Footage is from a trail camera located in Fakahatchee Strand Preserve State Park; the "Amazon of North America". It is the largest state park in Florida, half way between Naples and Miami.
It's been proven that squirrels have distinct warning calls to alert each other to the presence of different threats. For example, they have a specific call for birds of prey, which is different from their call for humans, which is different for their call for snakes, etc. This is so that they can take the correct action needed to avoid that predator. What you hear in this video is the warning call specifically for panthers. So if you are ever out hiking and hear that specific call, keep your eyes peeled for a pantherm
Very interesting I hunt in the Central Florida south Florida region. Places like Kissimmee river three Lakes and Corbett I have heard squirrels making signs like that a lot. I would be surprised if they were all panthers but maybe they have slight deviations between dangerous human and dangerous cat. Definitely worth the research and I appreciate your knowledge.
New channel Much more panthers get killed by humans than panthers killing humans, and even then they are often provoked by humans attacking beforehand or similar. If you’re so concerned over livestock I suggest not leaving livestock to fend for themselves in the wild and maybe you should actually fence them in and look after them. The true danger is what will happen to the ecosystem when panthers are gone. The Florida panther is an apex predator, essential for keeping other species in check. Once they are no longer existing these previously balanced species will rapidly reproduce and feast unabated by the fallen apex predator. This will have massive ramifications for everything from agriculture to industry and far more. TL;DR Florida panthers cause very little harm, but removing them will set off a very bad chain reaction. Edit: Slightly changed wording to better convey that livestock (not panthers) should be fenced in and that a lack of panthers (not livestock) is dangerous.
@@AliKhan12345 yup sorry I was wrong I thought it was. And I realized last year the largest cougar subspecies is Nevada cougar which is similar to Canadian cougars.
There are numerous names for this cat. Mountain lion, cougar , puma, panthers are some of the names. Florida does have a panther that is different. They don’t have the black face markings, their tail is shorter, and the are stockier and sometimes are black but usually they are tan like the mountain lion. Also now re-emerging in the US is the jaguar from central and South America. .
Nice

Black Jaguar largest? They numbers aren’t there, and technically they’re The Florida-Texas mountain panther.
@@henryjw15 All north American panthers are the same species, whether in Texas, or Florida. They used to be all over the US, same with wolves, and elk
Thanks for posting
Awesome video
Looks exactly like Jumper Creek WMA, except I know there are not that many deer there.
Thanks
Why would anybody down-vote a spotted fawn frolicking in the forest?
I was waiting for some action like cougar taking down deer never happen

Cougar not panther
Panthers are mythological creatures and do not exist... this was a puma or mountain lion lol
BS. COME TO THE WOODS OF LOUISIANA, TEXAS, or ARKANSAS. SEE IF YOU STILL THINK THEY DON'T EXIST.
Its a COUGAR.
Panther, Puma, Cougar, Mountain Lion and Catamount are all the same animal.
Agreed....and if you want to go a step further its a Puma Concolor. Cougar, Panther, Mountain Lion are the regional “common name”.
How the hell was this recorded ?
Cool video but those are mountain lions AKA Cougars
Quick question then... if they r a subspecies of cougar how come in ms the panthers are black

Why so "digitized"?
The video is extremely clear for a video camera set up in a swamp lol.
I want to kill all the remaining panthers in Florida
