Had an O'Doul's at a class reunion party years ago, before I knew there were NA beers. I remarked to a classmate that though I was unfamiliar with the name, I thought it was pretty good beer. Then he told me that it was an NA beer. I was quite surprised!
A friend of mine's mom liked non alcoholic beer. She wanted me to get her a couple of O'Douls at the corner store. I thought she said "old dudes "...
It’s surprisingly good 😅
Stella Artois Liberte is the best NA beer I've had. It actually tastes like Stella... good video bro
Cheers man, I have never seen that one before. I really dig Athletic Brewing for all my NA needs
I had Asahi DRY ZERO beer at the Tokyo marathon. They were free so i had quite a lot and and they tasted like an ok lager.
Yea so far my experience is that they all taste like Okay Lagers. I can seem to find any asain na beers, that would be fun. I have a few craft na beers so hoping those taste better.
Almost any beverage can taste 'ok' at almost freezing - as soon as the drink warms up and the aromatics pop up then the taste experience can start to wane.
I wonder what beer tastes good from 'freezing cold' to 'room temperature'? They will definitely taste different, but that is one of those 'special beers' the ones that surprise you in a good way.
Well each beer (style) does have a serving temp. And just about all these domestics NAs are Lagers, so they want to be served colder than a Ale. But yes as I was doing this and they started to warm up, more flavors started to come out (not much though).
Former beer lover and recovering alcoholic here. I can't express how much I've enjoyed the 0.0% (0.03%) beers. It's been a total game-changer. Heineken's 0.0 is a damn good facsimile to the real thing, especially after not tasting beer for a few years. It's like soda... for grown ups. Budweiser Zero and Stella Artois' Liberté also have 0.0% products that are very tasty, but Heineken seems to be the most ubiquitous.
I know, intellectually, that .5% ABV is next to nothing and comparable to apple or orange juice but for one reason or another, I've decided to stay away from those -at least for drinking. I'm perfectly okay with cooking with them. That said, I never cared for O'Douls because it doesn't really pack a whole lot of flavor. Maybe that's changed in recent years.
i actually really thought Heineken 0.0 in a bottle tasted the best, but for some reason the can version tasted horrible. Have you tried Lagunitas HOPPY REFRESHER, Hop water. If you are looking for that beer or IPA experience but 0.0 and soda like. That thing is amazing!!
If you want to ever dip a toe back into the 0.5% range (cool if not) I would recommend Athletic Brewing. They are the best NA Craft beer on the market, and growing at a all time high bc they are truly THAT GOOD
@@HopsAndBrews Thanks dude! I'll definitely took into the Lagunitas. That sounds really good right now with the temperatures in the upper 80's (in NJ in April??) Also I hear really good things about Athletic Brewing. Maybe one day I'll give it a shot.
Guinness 0.0 is also a remarkably flavourful NA 😊
I’m trying to slow down on heavily drinking beer, so I’ve been drinking non alcoholic. I’ve always wanted to taste O’Douls, and that’s exactly what I’m going to buy after watching this video. Thank you!!
Cheers man, check out Athletic Brewing Company. They make, what I think, are probably the best CRAFT NA beers out there
Did you end up buying some? it is my favorite non-alcoholic beer.
I am thinking of drinking non alcoholic beer one pay check and regular beer once a month.
Lies again? Develop Banks Halal Coordinator
@@NazriB what??
Wow. N/A beers have come a long way in 3 years!
Yeah there are so many more options for NA things....Honestly I dont know why White Claw came out with a NA White Claw and charges MORE for it. So your drinking carbonated water for $24 a 6 pack.
Great vid, I have never tried a NA, but I was going to soon. Nice review.
If you are looking for a NA Craft Beer option, my fav was Athletic Brewing. I did a review on their lineup. You can even have it "Amazoned" to your house
It's really cool watching you try to figure out the kind of beer I enjoy. It's non alcoholic but sometimes even a sober man needs a good beer
I would check out Athletic Brewing for the best tasting and variety of NA BEERS
O'Doul's has gotten better since changing to an amber bottle. It's my NA of choice, since I can't find Miller Sharps anywhere.
Try Athletic Brewing, they have some of the best NA Beers I ever had. You can even buy them on Amazon
My absolute favorite is O'DOULS AMBER
Love it Jon! Surprised about the heine, i drink a lot of NA beer and its my current fave! I wanna blame the green glass bottle and age ;) Punk AF is a decent IPA style one but hard to get outside the UK. Really looking forward to the rest of the month, gonna do the same myself in May.
Its weird, both blind taste I've done with a Heineken I swore I has it down bc the "that" aroma. But got it wrong both times. I think this month will be more entertaining than last. I have some interesting beverages coming.
Nah, it’s really bad. You can drink one Heineken but the second one leaves you with the worst aftertaste.
Weirdest thing is the can Heineken I can't drink but the bottle one I can. I swear they taste different
@@HopsAndBrews I've heard that from other NA beer channels -- that Heineken bottled vs canned are very different. One guy attributes it to light pollution. No idea if that's actually a factor or not, but I've tried both on different occasions, and I recall liking the canned Heineken better. I'll just have to try both at the same time. Cheers!
Clausthaler tastes the closest to a Heineken in my opinion. I just tried Budweiser zero that stuff is disgusting. O’Doul’s is good. You should try the amber O’Doul’s that’s really good. Especially in a frosted glass.
Best non alcoholic beers are brewed in czech republic, they taste like real alcoholic beers.
Let's hear some suggestions, Aldrich!
1st was budweisrr
2nd was coors
3rd was Heineken
4th was sharps
5th busch
6th odouls
By u describing them thats was my answers.
My breakdown:
1. Coors Edge
2. Busch NA
3. Heineken 0.0
4. Budweiser Zero
Haven't tried the others yet. Budweiser Zero is dead last for me. Very watered-down with almost nonexistent flavor.
My hope is that O'Doul's has improved since the mid '90s when I first tried it, because that's about the only NA option in restaurants/bars in my area these days. I'm trying O'Doul's Amber this week. We shall see. Cheers.
What kind of beer without alcohol do you recommend to drink while Using smart start?
Heineken 0.0
Im a recovering alcoholic and ive been drinking non alcoholic beer because well, I still love beer! Not to get drunk from anymore though! Spent two years working as a brewer for an on site craft brewery in dublin. I do wish the quality of non alcoholic beers was better. I KNEW once you mentioned the word “body” that your Heineken guess was completely off! I had a sneaking suspicion you may of had o douls and heineken mixed up! Havent tasted the other beers, so i couldnt make any other guesses from your descriptions, but im proud of that! Heineken really have produced a hideous beverage with this new 0.0 it smells awful, literally just a slightly metallic carbonated water taste. Gimme a Brooklyn 0% special effects every day of the week over that garbage! Great video dude, prolly wont be watching the others, but if you have another non alcoholic video, ill be sure to watch!
Yea I did a whole month of NA beers. I even have a play list of NA Beer reviews.
I do them when I find some, interesting ones.
Rob, congrats on your sobriety. Good on you, and here's to your ongoing recovery. As for these NAs, Coors Edge and Busch NA are actually pretty good -- indistinguishable from their alcoholic counterparts, by many accounts. Coors Edge is reportedly the NA version of Coors Banquet.
I’m currently also trying to slow down on my binge drinking but also like beer. So I have a question , how has it been drinking NA beers?. Does it help you stay sober or does it just increase your want for alcoholic drinks?
They should open an alcohol free pub.
they have a few of those
Great video!
odouls has an amber and my favorite na is kaliber
I have seen the amber one around but the lager one is the most common. I have the Kaliber and I think I will be doing this type of video again but on Imported EU beers.
I just stumbled on this video as I'm trying to mend my heavy drinking ways. BrewDog has a brewery here in Ohio just down the street from me and I picked up a 12-pack sampler. So far it's been a pretty good experiment. I think the Punk AF is my fav so far, but I'd like to find something that isn't quite so expensive and maybe I can find at the grocery store instead of having to make a special trip for something that sorta tastes like beer.
I notice that after 1 or 2 NA beers, I don't want to drink regular beer because I can suddenly feel the alcohol burn as I drink it. I don't drink as much of the NA beers in one sitting like I do regular beer, so that's fine too I guess.
I would check out Athletic Brewing. All NA beers and they taste great
@@HopsAndBrews From the looks of it they might have it at my grocery store. I'll pick some up today. Thanks!
@@bassislife-trh the nice part too is that since they are NA Amazon or other local places can ship to you. I think as a overall Athletic is the best NA brewery out there. They make some of the best craft flavors.
@@bassislife-trh I've done a few videos on their stuff, so check those out if you want. Remember everyone has different preferences and taste.
Doh, I am surprised Heineken came bottom of your list. I once almost purchased Heineken 0%, luckily I noticed in time.
Heineken 0 is very good. Corona 0 is also really good if you can find it.
Maybe I got a bad batch but the Bud was swill compared to the Heineken 0.0. I keep a frosted mug 🍺in my portable fridge freezer and have been drinking Heineken for months. I don't go 0.5 Alchohol so the other beers do not apply.
Try Lagunitas Hop Water.... just hopped carbonated water. Really good stuff. Zero Alcohol.
Heineken and Becks are WAY better than Bud. Bud is really weak and has a much more bitter aftertaste too.
I knew you swapped heineken and o doul's the moment you said number 6 was skunky
heineken for some reason is skunky
it is the most skunky beer i have had (maybe Utica is a close number 2)
There is no such thing dude 😂 Water wins this contest 🎉
You mean the bererage with absolutly zero flavor wins over this? This is basically the same as carbinated flavored water
Clausthaler Original and Clausthaler Dry Hopped does it for me😊
Well those are technically imported beers and wont find those at your local store or corner store (at least most wont) The point of this video was for those types of NA Beers. Me I'm a Athletic Brewing man, best NA Beers you can get.
O'douls is by far the best. love it. hits like real beer.
isn't the hole point of NA Beer, NOT TO HIT like real beer 😂
Honestly try Athletic Brewing, they make the best NA Beers
Coors Edge is the best NA period!
You think, then you have some blind and it becomes a lot harder than you think
Heiniken is my favorite with cores next in line
It's weird l, Heineken 0.0 taste different I can and bottle. I like bottle but don't like the can version
Watching while drinking Guinness 0
I just did a review on that one. It's actually pretty good
Great video. In my opinion the Germans probably make the best non alcoholic beers currently. I review many of them on my channel.
Try Athletic brewing, I think they make the best craft beer na beer out there
@@HopsAndBrews funnily enough Athletic Brewing just arrived here in the UK. And I agree with you, they are very good! I particulary liked the Run Wild IPA. Cheers!
Becks no alcohol beer made Germany is my favorite
I really like Becks, however the only real problem I have with them is the slightly higher cal. count than places like Athletic. Plus they make a much larger variety of NA Beer styles. Again I do enjoy a nice NA Becks
@sobercellar Bitburger was a shockingly good true 0% out of Germany. Athletic has some good ones (unfortunately their best ones are just small batch experimental ones), but the big American breweries have catching up to do.
Have you tried freeze distilling 0.5%?
But seriously, always look at the expiration date on non-alcoholic beer and wine. It stays on the shelf for years...
I have not freeze distilled na beer, did budweiser to 20%. Good point on the age, most are not super hopped so as long as they are cold they should last a decent time
But they are usually dusty on the back shelf...
@@mdj.6179 not where I'm from, I would recommend checking out the new craft beer na beers....Athletic Brew i find the best
But usually the "big boys" you featured are stale in restaurants and most markets...
Never bet against odouls sir.
I guess not
What’s the best for non alcoholic users like I never drink beer?
Authentic brewing...their fruited sours. Taste like a tart bubbly fruit drink
@@HopsAndBrews does Guinness taste like chocolate with coffee I saw a video where it says it has hint of chocolate and coffee
@@JAKFOXGaming yea ...not coffee but chocolate rosty ness
@@HopsAndBrews and apparently Busch NA has basically no taste
@@HopsAndBrews would it be good for me to try it
What is your favorite alcohol beer so we know your personal taste choice?
I like the ones with ABV on the label
Coors edge is my #1..
Yea I started to keep Athletic Brewing in my fridge. Found them the best na craftbeer beers out there
I tried Heineken earlier this afternoon it had a weird aftertaste.
Its funny I thought that same thing, but after finishing the 6 pack, by the last one I kind of enjoyed it.
I think out of this lineup the Heineken is my favorite. :0)
What funny is that over time the Heineken became my daily drinker ;) but then I had it in a can and you can totally taste a difference between bottle and can. So Heineken Zero in a bottle is was I went for.
Budweiser zero isnt too bad so is Busch NA best in my opinion is Heineken 0.0 actually tastes like Heineken
You know over time I actually started to like Heineken 0.0 in glass but taste horrible in can.
@@HopsAndBrews Agreed
1 is 6 is 1. Left is right is left. 🤯
Yea I figured next time to write everything down better. Lesson learned
I'd take a Hiney, the an O.
Have you noticed that it taste different in a can vs bottle? I think it does anyways. Bottle taste like the real thing. Can taste bad
Heineken should have been the easy one, it takes almost identical to their regular brew.
That what I thought to, and I did a blind taste with other people and they got Heineken wrong too
@@HopsAndBrews I'd probably get it wrong too! 🤣 Great video's!
Becks blue is the best
Glad to see that Vince Neil landed on his feet.
You saying I look like Vince Neil?
Can kids have them
All beers that claim to be NA are suppose to be under 1% abv. (I believe its actually 0.5% but I have seen a few craft ones that say they are NA but claim to be 0.8%, probably fine for them bc they are not nationally regulated and their State might just say thats NA) So if you are personally fine with that, then sure.
The Budweiser Zero and Heineken 0.0 have between 0.01-0.03%, thats around the same as a open container of OJ that was left out for a day. So I would say those are fine for sure.
🎉🙌🏻
Since when is Heineken a domestic beer in America? It really has been a Dutch beer since 1883, everyone knows that!! Despite that, cheers from Amsterdam, enjoy!!
Well it's sold 99% of the places here and they have a main brewery here in the States to brew this beer. It's in the domestic section of most stores here
Busch NA gives me a runny nose for some reason. I don't like it. As for O'Doul's, it's my favorite one
It's funny I've had similar things happen to me with other beers
Really? Couldn't tell the difference between the Bush and the Heineken? Huh...
I had other people try this and they couldnt tell either. Also I did notice that Heineken in a can taste way different than in a bottle.
Heineken 0.0 is the BEST!!!!!
It's much better I a bottle than can for some weird reason. But try ATHLETIC BREW for best NA Beer
Hm for me not - Heineken the worst (weak taste, watery, head/foam not so good, very bad aftertaste), only good to go to the sink. Bavaria the best for me, only that one I could drink for now.
@@jutjub22 try Athletic NA beers. But weird is that Heineken 0.0 in a can sucks but in a bottle no so bad
@@HopsAndBrews thanks, I will give bottle a try then, it was can.
This dude can’t get over the fact that people want to be responsible & don’t like getting inebriated.
Yup that's why I have so many NA beers review videos
Of the non-alcoholic beers that I have tried, Beck's tastes closest to the real thing.
Have you tried any Craft NA Beers? Athletic Brewing makes the closest thing to actual beer. Its amazing stuff
What N/A beer actually has a alcoholic beer flavor? I think the Heineken is super bland and its one of my favorite beers to drink.
Athletic Brewing has some really good NA beers that taste like beer
@@HopsAndBrews thank you i appreciate it i will order some now.
@@danblan0524 No Prob....I did do a review on a lot of their line up. Maybe check that out before you buy ;)
NA beer is tastier
I would say its Tastier, but there are some out there that taste pretty good
you can always tell Coors because it tastes like piss.
How often are you drinking piss??
heiniken is only good fresh or in cans
Funny bc a friend once found a 10 yr old keg of Heineken still full and it was the best tasting Heineken I have ever had.
The Best Non Alcoholic Beers Are Made In Australia.
Fosters makes a NA Beer!?!?! 😂
@@HopsAndBrews Hilarious. But I have had some Non Alcoholic Australian Beers that are pretty good.
@@baldbeardedbloke6887 I would love to try some. We don't get much Australian beers here in the US
Heineken is at the bottom with Old Milwaukee, St. Pauli Girl, and Beck's N/A.
I'm assuming you meant Bottom? This was just a blind taste test. Heineken I think does taste better in a bottle vs their can NA version. However I prefer Athletic Brew beers for my NA Options. Best around in my opinion
@@HopsAndBrews Corona was that latest NA I tried. UGH. I will take a look at Athletic.
Hey, 10 years ago called and it wants its n/a beers back. This is the lamest selection you could have chosen. Only the Heine is in the "new wave" of n/a beers.
I guess you didnt hear about me saying it was what you will fine in most major grovery store. I have a whole playlist of NA beers
None of those.
the Best NA Beer over all is Athletic Brewing
I cannot trust your opinion considering your one and two are the worst non-alcoholic beers out there lol
You will be surprised what starts tasting better when you blindly start to compare everything next to each other. Check out the Find The Alcohol video ua-cam.com/video/jkPLe2bA9Kw/v-deo.html
Best beer ended up being a NA Beer
Save yourself 15:10 minutes of BS
who doesn't love BS 😂😆
Absolutely POINTLESS to call a “Non alcoholic beer” a BEER.
WHY EVEN BOTHER????? NA “beer” is GARBAGE
Try Athletic Beer, they make great NA Beers.
There no such things is a good non alcoholic beer.😂 but coors light and Miller Genuine Draft will do me just fine.
I mean I wouldn't say no to a MGD
ALL OVERPRICED!
It cost more money to make a NA beer then a domestic beer. If yoy drink more craft, and get craft NA beers? Price is the same or lower
