She's funny, assertive and surprisingly nerdy. I loved her description a few years ago of swabbing a bacterial culture from a date's water glass and peering at it through her home microscope to check what diseases he had. Brilliant!

I actually like these tone-deaf interviews, because they show the class barrier clearly. If Colbert has you as a guest, you made it, you're rich. But perhaps you're saying that this is more pronounced in America versus other countries?
