May the ticks remain outside and not crawling through your front door! I moved to Maine from the west coast (but grew up on the east coast both north & south). When the ticks started crawling in through the front door, that was a dealbreaker and I left. I hope you are able to enjoy Maine for all of the wonderful things it has, which unfortunately my anxiety wouldn't allow me to do!
