Thank you for this video! Super helpful….especially because paint and I aren’t friends! I’m going to try this painting method. My biggest problem though is gluing the backing onto the front piece. I wanted it a little thicker so I cut 2 pieces for backing then added the top piece. No matter how hard I try I can t get them to line up perfectly.
I know this video is older - but I found it today and was a great help for one puzzle. I am now trying to do another puzzle and when I get to the merge part, it will not merge. Any help? Have you encountered this before? The circles and letters are on different layers, I have grouped and ungrouped. I have tried it with them all on one layer. But no avail. The circle part is still a separate field and not merging with the letter like it did before.
@@CraftyMedic Thank you for responding! I am using illustrator and I got it finally and not sure what I did differently besides using pop out pathfinder window and not the drop down from command bar.
I usually just rub a microfibre cloth along them to take the soot off. They will always be a bit darker, it with proper settings and finishing they don’t have much to transfer.
@@CraftyMedic i have a laser which if i don’t cut slow it won’t cut throughout 3 mm plywood. But cutting slow builds up burnt marks and i get all dirty on my hands trying to assemble parts. Thank you. Any more advises are most welcomed :)

@@MaryMartin-j5i Very strange. I do believe they have to be on one layer. Have you tried searching for instructions for the program you’re using?

@@MaryMartin-j5i strange! Glad you sorted it out though!
How do you clean the burning marks on the edges of the letters? so that kids are not getting those blank marks on hands or mouth?

What kind of wood do you use ?
I use maple and oak plywood from Columbia Forest Products (also known as Purebond plywood)
Can you show cutting on the glow forge?
I didn’t show it on this one but I think I showed some on my other video.
Do you have to clean the wood after cutting on a Glowforge or can you seal it directly?
I mask it so that I don’t have to clean it. I just remove the masking, sand, and seal.
What is the masking called?
I usually order Vinyl Ease paper transfer tape but any paper tape will work, I’ve gotten several brands of it in the past.
@@CraftyMedic Thank you
What settings did you use to cut the wood?
I just use the Proofgrade settings for the type of wood I’m using (oak or maple usually) even though I’m using Purebond not Proofgrade.
