@Bearded Thrift Machine. What does comp mean?
I think the green sunbeam item was a hair dryer
Forgot.. peanut butter or mayo can remove the tape residue if no goo gone. A little time consuming but usually no damage
Try using furniture polish on the lid of that turntable to help fill in the scratches I use it on my motorcycle windshield all the time
When it comes to getting tape residue off of things, I find mineral spirits is really good and in 40 years of using it I've never had it damage an item, just put it on a soft cloth and work it into the residue until it becomes soft and can then be wiped off.
The green Sunbeam item is the main unit of a hair dryer. The hose pulled out, and attached to a cap to dry hair with rollers in. The cap was like a very large shower cap.
Thank you so much for that info =)
thank so much for watching!
How many other little girls had to have their hair put up in rollers & set with the dryer on Saturday night to be ready for church on Sunday?! My sister and I put up a fuss but then figured out we could talk mother into letting us watch “The Love Boat” and “Fantasy Island”, so it wasn’t so bad! Lol…crazy how silly things bring back memories!
This was the first time I saw your channel and really enjoyed watching how engaged and detailed you are! Many blessings!
@@shannonnichols3415 thank you so much for watching!!!! 😀
@@shannonnichols3415 I had this torture every weekend of my young life. It got much better when it went from pin curls to soft sponge rollers, though.
My mother had one of these about 50 years ago. And, it was not just girls that used them. As a boy I could comb my wet hair and then dry it in a few minutes with that hair dryer. That was handy for going out in the winter. And, the warm air was pleasant.
Goo Gone will work on that tape. I use it for removing stickers off funko pop fronts and action figure plastics. Works great without haze. You can usually get it at Lowe's. Blessings!
Great tip! Haze LOL Thats the word I couldnt think of! when i said cloudy LOL
thanks so much for watching!
I was going to say the same thing .goo gone
Goo gone is magic, it gets the permanent ink marks off the soles of shoes too.
Yep, Goo Gone!!
Pure lemon extract oil is my go to!!
Nice pickup Julian! I liked the vintage clamps and the hatchet. I like looking at old tools.
Me too! esp old hatchets or axes are awesome to find
thanks so much for watching!
Green thing is a bonnet hair dryer. The hose is the round side it unscrews and the hose comes out. The bonnet is folded and put by the wire to plug in. It can also be tied around your waist so you can do things while drying your hair. Big in the 70-80’s.
thank is awesome info!! thank you so much =)
thanks so much for watching!
At our local thrift stores, they add a protective wrap to any sharp blades with cardboard and they are behind glass...that is crazy to see this!
Yea the Goodwill usually does that too - usually never see a good looking hatchet in the shelf.
Thanks so much for watching!! :)
@@beardedthriftmachine Yes I love old tools too! Hubby thinks that is funny but I nab them every time if I see something cool. I picked up huge pipe wrenches...very old for $5 each here on the island...a turn of the century old phone for $25 and a 1919 brass beautiful condition fire extinguisher for $5 including the original metal mounting bracket.
When ever taking off tape and you do not want to damage anything. Bring out the blow dryer. And heat up the tape then peal off.
Great tip! Ill give it a try =)
You’ll have to show us what the hatchet looks like after your dad gets it! Fun finds. Coffee is life! 😂
Will do!! Youre so true coffee is life im drinking some right now LOL
thanks so much for watching!
Hi! Now that I have recovered from the ax… I vote for ‘goop’, the hand cleaner for removing everything from stickers to old suitcases. Thanks for the great videos!
Looks like the old fashioned Sunbeam hair dryer. Did it have a plastic hose and a cap (looks like a big shower cap)?
Sans hose and hood
yea it looked like a big shower cap LOL and i was like i have no idea (i was in a slight hurry and comped it while editing LOL )
That sounds like a cool thing to have, it’d be great for deep conditioning and hair masks! Love the color too
Totally agree with everyone that it's a sunbeam vintage soft hooded dryer for wet sets women used to do at home. Too bad you didn't get it. I think it's getting a resurgence of popularity.
@@juanitaservin6246 I went back the next day and it was gone - you're right should have picked it up

Awesome finds today. Love your positive attitude!! I also like how you share the breakdowns.
Thanks so much! =) and thank so much for watching. =)
Julian, pick up a product called "UnDu" and try it on your plastic/acrylic. It was made to remove residue left from tape and stickers. I have used it to remove old tape from pictures. Of course test an area on the plastic first. Nice thing is that it dries quickly and leaves no greasy or oily residue. Love your videos. I am learning so much.
Thanks for the tip! ill have to look it up and get some
thanks you so much and thanks for watching!
Hey Julian, great video! Funny about the hatchet on a shelf and clamps in the case 😂
By the way, sometimes when I have tough take residue on something, I use packing tape and put it on the spot and rip away and repeat. It works most of the time
Great tip! Ill actually have to try that. I dont know what tape they use but that sticky residue in great hard to get off. Thanks for the tip =) ill def give it a try

To get the sticky off with out damage. Use W-D40.Spray it on and let it sit awhile. It will not cloud plastic. It's a fish oil based product.

I’ve had good luck with coconut oil removing sticky stuff. Smear it on and let it sit. It may take a few applications.

Green Machine is part of a Hair Dryer. You need one hose to attach to the Hair Cover and just guessing another hose for intake or outflow 🙂
Thanks for Sharing your Treasure Hunts👍

Denatured alcohol from home Depot shouldn't hurt any plastic or metal. We used it in construction alot. Doesn't smell like goo gone
Awesome!!! Thank you so much for that tip Ill def give that a try
thanks so much for watching and for that info =)
Sadly our goodwill stores in our area look everything up on eBay and then price it about $10 less than the listing prices. It’s been 5 years since we’ve been able to find deals like this on the regular, now it’s only by accident. Our goodwill stores would have priced those clamps for at least $7.49 each at the minimum.
Yea thats hard to make a profit in places like that. In my still pretty good with the prices luckily
Thanks so much for watching
Bummer. Still no golf clubs! ) : The green box item looked like an old fashioned bonnet hair dryer case? Possibly?
Great finds today! Back in the day, Yamaha receivers and anything stereo were highly rated and in demand, so I wasn't surprised they still hold their value! Hoping the stereo words well too. The piece itself looks amazing! What a return on your money too! Man, I have soooo many nice point and shoot cameras around here! I best start thinking about selling too! ( : Love your show!
Too funny about the ax not in the case, but the clamps were! Someone at GW dropped the ball on that one! Geesh! ) : Unbelievable! ) :
Thanks again for the great tips, and sharing of your finds! ( :
I think so far that's what everyone is saying for the hair dryer :) those good gold clubs are hard to find lol 😆 hoping people will donate some when the weather gets warmer :)

Great finds, love the record player and the hatchet!! Thanks!!
Those were my 2 favorite also followed close by the clamps LOL

Man, I have that same tape problem with my Goodwill. They also write prices on tags of higher end clothing with a washable marker. That marker doesn't just wipe off with water on a rag. It will come off. They are so afraid of people stealing from them. When I first started reselling they thought I was a shoplifter, because I kept putting my phone in my pocket. They even called the cops on me. Wow.
Geeez! Yea I was in NC and they wrote the prices in permanent marker on golf bags.... i was like killing the value and if i wanted to just use it - who wants to play golf with that bag

Magic erasers work well with getting the tape residue off of the stereo too. Just be sure to wet it first.
Thank you for the info and the tip! =)

I wouldn't press too hard w a magic wraser on plastic like the turntable top til u test it in an inconspicuous spot! It may permanently etch it, make it cloudy.
Goo Gone is the BEST. I’ve even used it to get sticker residue off of book covers- including paper backs! As long as the paper has a slight sheen or slicker feel to it, it’ll handle being treated with Goo Gone. You can just put a dab of it on a paper towel, rub it in with a circular motion, LET IT SIT for a few minutes, and then come back and wipe it off with a dry paper towel. If there’s any residue left, you can take a damp paper towel and go over it and then dry it again and BA-BAM! That mess is gone!
Love your content, Julian! Thank you for making these videos in such a direct and concise manner. I always pick up new and usable information from you. Keep up the great work!👍🏻
Thank you so much for the info ! =) and thanks so much for watching and the nice comment =)
For tape residue, first try some cooking oil on a paper towel. After you get the sticky off you may need to follow up with some dish soap to remove the oil.
Great tip!
thanks so much for watching!
Use tape (like Duck) on the Dual receiver dust cover. Place tape over residue, press and lift off. It will pull off the residue. Repeat as needed. Kind of like waxing your legs.
thank you!
just an idea on clean up of plastic. i use on headlights all the time. if you get to your local parts store, they have a white scotch bright scratch pad pretty cheap. you can buy them by the box. i use water and a buffer. takes minor scratches and paint and tape residue off. hope this helps on that turn table or future buys. awesome find.
Excellent idea! Ill definitely give that a try
USD Lemon Essential Oil to take off the goo! NOW has some good stuff. It works. This is from Home Schooling Picker Kayla... She rocks!

The handle of the hatchet is a golf grip. Easy to replace

Use coconut oil to get residue from stickers off. Smear some on, leave over night and usually it will come off with s paper towel or napkin. If needed reapply and wait a couple hours. This is rare for me but I had one sticker that just didn't want to cooperate. Afterward apply dish soap and rub off oil and wipe clean. So far it has worked on everything. Nontoxic and great for your skin.
Thanks for the info!
Hatchets and plush. Now that’s some Goodwill!

@@beardedthriftmachine I once found several phone cases with bulit in electronic lighters just sitting open on a shelf in good will. No flame, but they got red hot when I pushed the button. The yamaha tuner was a rare find. Todays tuners are digital and don't have a ground for the turntable. Also the tape2 is rare and used for equalizers and was stopped being used when everything went digital.. Also a rare find. With people wanted to go back to turntables the tuner would fetch more than you think.
thank you =) excellent info
I would love to do this but minimal space for inventory.
you could do jewelry or something very small.

I'm not sure about the sticky tape but I always use coconut oil to get those sticky tags off with no problems. Just rub it into the tag and let it sit for a few and it comes right off. It might work on that turntable lid but it shouldn't hurt it to try.
awesome info - ill give it a shot

To get sticky off mix vegetable oil and baking soda together and then put on sticky residue and leave for a little bit and then wash off it should come off easily.

One of my favorite cleaners for removing price tags adhesives and stuck on tape is called Goo Gone. Goo Gone is actually a citrus based liquid cleaner you can find it in both the regular liquid or it can be found in a slightly thicker consistency called Goo Gone Gel. I've heard you mention on another video that you use evaporust too clean rusty tools or golf clubs. I use Evaporust to clean off rust from vintage/antique tools like my great grandfather hand plane or similarly aged hand tools and the Goo Gone gel is extremely similar to the Evaporust cleaner. Plus Goo Gone is a chemical free citrus based cleaner that is safe to use on any surface even ones that are vintage or antique just like the Evaporust is. So if you like using Evaporust from cleaning rust off then I think that you would enjoy using Goo Gone for cleaning of any type of adhesives from glass and plastic. You can find the Goo Gone Gel for fairly cheap at your local Harbor freight if you have a good ol'Freight near you. If you decide to try out some Goo Gone Gel and the adhesive that you are trying to remove is being a real sticky jerk then you can put some of the Goo Gone on a rag or paper towel then place the towel over the sticky adhesive and let it sit for around 5 minutes. But make sure that you don't leave the towel over the item your trying to clean for too long cause if you forget about it the Goo Gone can do a little bit of damage. So if you left the Goo Gone towel on the item for about 5 minutes then check on the item finding that the Goo Gone is starting to work then just put your timer on for another 5 minutes and you should be all set for getting rid of the left over adhesive.
Congrats on 20,000 subs!!
Thank you!!

Try baby wipes to try to clean up with. I use them to help clean up stickey resin
Thanks for the tip! Ill def get it a try!

New to your channel and flipping for a profit at thrift stores but I have been on eBay selling for about 15 yrs. I have over 3500 sales and 100% feedback on Ebay. In the past, I have only sold crafting supplies, now I looking to broadening my horizons. I stumbled upon your channel and I am hooked.****I have a question. Looks like eBay has started collecting states sales taxes. When I collect the taxes how do you keep track on selling in each state and how should we as sellers forward the money to the appropriate state?****thank you so very much.
I live in SC ebay has always collected the sales tax - i think there is 3 states or so that they still dont - i would get an account if I had to collect them. So i would forward all my sales to a bookkeeper or account if i lived in one of those states and have them make sure the correct amount went to the correct places.
what state do you live in?
