Great vid! I just treated myself to the Almar SKRS Scania shifter to use with my Logitech shifter and it works like a dream. Even in the era of auto boxes, i think playing with manual transmission adds a lot to a game like ETS. As someone who has actually driven manual Scanias in real life, I'd say that hill starts are definitely harder in the game as you can't "feel" the clutch biting. I've had a queue of angry drivers honking their horns on an on ramp because I kept stalling!

literally im using a shifter with normal settings just like a car and ngl its much easier i think but still tho i have to go from 1 to 6 in not even 2 seconds and i go trough all the gears so that means that i dont skip any gears... if you know how to shift a truck with manual transmission your are a legend dude :D
Trust me, its not that hard. In the beginning maybe its kinda confusing but when you done this for 3-4 times, you'll get it and than its make fun! For me the easiest way is this: 1H - 3H - (switch to high-range) 4H - 5L - 5H - 6L - 6H. When i'm heavily loaded, i shift into 2H in the low - range but i don't do that a lot. A lot of drivers even start in 2H. After some times you'll don't even really think about in which gear you have to shift. ;)
I'm waiting for my G29 and I will try it out. I drove with steering wheel all the time, since the game is out but never played it with H shifter. The upshift with skipping gears do not appear too complicated but the downshift is what really bothers me. Thanks for the detailed explanation :)
Bass Trammel I played on old cheap Logitech Momo and it gave me a lot of pleasure but g25 is the best way to feel urself in full simulation - i bought it used for 60 bucks, but it is easy to get it for about 80-100 and it almost the same as g29 + has better pedals (really, there is no piece of rubber under each one which was put there to save money on spring) and has sequential mode (+- gear). Take it, if you are not simracer, it would be ok for you for a long time. I put on it real car’s wheel (Honda civic eg 92) -2.8 kg and it works great!

Somehow I can't manage to get the same setup of the transmission. I only have 1-12, first 6 on low, last 6 on high. In ATS I setup everything for the 13 speed and it just works... somehow the setup confuses me a bit...oO
Wow great tutorial!!!! Can you explain the volvo 12 gear in the settings ? Also when you use pedals what braking intensity you set in the game to get the most realistic feel for power to pedal ratio ? I use dualshock4 (yes my ps4 controller) for steering and clutch and the joystick of my X55 set as the 6 gear h-shifter (using external programs) and I never found the best settings for braking intensity, sometimes it either not enough even under full braking and sometimes it just feels arcady as in 'press W to drive, press S to come from 170 km/h to a stop within 10m'
Heya Juppie902, glad you liked my tutorial. For the Volvo 12 gear setting I have a tutorial for the Volvo 12+2 posted on this channel. The only difference between the 12+2 and the 12 speed Volvo is that the the +2 (crawler gears) aren't there any more, they just become another neutral slot. As for braking intensity I keep mine at about 25%. The G920 brake pedal gives a good bit of resistance by itself and with the lower braking intensity it increases how much pressure I have to apply as well. It's still nowhere near realistic braking pressure but I find it adequate. Hope this helps.
Where did you buy yohr shifter mod? I cant find anything cheaprr then 120 euros and that's totaly not worth it. Especially since real shifter knobs cost 50

@@Will-om1mr In your control settings right below the shifter positions you will see "shifter toggle 1" and "shifter toggle 2". Shifter toggle 1 will be what is refered to as your splitter and shifter toggle 2 will be the range. You would program those to any key you find convenient to reach. Make sure the "shifter toggles use switch mode" box is not checked. You would then use the keys you mapped in place of the skrs shifter switches.
Yes, you can still use the stock shifter for any of the transmissions including the 18 speed. Instead of mapping the 2 switches on the shifter knob you would have to map them to either your keyboard or a button on your wheel. Make sure "Shifter Toggles Use Switch Mode" box is not checked as well.
@@humaismuhammad55 You would set it to "Clutch or Throttle" if you want to stay authentic to how American trucks do. Then you would use the clutch to shift from 1 - 2, 2 - 3 and so on. To split gears, 1L - 1H, etc. you just let up off the throttle a little after hitting your splitter button.
BeamZ if you mean the shifter knob then sure. That’s actually what it’s made for. AplusB have driving simulators used for teaching drivers that they use this in. If you mean the game itself then not so much. European trucks are generally automatics these days. American trucks do use manual and the shifter knob is good for getting hand rhythm in shifting, the game itself uses synchro transmissions. An actual US truck you have to match your gears with the truck speed and rpm. So even though it would be good for learning the shift pattern and using high/low range and high/low gears actual shifting in real life is much different.

BeamZ sorry it took a minute to get back with you. Yes, if you are looking for something to starting getting your hand movements and muscle memory down then this could be a decent option for you. It’s laid out just like your real manual shifter is.
For some stupid reason i cant get the 6th gear to work, im using a g27. No, the shifter is not broken. The game does detect the it and all their buttons/switches.
on mine i have 1st as C1 and C2. 2nd for 2nd, 3rd for 4th, 4th for 6th on low. then 1st for 8th, 2nd for 10th and 3rd for 12th on high. bottom switch switches between even and odd numbered gears, up for even, down for odd which r rarely needed then reverse is push down right and 6th. Even with a 60 ton load i pull away in 2nd then to 6th then to 10th then to 12th. only time i use C1 or C2 is if im on a steep hill and cant pull away in 2nd. Ive got the drive gear SKRS scania splitter. with the scania layout on top of the splitter but my gears dont correspond with whats on that. but it only uses 4 gear positions for all 14 forward gears. the rest r done via the 2 switches on the splitter.
You mean my shifter knob? The shifter kob I use is aplusbsoftware.com/software/simu-shift-knob-replacement/ from a place called AplusBSoftware. If you mean an in game mod I don't use mods, I just run the vanilla game.

You dont start driving in C gear, that is for heavy load startin up on hill, use 2H or 3L to start depense how heavy you are.

Oh, you need a wheel. Even the cheapest wheel will be a million times better then the keyboard, pick up a used one asap.

Can you use the splitter in a 12 plus two H shifter pattern to go from 4-5 and 10-11? Or do you have to use it in a way like this or an 18 speed?
I just use gears 1 through 6 since that's all the shifter will allow.

JAGFx on EBay there’s a better version called ALMAR SKRS They make shift knobs based on real trucks like scania and MAN
its called csio skrs,they dont make em anymore so you have to get the almar skrs instead

You will have to add a key press for your range and splitter. Either on your keyboard or somewhere on the steering wheel buttons.

Do you use any mods on your shifter besides the SKRS? yours seems a bit stiffer and more realistic.
There's a little mod wich makes it "harder" to shift, it's on ebay or aliexpress as "logitech shifter pad".

Do you have the right transmission? It needs to be a 12+2 or else you won't have a 6th gear.
get the best transmission,if you dont want the 12+2 then get a normal 12 gear and change it to scania 12 gears in the settings
