Elyas Reedgrove, a Halfling Rogue, arrived home after spending the night drinking and gambling at the local tavern to find his house in shambles and his wife, Sylvyre distraught. Their (virgin) daughter, Orani, had been kidnapped by a dragon and taken into the Forbidden Forest as tribute for Tiamat, the queen and mother of evil dragons. Elyas set out into the Forbidden Forest and found Tiamat. He must use his skills as a rogue to sneak past her and reach her hoard where Orani is trapped. He brought the Deck of Illusions to provide a distraction.
Elyas managed to successfully distract Tiamat with a puppy illusion and snuck past her to where Orani was being held prisoner in the hoard. Orani was not alone, however. Loraphine Nightflower, an Elven Bard, was also being held captive as an entertainment gift. As she escaped, Loraphine took the Bloodwell Vial from the hoard, sensing the wrongness of it and not wishing to allow Tiamat to have it. Elyas, Orani, and Loraphine were fleeing through the forest when one of Tiamat’s Dragons spotted them and began pursuit.
While Elyas and Loraphine battled the Dragon, Orani was able to find an escape route. She guided them into the Abandoned Mine, but the Dragon was still attacking through the entrance.
Elyas and Loraphine managed to defeat the Dragon with the advantage of the Abandoned Mine’s shelter. The battle weakened the Mine’s floor and Loraphine fell into the Tomb of the Lost. There, a Beholder attacked her from behind with its paralyzing Eye Ray.
When Loraphine failed to appear for her scheduled flute performance, her cousin went searching for her. Zelkilia “Kill” Nightflower, the Half-Elf Barbarian, made her dramatic entrance by causing a landslide, killing the Beholder. Kill looted the dungeon, taking a snazzy new sword, not realizing it was a Mimic in disguise. She also disguised herself with the Hat of Disguise, as a defense against her fawning admirers before heading to civilization. Loraphine choose to hide the Bloodwell Vial in the Tomb, so evildoers would not be able to access it. Elyas and Orani found a safer route to rejoin Loraphine and Kill.
The party managed to make it into daylight and Kill figured out where they were and led them back to town. Orani was taken home and Elyas was given permission to take his new friends to the Hometown Tavern to thank them and celebrate a successful rescue. There was no rest for the weary. The Tavern was in chaos, as a pair of Owlbears were rummaging through the trash for a meal. Kill attempted to drive them off with her new sword, but the Mimic revealed itself and stole the Hat of Disguise, before fleeing. She has her sights set on something else though; a pair of gently used Boots of Speed are in the trash pile, if she can get to them. She didn’t pay much attention to the stranger who ran after the Mimic. While Kill, Loraphine, and Elyas were facing the Owlbears, the stranger returned, seeking their attention. He is a Human Warlock named Werner.
The Owlbears were slain and Kill got her Boots of Speed. Werner demanded to know the whereabouts of the Bloodwell Vial, refusing to return the Hat of Disguise until the heroes cooperated. He was interrupted when a Gelatinous Cube emerged from the trash pile, engulfing Loraphine. Kill attempted to assist Loraphine’s escape, but learned the hard way that the Boots of Speed had been discarded because they were coated with Sovereign Glue and were now stuck to her hands. Werner refused to assist until Elyas informed him that the only person who knew where the Bloodwell Vial was hidden, was the person in the Gelatinous Cube. Will Warner be able to free Loraphine? Will Kill free her hands from the Sovereign Glue?
