How I make comparisons: • HOW I MAKE COMPARISONS...
How the overlay works: red color channel is taken from unnerfed version, green and blue - from nerfed version. So, if the color of a pixel in both versions are same, then after overlaying its color is NOT distorted. If there is a difference, then the color is distorted depending on which color channels prevail.

Actually, I did a practice run on this level once to see how hard it is, and honestly, maybe I got really lucky, but I got through it really quickly. And it didn't feel THAT much harder than your typical extreme demon. So I'm still struggling to see what makes it so hard.

@@necreiP I mean, YES. It's significantly harder than most extremes, I just don't see what makes it top 10 in difficulty. I even got through a couple of parts in practice mode in just a few attempts (after figuring out what to do) The main thing that gets me is comparing it to Bloodlust. For me, both visually and in practice, it just doesn't seem any harder

You should experiment with comparing 3 or maybe even 4 versions of a level. For example, Sonic Wave Infinity. You could compare Mycrafted's version, Rori's version, Sunix's version, and Xanii's published version. The color scheme would be R,G,B,Y ig

Give it up for LeTim[GD], making us aware of levels that we didn't know were nerfed in the first place.
The reason unnerfed zodiac is much harder than nerfed is because a lot of these are transition fixes, which switch bad transitions to better ones, and bad transitions can make a level significantly harder, along with lots of luck factor, and along with the two chokepoints being removed(2:03, 2:47) it went from potentially top 1 to this day to #17

Unnerfed is close to AoD & silent clubstep difficulty
The official rated version falls just short of being tartarus difficulty and it seems like some people think it’s easier than Kenos and even cognition (Trick and Bgram)

Yes and no. It got nerfed, which fixed the level’s issues. According to speedymuffin, Zodiac was almost Abyss of Darkness/Silent Clubstep difficulty, and the whole level was way buggier and less optimised for framerates (other than 144 fps)
These are more of a "before and after" kinda things

i wouldnt call this "nerfed vs unnerfed" as barely anything changes to make it noticably easier,
a better title would be "Zodiac: Unbalanced vs Balanced"
Zodiac is implied to be a level that originally was impossible for players not using 144hz. You can’t neccessarily see it in this video (and I don’t even know if the uploader of this video is using EndLevel’s unnerfed Zodiac version as the “unnerfed” overlay) but according to speedymuffin some of the wave and spider transitions (like 22%) used to only be possible on 144hz.
Small changes like that actually add up to make EndLevel’s unnerfed Zodiac borderline silent clubstep/new aod difficulty

It's because these showcases don't literally show the nerfes of the level. Rather, they show the original version compared to the rebalanced one (that usually contains nerfs overall, but might have little buffs or fixes)

The transition is broken for framerates that are multiples of 60. On Endlevel’s Zodiac, you have to be on 144fps for 22% or else you automatically crash.

22% is one of those timings where you have to be really specific in previous inputs, or where you place your start pos. As said, it’s broken on framerates that are multiples of 60. And on 144 it’s buggy as well and a huge choke point as a result.

@@ZKTHE1STT the reason its harder isnt that the raw gameplay is harder. Its above kenos because it has more/worse chokepoints and most of said chokepoints are much further in the level than kenos, which is extremely carried by first and 2nd wave which are very early in the level.
