Glad to see this garden is still surviving. It looks like it is open Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday from noon to 5 pm. It has more seating, including 2 round patio tables with umbrellas and lots of pots and planters added. Looks more like a backyard than a community space, feels homey. Didn't see the blue poles or closeup of casita. Great job and makes me proud to be part of tbe volunteer community. TFS
This is what we need to see around the world; people working together to right every area we can. Let our people, our communities, our allies know our loyal appreciation an our commitment to the future.

Fabulous job! THANK YOU to Ground Force, NYRP, and AmeriCore for this tremendous effort and inspiring result! Hats off to Bette for her moxie and commitment to NYC. Please patronize her restaurant, Leaf, and groups like NYRP and the Green Guerillas if you are inspired by this work. Love the young AmeriCore volunteer who repped for her efforts so eloquently!
Because of this show *and* Love Your Garden, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure my back garden is good and special in a way that makes it really good for people to see and good for my cats, too. 12:52 kind of reminds me of times when the Super Trainees feel the love affecting them in a way that lets them feel special using their powers. Especially the way Charlie says "Whoops. Didn't want it there."
Well I'm blown away to see Charlie and Allen so young and thin! What a wonderful thing for them to create a gorgeous garden in NYC! And Bette Midler! Wow! Not to mention all the young volunteers! Makes me want to visit NYC again just to see all these gardens. Hope they are keeping them up. Wonder who is taking care of them?
Patricia Nunez hi Patricia Monty don went to USA in bbc 2 documentary on us gardens and visited another Bette Midler garden great to hear last night there so many across the city
If this sort of thing interests you, you might want to support Green Guerillas as well as the NYRP for their efforts. On my yearly trips to NYC, I take in as many community gardens as I can. The first one was the Liz Christy Community Garden on E Houston and Bowery. Fantastic gift to the city! Kudos also to AmeriCore; you guys rock!
We will get through this, not unscathed, but together despite all odds. Because I see more then a beautiful garden, but the beautiful soul and heart of the people who want to grow together. I really appreciate the volunteers, the teachers, the caretakers, the planners, and the wonderful community I saw in this special show!!!
@@susiefisch Thank you! That was so kind of you to let us know! (It's Strelsin). I just went to their site ... and found it really difficult to navigate or find photos of the garden. It's poorly put together and really frustrating! I couldn't make out anything much ...they do themselves a such a dis-service! So much extraordinary work done on the garden and ... I can't get in to see it! I'll keep looking. Again, Thanks!
@@susiefisch Go to the NYRP page and click gallery for a lot of pictures. The garden still looks amazing, although they painted the benches (Bette Midler-) blue :-) www.nyrp.org/green-spaces/garden-details/the-dorothy-strelsin-memorial-community-garden
Sacking doesn't always rot in time. Why that particular shade of blue, eeks. Overall though very nice job. What a lot of hard work in miserable weather. How they didn't faint...
@@b_uppy Bette stated that the garden featured in this episode was her 7th so I wonder if her Provence Blue went any better, if at all, in any of the other six? I agree w/you that it wasn't a good choice for this particular site. Maybe if there'd been various shades of blue in the plantings? Her spokesman from New York Garden Project told the Ground Force crew she picked it so as to be instantly recognizable as a "unified" project all over NYC but I think a specific type of plague would have been a more tasteful unifier. Still, the garden and certainly its intent, turned out spectacular!
Hi , am I imagining it, or in the original transmission , Michael the concrete guy took Tommy to a Deli restaurant - possibly Katz's - and Tommy devoured a salt beef sandwich ? Also in a subsequent series / episode , Michael visited the UK to surprise Tommy on a makeover here - any ideas ?

I decided to look up this project and see what it's like now. IT'S MAGNIFICENT!!!
Always loved this show. What a wonderful lady the teacher is getting the kids involved in the outdoors. Planting stuff and hopefully growing food :-)

Fabulous episode
WONDERFUL🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
the way Brian at 10:26 is like: "Uh-oh..."
23:33 Alan used Quick Attack. A critical hit! Anything that crossed his path fainted.
If I’d known Charlie was prepared to come to North America, I’d have invited her to come and plant tulips around my old root in the back yard.
wonder what this garden looks like today??
I know! I wish we could see it.
Artlady Bluntzer - you can look it up on the NYRP website. It’s called the Dorothy Strelien (?) Garden in the Lower East Side.

fot this episode i always wondered why they didnt use a little bobcat to dig the path..
23:53 Charlie used Charm. The wild 'Elvis's' defence fell.
12:52 THAT WAS PATHETIC. The wild Charlie fainted.

In the video they stated that that shade was chosen by Bette Midler as a favorite of hers.
+B uppy It is called Provence Blue and is the shade Bette Midler chose as "the" statement color for *ALL* the NY gardens she restored.

It's wrong for the site.

Kind of sad she wasn't responsive to her surroundings.
