Thanks Rudi. Best advice for these newer guys. Just to let u know how important your msg is, theres a group of youngsters that I sometimes meet at the beach, always targeting big ineds. Not too long ago I asked them if they ever tried for smaller edibles and shockingly they told me they never fish for them cause they dont really know how. Lol. I think many newcomers are missing the old saying: Walk before u run. T C
What size braid and reel are you typically using with surf fishing...I'm looking into surf fishing and trying to figure out what reel and rod to get. I'm looking at the penn carnage 2 surf rod 12' and 8500 slammer 3. But don't know what size braid to go with, I want to cast really far... Thank you for sharing the knowledge
Good topic.. I think with grinders becoming so popular now" and making it easier for almost anyone even with lesser experience to throw bigger baits and making it much easier for getting much further distances casting braid without getting big "bajjias" (birds nest) with nilon like learning to fish multipliers.. alot of newer fishermen are going heavy wanting to only target big fish when its not always that simple" some of us grew up fishing KP's and multipliers so on different outings we had to fish different ways depending on where we fished and on the conditions also on what we were targeting" seeing other people catching big fish and then having the tackle to catch big fish doesn't mean you are going to.. its getting the experience and knowing when and how you use different tackle and baits to catch what you targeting and also knowing how to land it" thats why I think this was a good topic👍
I've experienced exactly that here in the cape and I was dumb struck. I fished for a while with big bait got nothing the moment I baited up a smaller piece of chokka I was on with a decent size kob first cast
Great advise applicable to all forms of fishing.
My grandfather always told me " a big fish will also take a smaller bait"
Thanks Rudolph, as always your advice is on point
