    I learnt a lot in today's video. It will take 7-9 months for it to bud and 2-3 to mature once it starts budding

    Great video! Thank you very much. But how can someone prevent goats and other animals from eating the leaves and destroying the plantain suckers. Most especially on a low scale, when you don't have the capacity to build a fence round the farm.

      The thing you can do would be to fence your field round, or get security personnel to be on ground so as to prevent them from entering your field.

    Concerning the maintenance, from some of your previous videos, you mentioned that we should ensure that we Trina's much as possible to always remove the dry leave hanging the plantain. But I realized that most plantains in this video have the dried leaves on them. Is there any benefit attached to it?

      Yes Sir,
      so, this very plantain field has not been pruned yet.
      I just did the video because I needed to talk about the bunches in this particular video.

    When is the right time to cut off the bud to fatten the plantains?

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  8 днів тому +1

      Once all the the bunch fingers are all emerged or developed from the bud, and you’re sure the bud will not produce no more fingers, then you cut of the buds.

    Please what do you mean by P and K.
    Are they another type of fertilizer and at what month do I need to apply the P and K, and the uria ? Thanks for your assistance.

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  2 роки тому +1

      I was just referring to mono fertilizers,
      P for phosphorus
      K for potassium.
      The are mostly introduced once the plantains start fruiting.

    Hello chidav. Happy New Year. It's me again,
    Some of the plantains I planted last year May have started fruiting. I need to apply P and K now I think according to your advice.
    Is the P and K another form of fertilizer and how is applied,is on the stem, fruits,or roots?
    I am using dry chicken droppings presently for the ones I planted two months ago. Hope I'm in order.
    Thanks so much and God bless you more!

      P fertilizers are straight fertilizers that supply just one type of nutrient, like phosphorus only, potassium or nitrogen. If you can't easily get them you may just use npk 15:15:15 in combination with poultry manure.
      Mode of application is dependent on the type of fertilizer, if it's liquid, then you apply through the leaves, if it's solid, you apply through the soil.
      Use of dry chicken manure is great, just make sure water is always available to them.

    Hello my brother.
    Please how can I differentiate plantain and banana trees. Is it in colour or otherwise.
    Thanks

      Thanks for your question sir.
      In order to be able to tell the difference between a plantain and banana plant, you have to pay very close attention to the plant as thy strikingly look alike and needs serious observation to tell the differences
      1. sometimes you can tell which leaf is which by its shape. Plantain leaves are similar in shape to the soles of shoes, but banana leaves tend to be more tubular and longer.
      2. Examine the plant’s fruit form. On maturity, bananas are yellow and about 6-inch long, while plantains are green or black and approximately 12-inch long.
      3. With your hand, you can feel the texture of the plant’s fruit. Bananas are softer with a medium-thick skin, while plantains are very firm and have a tough, thick skin.
      Note: it might be quite difficult for you to differentiate a plantain sucker from a banana sucker because of their striking similarities.
      To be more clear on which is which, check the shape of the leaves and the respective fruit forms in each plant.
      And with experience, you'll be able to tell more with discernment.

    Anything that grows there tend to have yellowish leaves .....
    And there are many many snails ......
    Can plantain be grown there ...what should I do

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  2 роки тому +1

      Yes, but you have to do proper land preparation and also ensure to add enough soil amendments

    • @ChidavAgriculturalHub
      @ChidavAgriculturalHub  2 роки тому +1

      But, it's always best to run a soil analysis to actually determine the state of the soil

      And you may leave the snails, as they could be another source of income for the farm.
