Members of Queen were reluctant at first when they've been approached to do the music but when they saw 20 minutes raw shots of the movie they were excited: THAT'S US! 😅❤ They were asked for one song and ended writing the whole movie soundtrack of 9 songs ... 😮 Freddie wrote Princes of the Universe, Brian penned Who Wants To Live Forever (on the way back from seeing the cut, his manager drove him and a song just appeared in Brian's mind), Gimme The Prize and Hammer To Fall, Roger did A Kind Of Magic and John wrote One Year Of Love ... ❤ And they really are PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE! 👑👑👑👑
They did not write a soundtrack of 9 songs for the film. Their album *_A Kind Of Magic_* had 9 songs, but 4 of them were NOT in the *_HIGHLANDER_* film. "One Vision", "Pain Is So Close To Pleasure", "Friends Will Be Friends" and "Don't Lose Your Head" were NOT written for or featured in the film. The piece of instrumental music, written by Roger Taylor, used during Kurgan's 'chicken' scene, is titled "A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling"(which leads into a verse of "New York, New York"), and was then reworked into the album song "Don't Lose Your Head". And "Hammer To Fall" was on Queen's prior album *_The Works_* before it was included in the movie. They wrote 5 songs *_for_* the movie, and had 7⅛ songs used in the movie.
"Highlander" is a 1985 fantasy action adventure. Queen wrote the soundtrack; the songs are on the album, "A Kind of Magic". I'm probably not the only one that saw the movie just because of Queen, lol, but I liked it once I figured out what the heck was going on. THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE! Check out "Who Wants to Live Forever". Thanks.
This is the theme song from the Queen soundtrack for the movie Highlander written by Freddie. Roger wrote A Kind Of Magic, John Wrote One Year Of Love and Brian wrote Who Wants To Live Forever. I believe there are more Queen songs on this soundtrack as well.
@@iris67si- Actually, it was just that verse of New York, New York that was never released. The music during that scene was an instrumental track, written by Roger Taylor, titled "A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling"(which was released as a b-side to "A Kind Of Magic" in many territories). It was then reworked into the song "Don't Lose Your Head" on Queen's album *_A Kind Of Magic_*
Pentatonix did a great version of Bohemian Rhapsody. They are a capella group with a huge following on youtube. They also did something called "Evolution of Michael Jackson" that is CRAZY- recorded live and in two takes, if I remember correctly.
Love Brian’s guitar solo .. The 1986 Highlander film is definitely worth a watch starring Sean Connery, Christopher Lambert, & Clancy Brown! Each member of Queen wrote a song or two for the movie soundtrack! 🍿 You gotta check out GIMME THE PRIZE .. Banger, from the movie!
