Good animation isn't " budget" based. Even shida himself dispelled that bs in a QA on his Twitter. It's based on the animators talent plus the schedule(how much time do they have to animate the scene). These scenes take months to do
Shida is a legend. Sucks they did him dirty in that Goku Black sequence. His later stuff in Super during the Tournament of Power looked much better, and I’m pretty sure it just came down to a color/post production type thing. The hair in the Goku Black sequence has that awful plastic look to it, while the scene with Jiren fighting Vegeta has the hair as a much more natural, hand-drawn looking color and shading to it. Makes me think they either didn’t give him enough time to make the Goku Black scene as detailed and handled the extra details like shading and hair color themselves, or they let his natural hand drawn stuff stand out more in the Tournament of Power instead of covering it up with nasty CG-looking stuff. He like single-handedly brought movement back into people’s hair in this series. It’s insane.
I didnt know naotoshi animated that fight in the broly movie, I always thought that dbs brolys animation would be something he would struggle with more.
Um.....isn't the part from 8:42 CG......... It's not Naotoshi Shida.... Otherwise great compilation! He is one of my favourite animators! Have a great day!!
What if Shida did the rough key LOs for this CG cut and then CG animators will then replicate the poses from Shida's drawn key layouts. If it did he's still credited as an animator of this cut. Or it's the hand drawn effects that was drawn by him (Shida), or this cut 9:32 where it jumps back hand drawn. Even if it's CG made in Japan, it's still considered as sakuga
