  • People seem to enjoy accusing Latinas of not being “Latina enough.” When Jane The Virgin actress, Gina Rodriguez had her Latinidad questioned last August, we were so able to relate. Society loves to box people into categories and there’s this misconception that if you don’t look a certain way (you know, brown skin and dark hair) or don’t speak Spanish fluently, you’re not “really Latina". But some of our favorite Latina stars including, Gina Rodriguez, Dascha Polanco, and Rosario Dawson know exactly how to shut the haters down. Check out the video above and find out how these Latina celebs responded.

Spanish conquistadors did one hell of a number on the Indians (or Indiens) of the Americas. We feel the effects to this day. Enough already.

The original use of Latino in the New World was for people who spoke the Latin (European) languages Spanish, French and Portuguese (including people of European descent) as opposed to the native languages. Then after some time they used Hispanic to identify those who spoke Spanish. Today it's all about descent and culture not language but yeah, even the French speaking people of Canada and Louisiana are Latinos.
