No not all bmx bikes have free coasters, a free coaster is a specific type of hub that allows you to go backwards without pedaling backwards(as you can see), but most complete bmx bikes that you can buy come with cassette hubs they always engage istantly and have a clicking sound and you have to pedal backwards when you go backwards for it not to engage, its all in the preference of how the rider likes his bike to be set up.
I still can't figure out if I like Cassette or free coaster....even with a free coaster as I have learned the hard way...if you go to fakie and your crank is not a certain way your coaster will lock and you will land on your back.

@@Eric-Robson- take it apart and grease it once in a while. Change damaged or worn out parts. The washers inside get all squeezed and bent.
