"Tarpon" Movie Trailer

The recently released movie "Tarpon" (UYA Films, DVD, 53 minutes) was made almost 35 years ago in Key West, Florida. Besides including some of the only footage of Richard Brautigan, the cult 60s poet and novelist, "Tarpon" also features commentary by legendary guides Woody Sexton, Steve Huff, and Gil Drake, as well as Page Brown, an ardent Keys conservationist. Thomas McGuane and Jim Harrison are also featured in the film, and Jimmy Buffet composed the music. Many consider this film to be the first of the modern fishing films.

Key West and Tarpon fishing was a great place and a perfect sport for these guys to get out of their heads. Jimmy Buffett fits right in with the writers and poets. What a great time the 70s must have been.

I saw this vhs version, very scratchy, as a bootleg tape in 2002. Glad they found the film to share

I don’t understand why it seems like the rights holders are so insistent on making money off this, you go to their website and they’re talking about a new for purchase release. It’s 50 years old, just put it on UA-cam for free and let people enjoy it. I have yet to see this film and like others who have read lord of the fly I’m sure we all want to see it.

Tarpon is a catch-and-release only fishery. One tarpon tag per person
per year may be purchased when in pursuit of an International Game Fish
Association (IGFA) record. Vessel, transport and shipment limited to one
fish. Tarpon smaller than 40 inches in length may be removed from the water
long enough to take a photo before being returned to the water
for release. A tarpon should be brought to the boat and released within
twenty minutes of hookup to minimize stress on the fish.

Was this a joke? It's a vintage movie trailer older than me. I'm assuming you were either making a joke about crazy PETA people or you are a crazy PETA person and didn't realize this happened 40 years ago.
