@@Frankgonzalez-hj7bm A lifetime warranty is pointless if it breaks in the woods, camping, or in a survival scenario. I can buy at least 5 cold steel machetes for the price of this one and they all clearly outperform this every single time.

I just picked one of these up a few weeks ago. Seeing it was outside their typical US made Esee line, and wasn’t super expensive, I questioned if it would be up to par with their main lines. I worried for nothing. Way nicer than I expected. Fit and finish are awesome Esee quality all the way. If I broke mine, I’d buy a new one immediately. But I wouldn’t have to…because Esee would replace it. Hell, they probably replaced this guy’s😂
This is a solid performer. I would rather have a bit more edge retention that this machete has than the cold steel machetes but to each his own. I don't plan on breaking my expat. The only cold steel I really like is the Spetnaz Shovel.
Great review JoeX! I would consider this machete for camping for sure. It did well in the basic camping tests for batoning, chopping and edge retention. Anything after that and when the machete broke is way past what I’d use it for. However THANKS SO MUCH for letting me see and understand its limitations! GETTT TO DA CHOPPPAAAAAA!

Big compromise to heat treat it that hard. Held up good on the car but snapped instead of bending. I thought it sounded too hard the was it was singing. What was the Rockwell hardness?
So first broke in half while doing extreme flex tests, there I thought it was too thin, but then it broke at the tang again after hitting rocks a few times, so clearly their 1075 was overly hardened during heat treatment, or did not tempered to be soft enough. Seems that RHC 50-52 makes the most durable blade for extreme destructive tests. Clearly Esee's 1075 blades are not as durable as Condor's, but for ordinary camping jobs, it's probably durable enough.
I would like to see the JoeX logo on a knife line he designed and approved including a machete. I'd buy that. Another good video. As for the ESEE Darian, not bad for 80 bucks on Knifeworks.
