Just wanted to say that this video is extremely underrated. Came here for a story recap before the sequel launches and got so much more out of it.

I need to add something you didn't include in the vid.
Knowing the true ending makes mizuki and Ota ending much much worse
In Mizuki ending, everything is fine as the true culprit actually died but... Don't forget that in every timeline renju dies, it is actually Iris that died which means the Iris in the Mizuki ending is actually So Sejima inside.
Ota ending is much worse, worse than annihilation ending. In annihilation ending, it at least ends with us knowing who the true culprit is AND apprehending him... But in the Ota End, true culprit is still alive AND inside boss' body(proven by the fact that we see So inside the vase who is actually Boss), free to do whatever he wants. And also Ota calls Iris his girlfriend who is actually So Sejima which is just disturbing.

Came only for the recap but stayed until the end. Thanks, it's really a good video. It's been 4 years since release and I forgot absolutely everything. Was my first time hearing about Hemispatial Neglict , it's an interesting subject.

I love the discussion on the science in this game. Interesting the Psync machine fixed Saito's body (oxytocin deficit) when he mind swapped with (Falco) Rohan. This story being "science-fiction", anything goes in fiction.

True that. Looking forward to seeing how the sequel runs with this!

You really need to have "recap" or "summary" in the title. i have been searching for a story recap for a bit and this is perfect but difficult to find!

Thanks for a succinct summary. Maybe next time use a table or diagram to show the mind swaps because the names can blend together.
My favourite visual novels are VLR (the second 999 game) and raging loop.
    Keep it up :D

The biggest question I had after this game was: Since Date has Saito's brain abnormality once he switches bodies, why doesn't Saito get "cured" when he switches bodies? Once he's in Rohan's body, he should have no longer had the oxytocin deficiency and based on their explanation, shouldn't be homicidal anymore. I feel like this was a big oversight since they did mention the medication that Date was taking for the deficiency.
Another question I had was plot related: Date was stated to be old friends of Renju, but wouldn't that mean Renju knew Date when he was still Hagyu? Why didn't Renju get confused or curious why his friend suddenly looked completely different? Did I miss something, because I was confused after the reveal of face changes was revealed.

Yeah... These are excellent points. Which is why I think they chilled out with neuroscience with the second game.

Due to Saito developing a strong desire for killing because of his oxytocin deficiency, entering a new body wouldn't get rid of it since his condition essentially shaped his personality to enjoy killing. When Saito is in Boss' body in Annihilation Route, he tells Date: "No matter how many people I killed, it never worked. I never felt happy. I feel miserable." This shows that due to Saito switching to bodies that don't have the deficiency, the brain in those bodies can't feel pleasure from killing as a result, but because enjoying killing is so ingrained in Saito's personality, being in a body that can produce oxytocin won't miraculously make him not want to kill. He wants to return to his original body in order to feel good about killing again since any other body he switches into feels bad about it instead of happy, and he does this because he cannot simply forget this core part of his personality just like that. Regarding the medication, it was never said that Saito was taking it back when he was in his original body, as just because Date has access to medication doesn't mean Saito did too.
I believe Date said that in the present, meaning he would've known Renju for about 5 years at that point, thus making Renju an "old friend" of his

A comment pointed out the third game should be about the soul of a person. Based on this, I think it should be the new story.
The new serial Killers's victims should appear with holes spread all across the body, with whatever is left of it being completely rotten. The method ? Somehow the killer absorbed the majority of the victims'mitochondria from the cells of the bodies. The people on the case are Bibi, Mizuki and Ryuki with their respective partners. But here's yet another strange detail. While a strange woman (Tokito) appears out of nowhere, causing strange phenomenons to happen in order to keep Bibi and Mizuki from getting to the truth (this is a test), Tokito pretty much gives the answers, even if in a cryptic way, to Ryiuki, as he's ready to reach Moksha.
By the way, I think Shoma should return as an assistant to Pewter, having joined ABIS because just like the detectives, he feels something is wrong, because of all the nightmares he's been having. And I think Date's case should be trying to find out if this mysterious woman truly is the missing Tokito.

Watched this as a recap before playing AINI (the science on top is nice too, I actually watched all the way to the end)... but man. I didn't expect to start crying (again) when you went over how dimentia was depicted. 🥲
