'll probably have to play on that for a while before I can move to my preferred way to play payday.
Nice vid, but can you please answer one question that i didnt much hear talked about. Is there any benefit going loud? Or game will now use loud as punishment for failed steatlh, and stealth now the most practical way to play?
from what I've seen from others, especially marioinatophat, stealth is viable and instantly restarting after your spotted isn't that much of a thing anymore since going loud with your stealth loadout is actually doable in loud scenarios and you aren't basically fucked and being horribly gimped and needing to restart everything. In terms of mission design I have no clue if they have stealth only missions or not, nobodies seemed to confirm it from what I've watched. from what it seems like, going loud just means needing to deal with the cops.
Great question! The immediate on-paper benefit to going loud is that you need to raise your Infamy rank (character level) by completing challenges, and a huge amount of those challenges are "Get x kills in one heist" or three tiers of "Get x kills with one gun". Beyond that, I hesitate to say that stealth is more practical. Concealment is gone, as long as you've got a silencer you are just as stealth viable as any other player. This game feels lot more like stealth is plan A, loud is plan B. There's a very natural progression from one to the other if the alarm goes and stealthing at least partially will make the loud phase significantly easier. At least on No Rest For the Wicked (the bank heist job), stealth is significantly harder than loud. At the end of the day, this time around it's more about what you will have more fun with than a material benefit in choosing one over the other
We actually tried this! If you gold a guard for about ten seconds, their radio goes off. A countermeasure to avoid three people holding guards while the last one kills an additional four and uses their pagers
I LOVE the fact that enemies respond to where they get hit. I wish all FPS PVE games implemented that. Other than having bar stats and not numbers, EVERYTHING looks fkin amazing. Months away and already gladly spend $60+ on it. And its gonna be $50 on release??? c'mon.

- Vali played on a 1080 and had to run the game on low.
- Chuckie is running a GTX 1060 and had some minor frame drips from 60 to 50 in crowded areas. He also played on Steam deck, where it held 30 fps on minimum settings
- I (John) played it on a GTX 2070 Super. I held a flawless 80 FPS on entirely maxed out settings in 1080p, and 60 in 4k.
- L2876 played on a GTX 3080 and had similar results as John
We were told this build of the game that we played is about a month behind where they currently are in development, so its very likely optimization improved since!
@@gerutzu575 agree, doesn't sound like great news
I think I would make a hostage based build so motion detector is cool because you can have some hostage scattered around to stop grenades spam but also have the rest located in one room and have a motion detector in that room so if cops in there you know
Now you're thinking with portals
Awww.... I liked the SWAT van turret. It was a great area denial challenge, could be beaten passively or aggressively and ECMing them is super fun.
Conceptually it was cool, but it was a bit of a pain to go out of the way to deal with for me personally. It was just a time sink
i agree it was pain
The music BANGS
4:23 but isnt bain canonically dead and reincarnated as the president? So he cant really "oversee" them
You're correct that Bain got got.
I love how sick the cloackers are of the payday gang that they gave up and started using chemical warfare tactics
They're fed up
i wanna see a different way to bring heisters back maybe mid assault you can see your heister being held up by some cops and if you kill and untie them there back early, but make this spot in a odd spot some where cops can defend.
Agreed! It feels great to play because you have to think about it and it isn't just a numbers game anymore
I hope stoic finds its way into the game, i always loved duke and the stoic perk deck
Perk Decks aren't really a thing this time around, but they mentioned they designed the skill system in a way where they can easily add more in the future. Fingers crossed it ends up in the game through that!
@@RustyChainsik i just kinda hope for something like stoic since i love the idea of taking chip damage and needing to heal yourself
Way better video than the ramblings others are putting out.
Thank you! I spent way, way too long on the script to cleanly flow from one thought to the next.
Sounds like the handler may have an attitude similar to Lydia from breaking bad
I enjoy the previous game but WOW... These improvements and new things sound awesome. The mini cams, the new smart police units, the sabotagers, larger maps, hostage ideas, no body bags, destruction, and more is a huge improvement since payday 2. I will definitely have to get this when it is released on PS5. I give this game what I hear 👍👍👍👍
the cloaker crying is in fact very very funny, i am laughing even that the game isnt out yet
Finally we will bully HIM (when we're not getting ambushed, he is very scary)
The game looks amazing I am very excited to play it. I just hope this one will have less DLC then Payday 2
The DLC model is similar. They've already announced that there will be four heists, four weapon packs, and four tailor packs in the first year
im wondering, is there a melee system? your video didnt touch on it, and other youtube videos didnt either...
it seems like a small thing but i hope theres a melee system
There is melee, but not too in-depth. You smack with your gun and that's about it
Great video 👍
Thanks so much!
@@RustyChains This needs more views, I will share it
Hello there, thanks for the detailed PD3 video!
Exactly. If you're playing loud, you'll definitely want a decent mix of armor and medic bags to keep yourself patched up
Omg a silencer to start!!!! Bruh I kid you not when I say I played up to level 71 without getting a silencer (back when skills had to be purchased and attachments only came from loot cards)
Oof, unlucky rolls on that for sure. It's thankfully much easier to hit the ground running with both playstyles in this one!
I know you can customize the guns color are there any colors that you need to unlock or is it all available to you from the start?
You buy the colors and configurations for a small amount of in-game spending
What are the benefits of breaking a guard's neck instead of just shooting him?
COoler
Is the very goofy voice lines the special enemies say still there?
I find that part incredibly "important"
They are indeed. Except for Shield, that is. He isn't that Goofy and mostly does callouts to the other cops about how to move because of his new gameplay mechanic
You said wolf left due to distaste of star breeze. What happened? Everywhere I look it just says he damaged his throat yelling and couldn't continue
He wasn't thrilled with the direction of the studio and left to form 10 Chambers
Is there a lot of attachment variety like different sights and grips and stocks?
There's about four to six options of each category, yes
I hope the flamethrower is an overkill weapons with damge like the money gun to make it fair
Never even thought about that! They'd fit right in there for sure
I dont like the armour mechanic and medic bag change but I love the change to special enemies
They’ve just gotta add a mini gun as an overkill weapon
Haha overkill weapon go brrrrrr
so the cards are from raid ww2
QUICK QUESTION: How does character level prestige work in PD3?
At the current time there isn't any
There currently is not an prestige system for Payday 3
How damage is this game works ? Is it depend on ammo of the gun using or just a gun.
No ammo types this time around, at least at launch. It's largely dependent on the guns, but they're also all very close in damage amounts. It wasn't like Payday 2 were there were complete non-started guns that were just crap
Hey you said you say a heister's weapon and clothing from Payday two? Who was that? Im hoping Clover and or Houston are our 5th and 6th.
Unfortunately we've been asked by Starbreeze not to say, as that would give it away and they want to keep those last two heisters under wraps for now
Completely understandable and I will not pressure you to give it out because god forbid I want you to lose a future chance to be invited to another event.
Crossing fingers it's Clover and Houston.
Also, I'll take Joy as the female rep too.
I have become religious because of payday 3
every night I pray Jacket will be in payday 3
(yes I know he wont but I can hope)
He did say the 5th characters Signature weapon was in the game. And jackets the only one with one I think
Devs have confirmed there will be no Battlepass
@@UA-camAccount1776thank the lord
We can't talk about what heisters will or won't be in the game besides the original four, but the story is set in a way where you can pretty easily headcanon where heisters are until Starbreeze decides to pull them back into the game. There is no battlepass.
I hope she doesn't come back , her voice acting was ear raping me

I choose to believe that even though the minimum requirement is 16gb RAM, i can still run it on 8 when it releases 😢
Best of luck! 🙏
Do you know if there will be ai controlled teammates for people who prefer solo?
There are! The function largely similar to the AI teammates for Payday 2, except with better pathfinding. If they go to custody, they are released after a set 30 seconds. The neat thing about AI teammates in this game is if you run low on resources, they'll drop an un-upgraded version of the deployable you most need.
@@RustyChains sweet, thanks bro!
Think I found my Payday 3 channel.
How can you stealth without body bags tho?
You can just pick up and move bodies. Killing civs is obviously not advised, but if you do there's no cleanup restrictions

why not get a PS5 instead?
@@capsortee Because buying a console for 5 games including payday doesn't seem like a sound investment to me, especially considering I'm broke af lmao. I only have a series X because it was a birthday present. @@capsorteewhy would you ever do that
Cant you connect a mouse and keyboard to your xbox?
At the end of the day, this time around it's more about what you will have more fun with than a material benefit in choosing one over the other
@@RustyChains thanks, good to hear that loud is stil benefits the player
I think a visual would have been helpful.
I agree, but we were given limited resources by Starbreeze. I showed what we had
@@RustyChains that's alright.
I just wish I didn’t have to wait till sep 18
so you bought the silver/gold edition?
You and me both! The worst part about this playtest was that we have to wait three months to get our hands on it again.
Sad that medics are gon we have lost the goddest boy :(
Pour one out😔
I wonder if you can just hold the lead guard hostage and let the other 3 players stealth the heist 🧐
And its gonna be $50 on release??? c'mon.
It felt very good, for sure. Wild in contrast to Payday 2 where cops don't even have arm hitboxes
Zapper is a dumb as hell name either keep taser of change it to shock trooper or something but not zapper wtf???
In any context outside of videos I'm probably still going to call it a taser tbh

I don’t see this as an issue, the Devs mentioned most challenges are really simple such as “Kill X amount of X” or “Hack X cameras”, you shouldn’t have a problem gaining infamy and it’ll add more variety of gameplay rather than just doing the quickest heist that gives the most XP
