- Veteran Nollywood actor, Ibrahim Chattah, has stirred mixed reactions over the reason he gave for men to have more than one wife.
It all started when fellow actor, Femi Adebayo, shared a video online where he wondered about how men are neglected in their homes by their wives once they start having kids because the attention shifts to them.
Chattah then went ahead to speak on Islam and the idea of polygamy that allows a man to marry up to four wives if he can care for them equally.

Thank you my sister. Everything is about who takes care of the man as if he's planning to end up handicap! Who takes care of the woman? I'm a few months older that the husband and my body has gone through birthing children. We're both supporting our children financially and many times I carry more than I can bear. Women should also start thinking of their old age as well. Let him marry 100 wives if he so wishes. It's good riddance to bad rubbish!
The 3rd speaker rightly said Abraham remarried when Sarah died and not when she was alive and for David remember women became the origin of the woes of his own household, generations and his own life; Solomon the wisest man on earth was taken away from God’s presence because of women and he ended miserably, so whatever references anyone is making also remember how these characters that are involved ended. What is the means of happiness for the woman in marriage if marrying multiple wife’s makes the man happy?
At every opportunity i always advice men to be careful how they treat their wives because the children are growing and watching. Even if the woman forgives him,the children might not.
What about any woman that wants to enjoy her life?
Everyone is about me myself and I. Sacrificial love is the answer not selfishness!
I live in the USA. I have witnessed two Nigerian families who live here in the USA that the children did not(their dad died) care about their father and another whose children don’t care( he is still alive) because both fathers were emotionally absent from these kids’ lives. The former died without his children around him / kids are educated- daughter is a medical doctor and son is an engineer. In fact his son put up the house for sale the next day after his death. Intention was not to make money but because he did not want to relive the emotional abuse but they were constantly visiting mum who was moved to an assisted living home. The later has a son who is a big time music superstar in the West but they will fly their 72 year old mom at the whim to international fashion shows like fashion week in Paris on a private jet with front row seat at the show. Dad has a debilitating condition but these kids said he was emotionally absent and abusive and really don’t want anything to go with him.
Like someone said, men need to watch themselves. It’s good to be a strong father but emotional presence and lack of its abuse must be included in this provision.
Man please save for your own future, you are the most important person in that family

As for as I'm concern, polygamy is the most let down thing to the women folks. The man has women to fall back on at anytime, but reverse in the woman's case. The world is not fair to women from day 1 that " God created the world and made the man the head over her". If my husband marry a second wife, i will end tje marriage, i despise polygamy.
Fathers, needs to engage with their children more. However, husband and wife needs to work in synergy in raising their children.

You guys are missing the point here, sometimes it has nothing to do with kindness to your wife or not conditions might occur that the mother to travel out of town or country visit and never come back home for 3 years and ready to leave again in another 24 months. This happens in many families without trouble before the situation occurs and the wife must travel.
I alway ear children see what their fathers are doings that is senseless children see their fathers through their mother. No matters how good a man is if the wife is bad is 90% the children will hate him no matter how good the man is.

Companionship is not about all about sex cos having someone to talk to is a whole lot. What's the meaning getting him a care giver. If the woman feels her need is to have another man when she is old based on companionship role let her get her self a a companion only if the husband cannot fill that role. But without greed and sentiments we all have a needs, don't add jealousy and selfishness bcos you can't meet that need and you won't allow another person to help out. If a woman is rich and the man cannot meet that companionship need , let her get herself another person without any selfish reason

I kinda agree with him without even watching this clip. Marrying one woman is a whole lot of headache and gives so much sadness. Getting another wife could be a way to happiness, especially for men with means.

I know sometimes based on our gender we can be bias but the reason most times they say who will take care of the man is because a lot of times the kids take care of their mom, for various reasons, sometimes to send money to man sef can be hard, so you send to the woman with the hope that she uses it for the house. Another reason they say so is most times the man is older than the woman and in old age she usually is stronger than him, in some cases the man has worked his whole life for the family, now that he is old, is it too much to ask to be taken care of. YourView is a nice show to pass time but some views these ladies hold is worrisome, and they are not young like the SaidaBoj that we will say it is young age that is doing that one
Don't women work hard to provide for their families too? The difference is that some fathers think money is everything. They don't take time to bond with their kids.
Some men while they are young might be physically present in the home but do not talk to their children. They are always in their rooms or study even when they are not doing anything. They have never advised their children on any matter (i am talking from experience) how do you start talking to them in their old age. My mom still calls me every week. But my dad could go a year without calling. The emotional attachment will certainly be different.
Even though I don't support polygamy. But let not deceived ourselves. He has a point, my dad 100yrs old and still counting. The first wife can't even take care of herself talkless of my dad. My mom is second and still very young to give all pepprozy that women give husband. And this has kept my dad healthy. @Tope, my dad has personal Doctor, therapist, nurse, and maid. But the jaara that my mom is putting that giving papa life.

You guys need to stop using yourself as example,its not about you,we talking about the vast majority of women,Ibrahim Chatta is right,Polygamy is the best option,most people don't know this,but the prime reason of Marriage or Polygamous Marriage is for wealth extension,the Hausa people understand this and works for the most part.Also what i have notice with women is that, what they say and want are two different things,you women say men should be vulnerable and speak up,guess what,majority of women don't want those kind of men,you guys call them weak and sassy.
