Your analysis is spot on. I have a 0:13 77 C3 and while it's been a major pain at times like the multifunction turn signal switch unique to 77. But at the end of the day e everyone loves it as much as I do. This is my 4th vette, had a new 95, 89 convertible and a junk 82 crossfire. The 95 was a great car. Set the cruise at 100mph and still got 24 miles per gallon in 6th gear. Bur the C3 style is a classic corvette to me with high fenders and shark like looks even though it drives like a truck lol. The drive train is absolutely bullet proof as you put it. The most dependable car I've owned. Sits for a long time and has never let me down. But it is a labor of love to be sure.

Guy at work has one (1970 Lo-Po 350 4 speed w/A/C) He says he has to limit the A/C operation due to the fact the compressor slings its oil onto the underside of the hood, then seeps through the fibreglass hood and causes the paint to strip. And as his is original paint, it''s a real issue for him.

That's one we've honestly never heard of. The original Frigidaire A/C compressors do seize from lack of use after low refrigerant pressure, but an operating one slinging oil is a new one. Your coworker should simply buy a reman unit, (which are available for about $250 -- far less than the cost of a hood repaint) and simply buy reproduction stickers if the original look is important.

Looking to buy a 1982 350 with 38k original miles, red automatic. Perfect condition in every way. No rust, mint inside and out. How much do you think it would be for sale for / worth?

If you have to do that much research on a old vette don't buy it its just a old fiberglass car not a brand new corvette
